Speaking of kitty furniture, I saw this in the paper yesterday and laughed. It’s a Frank Gehry piece from 1972. Corrugated cardboard. Comfortable, apparently, and helps absorb sound in a room.
But.
But.
It’s CORRUGATED CARDBOARD, dude. Did you not know it would last about two months at best with kitties around?

Thanks, Cloudiah. Those are very helpful things to hear!
And I’ve definitely considered that the strange cold vibe could have more to do with HR mechanics than anything I should take personally. Still, it was tough news to receive in that way, and the timing sure didn’t help my confidence next immediate interview.
My dad sent me an awesome e-mail about how many times he was rejected before he began a 40-year-career as one of the district’s best-loved high school teachers. And that I’ve been selected before and I will be again.
Cloudiah and my dad are both excellent at making me feel better.
Oh, kittehserf, I don’t have to wonder if my cat would like *that* piece! I know he would!
LBT, bravo for sending the letter. Um, batten down the hatches? Bolster up your support systems, and definitely get someone else to screen your emails.
Seraph, that is a gorgeous avatar.
Grumpycat, I’m sorry about the interview. They suck, there’s no getting around it.
So, Monday night, my old friend whom I hadn’t had contact with in 10 years died, and her husband called to tell me. Today, he left me a voicemail, just to see how I’m doing, and to see if he could support me somehow. Weird?
You mean that’s NOT intended to be a fancy scratcher?
That made my day. I’m glad you have an excellent dad!
katz, I am LOLing so hard at that!
grumpycat, Mads would love it too. It’d collapse in a heap pretty soon, ‘cos she not only scratches her boards, she rips chunks out of them with her teeth (and spits them around the room, of course).
Darrow does that too! He never eats the cardboard, just bites off many, many pieces. Then Dracarys bats the pieces around the room.
No, seriously, I looked at that and went “Oh, fancy cat scratcher…wait, it’s a chair?”
katz, I don’t know if that isn’t even funnier!
WWTH, oh great, the little evils team up! Glad Fribs doesn’t get involved in Mads’s ripripPTUI games.
I’ve finally taken a couple of photos of my latest stripey jacket. It doesn’t hang wonkily like it seems to here; I was too lazy to take better pics. 😛

I honestly thought that chair was just a fancy scratcher, too. I’d totally buy it for a cat. I’d never sit it in it but the cat gets a whole scratch chair for herself. Because she’s the boss. Or he. Cat is the boss.
katz, I don’t mind sharing it. Is there a way to private message people on here?
Just send a message to David and he can forward it, redpoppy.
Yeah, auditory hallucinations. Bah.
Interesting study

Also, awesome knitting Kitteh
RE: Kittehs
trying for relationships with outer people when you’ve only one vessel to use – gah, no, I’d be with Miranda on that one too.
It’d be like having sex in your child’s bedroom! (Since Gigi and Sneak and Kid use it.) D: That’s just impolite!
RE: blahlistic
in passing you mentioned the cousin who fell from grace and became pregnant at a young age…Um…Have you ever been in touch with her?
We’ve seen her in person I think ONCE in our entire life. She’s long been disowned, and far as I can tell, she’s completely axed all our mutual family. (Gee, I wonder why.) I have no way of getting in touch with her, since I don’t even know what name she’s going by now or what state she lives in, and her parents are similarly on the periphery of the family. Why do you ask?
Also, we get auditory hallucinations sometimes. Very minor ones; basically, if music or other repeating sound patterns are so quiet as to be barely perceptible, our brain fills in the rest, even if the sound actually stops. That’s neurological, not mental though, I’m pretty sure.
RE: Unimaginative
Um, batten down the hatches? Bolster up your support systems, and definitely get someone else to screen your emails.
Mwahaha, our family’s emails are already filtered! I don’t even have to know they exist, should I not want to! They don’t have our phone number, and our roommates already get the mail. And we’re in a crime-y area, so even if they showed up on our doorstep, nobody would let them in! Ahaha, I’m safe! 😀
Merci madame! 🙂
AUGH
I’ve got a reading reccomendation for Woody!

Yes, all the time. It’s mostly awe and wonder that I managed to end up happy, and that this wonderful amazing person somehow wants to be with me. Together we’ve built a home and a life that feel like a sanctuary when work starts grinding my soul down or my family goes into drama mode or I have a panic attack because global warming is going to kill us all. He’s just amazing <3
LBT, I hope your grandma continues to be supportive.
My nephews just got a kitten. I never thought they’d get a pet, because my brother is an anti-animals-in-the-house clean freak. But I guess my SIL put her foot down and got them a ragdoll kitten. I’m so happy my nephews will get to experience having a cat in their lives.
I’m hoping my brother will come around too, because I have noticed that often men who are anti-cat are like that just because they’ve never actually known any really so think they are just weird and stand-offish. But once they have one willing to snuggle up to them, they change their minds. About that particular cat anyway. It happened to my dad and my bf upon meeting my cats, because one of them is an impertinent snuggler.
Mr. HK wasn’t anti-cat, he had never lived with one before we moved in together. Now he loves them and sings them silly songs when he feeds them. It’s adorable.
Kitteh: love the sweater!
emilygoddess – YAY and ditto to all you said there. It’s like, how the heck did I get this lucky? 🙂
hellkell, thank’ee! And LOL to Mr HK being the kitties’ singing waiter.
Kim, hurrah for nephews’ kitty, and fingers crossed for paternal conversion. Also “impertinent snuggler,” love it.
gilshalos, too right Woody needs that book. 😀
A friend of mine (who’s always had cats) got a cat with her partner (who had never even touched a cat) and he was amazed at the purring. Before that, he literally had no idea what purring was like. (He was pro-purring after that).
Purr power!
