With Richard Dawkins rapidly accelerating his schedule of Twitter meltdowns recently, it’s clearly time for some RICHARD DAWKINS TWITTER MELTDOWN BINGO!
The rules are simple:
- Follow Richard Dawkins on Twitter.
- Make sure you’re following the correct Richard Dawkins. This one. While this other Richard Dawkins might seem indistinguishable from the real thing, don’t be fooled! He is merely a stunningly convincing Dawkins impersonator.
- As soon as you notice Dawkins — the real Dawkins — saying something, you know, really really Dawkinsish, pop over here to generate your own randomized DAWKINS TWITTER MELTDOWN BINGO card, because, I guarantee you, a meltdown is immi
nent. - Sit back and wait for the BINGOS to roll in.
- Profit?
Oh, and just so you know, I can edit the list used to generate the cards, so if you have any ideas for new squares, or if you think I might have gone a little overboard with the roadkill cannibalism thing, or you think it needs more “dundridges,” post your thoughts in the comments below.
All the items in my DAWKINS TWITTER MELTDOWN BINGO list — even the roadkill cannibalism thing — are based at least loosely on things he’s actually said on Twitter, or in the little essays he’s written defending his behavior on Twitter.
Oh, so you don’t believe me about the roadkill cannibalism thing? Here he is talking about it with his actual mouth.
And that honeypot thing? Here you go.
Bin Laden has won, in airports of the world every day. I had a little jar of honey, now thrown away by rule-bound dundridges. STUPID waste.

I told you never to doubt me.
EDIT: For more context about his meltdowns, this piece is a good intro. And thanks for the suggestions! I’ll be adding some more squares about Christina Hoff Sommers and his now-deleted penis Tweet.
When I became an atheist, I certainly did admire Richard Dawkins quite a bit. Certainly, he promoted science in the face of a fair bit of society still believing in the old Bronze Age myths. And what he said about the fear of hell, that I can relate to. I admire his efforts to make a world a bit more free. Free from superstition, mythology, cognitive biases. No men are perfect and perhaps Dawkins does have a bone to pick with feminists, but overall I respect Dawkins for being a free thinker. And we need logical, free thinkers in the age where many people can get too hung up on ideology, and this sadly includes feminists. Ideological dogmatism is not the way to go, thinking for yourself is much more noble. 🙂
RE: Michelle C Young
Quoth the Kid: “All these random people are talking to me! This is so awesome!” (She was never allowed to be herself when she was alive; that was when we were kids in deep stealth.)
RE: grumpyoldnurse
Yeah, Sneak is a great kid, and I’m glad to have zer. It’s good to have at least ONE person here who hasn’t been beaten half to death with the trauma stick. And it’s not like it’s hard to avoid things like chocolate bunnies!
RE: maistrechat
Zie’s so relieved zie’s not the only one.
RE: Luzbelitx
OMG, I hope I don’t sound disrespectful but that sounds so AWESOME and BADASS!
Not gonna lie, she is pretty badass. She was system damage-soaker before me.
RE: Just a Guy
The person you describe does not sound like Richard Dawkins to me.
Seriously, the Satanic Temple. That’s where it’s at, y’all!
@Just a Guy
I once respected Dawkins as well.
Then he started doing this kind of thing. Repeatedly. He’s now all about the Dawkins, and that is the sort of dogmatic idiocy that he was supposed to oppose.
We don’t need more free thinkers like him. We need more who won’t drop into misogyny and racism.

Because it seems like the appropriate place. It’s silly, but I like it.
“No men are perfect and perhaps Dawkins does have a bone to pick with feminists”
Nope. Feminists have many bones to pick with him. He is the one spouting out sexism, racism, classism, and victim blaming. None of those are cool. Also, wrt Dawkins removing cognitive bias from society, shouldn’t he be working on his own? He’s got some massive blind spots.
Malcolm is rather predictable, isn’t he?
@ LBT
Glad to hear that you’re figuring things out! You certainly sound a lot less stressed than you did a couple of weeks ago.
(By the way, I couldn’t even bite the ears off chocolate bunnies as a kid. Sensitive kids, they are a thing.)
RE: cassandrakitty
I FEEL a lot less stressed than I did a couple weeks ago! I posted details in the personal thread, so as not to clutter things up here with rape and D: but things are going a lot better, and it feels like a huge burden has been taken off.
And today, I am celebrating by kicking back and hanging out with YOU fine folks, and not doing ANYTHING worklike, productive, or DID-related. I AM GOING TO HAVE FUN.
When one of Dawkins’ best selling books–a book that is often cited as one of the best introductions to atheism–is basically an appeal to ableism, I fail to see how anyone seriously interested in social justice to take him as a viable leader
Shaun: I love it.
You just summed up basically why I’ve always been uncomfortable with most of the people recommended to me as atheist role models, Michael McG.
I’m severely mentally ill, and I’m an atheist. I see the two things as totally unrelated, and as someone with DID, I find the whole, “Hurr hurr, imaginary friend in the sky,” particularly noxious. If I wanted to hang out with a bunch of people who think my condition is funny, I’d go hang out with the False Memory Syndrome Foundation.
Yeah feminists! Did you even stop to think that Dawkins might have a point? Maybe getting raped while drunk really should be a crime! Think for yourselves! Why do you just blindly assume that women are human beings? It’s so close minded.
What’s really hilarious is that all this exhortation for free thinking is coming from guys who absolutely refuse to consider the possibility that someone who says sexist bullshit, again and again and again, just might be a sexist
You’re right, Just A Guy, it’s totally dogmatic to criticize anything your dear leaders say. You need to agree with them blindly and ignore their terrible logic, or you are just letting an ideology think for you.
Because theirs nothing more logical and free-thinking and less ideological than to espouse centuries-old prejudices like sexism and racism.
You need a square for “I’m a Christina Hoff Sommers feminist, which is the only right kind of feminist.”
Honestly, I’ve always found the idea of role models intrinsically flawed. It seems to presume that someone should be emulated in all ways, when invariably, you’re going to disagree with some facet of their philosophy or behavior. A lot of folks, I feel like they’re just forever looking for that magic Perfect Person who they can just obey and imitate in all ways, and then BAM! They’ve discovered the magic key to goodness and don’t have to worry anymore.
I’ve found it more beneficial to take what I like, leave the rest, and try to continue on, living mindfully.
Yes, he has quite the thing for Sommers. That should definitely be a square. Should a Jaclyn Glenn reference get its own separate square, or no?
“I’m a Christina Hoff Sommers feminist, because the best way to be a feminist is to actually be an anti-feminist! This makes perfect sense when filtered through my many layers of ideological bullshit.”
As a liberal Catholic, I’ve always known that you can be perfectly nice, decent no matter what your religious beliefs, or lack thereof are. Richard Dawkins, however, is not one of those kind, decent people. He’s a xenophobe and just a mean person in general.
It’s sad that he distrusts Muslims living in the West so much. Where Dawkins sees a potential terrorist, I see an ordinary American. For someone who talks about being oppressed for his belief system (even though he lives in Europe), he’d sympathize with Western Muslims. But no.
I hope that atheists stop looking to people like Dawkins and Mr. torture-is-okay, Sam Harris for support someday. There are other people who embody humanism far better than these guys.
Howard Bannister has already said what I wanted to say about the whole “honey” debacle. Its not that he doesn’t have a point, its just that he is a giant hypocrite.
I’ve never been gaga over any of these atheist leaders, thankfully. I have tried to get into The God Delusion or God is Not Great but they didn’t do anything for me besides act as a natural sleep aid. Either way, it is depressing that Dawkins and others are finally showing their true colors to everyone. I may not look up to them but I’m sure tons of people do and will just follow their “logic” even if it makes no fucking sense at all. That is disappointing.
And I just went to watch some David Pakman Show and saw that he interviewed JudgyBitch :/ I’m kind of scared to watch the interview because I don’t want to see another person I thought was progressive take her seriously. If only youtube comments weren’t a cesspool I would check those out first!

TRANSLATION: I still like Dawkins, but I’m not stupid enough to admit it here.
TRANSLATION: He once did stuff to promote an atheism that I can relate to.
TRANSLATION: Dawkins fights the biases that directly affect me; he’s awesome! Biases that affect women and Muslims can’t be cognitive biases since Dawkins isn’t against them.
*pause to barf a little*
TRANSLATION: Nothing negative he says affects me, so why should I care?
TRANSLATION: Feminists won’t pamper and care for me, and that’s wrong! Hopefully they’ll listen to Dawkins and start properly paying attention to me and my manfeels.
TRANSLATION: Confirmation bias is totally the same as thinking. And if I can think just like Dawkins wants me to, then people are just being meanies if they don’t like it.
*translation machine chokes & dies*
It is extremely courageous of Dawkins to speak out against the SJW drones. He’s a moralist and critical thinker of the highest order, and he is not going to be cowed into submission by feminist bullying.
I’m an atheist and I am totally all about Bronze Age myths. Bronze Age myths are awesome! Especially what we’ve uncovered about the Hittites, and continuing discoveries from Mycenaean excavations.
