I am slammed pretty much all Saturday long, but have fun with your Go session. I may log in late at night to see if you’re still going into the wee hours. It was super fun last time, especially because you get to hang out with Mammotheers in real time (and I even got to hear what Fibinachi sounds like). So highly recommended for those reasons.
If I’ve done my conversion right, that would be noon Sunday for me – yay!

I was thinking of doing it a little bit before the start time. I’m gonna be making a private room on KGS (you can log in as a guest for free). People will have to pm me so I can add their name to the room list, but otherwise the process should be pretty easy.
I can reply to your emails to mods, kirbywarp, so you can get my email that way.

Go is fun. Symbolic logic gates, which are honestly easier to parse after you’ve slept ( I recommemd sleep )

I was thinking of having a look at the links that you posted first so I have a bit of an idea of what is going on … but yeah, I am going to be at the at the “I move that piece to there as it is mine and it seems like a good idea” level.
What is the KGS server? I know nothing about it, kirbywarp – what the site is, where we go, anything.

If my advil kicks in and kills my headache, I’ll try to join you. I have only a vague notion of what Go is. And I’m bad at games. And the roomie might come home and make participation impossible (he’s kind of a brat). So I’m a maybe.
Somebody thinks the Michael Brown shooting was “muddled.” Some other people think Wilson is a “hero”

Wilson had the following options when Brown was running away:
Let Brown go.
Let Brown go and put out a BOLO for him.
Chase him on foot.
Chase him in the car.
Call for backup.
After Wilson shot at Brown the first time, Wilson was 35 feet away from Brown, which is a good safe distance when you are armed with a handgun.
Wilson had the following options:
Order Brown to stay down, keep him covered at a distance, call for backup and EMS.
Approach carefully and handcuff Brown, then search him.
Wilson instead chose to continue firing and killed Brown.
I note all the alternatives above and can honestly state that Wilson did not have to shoot Brown. Therefore Wilson CHOSE to kill Brown, and there’s nothing morally defensible about it.
Gawd, the stupid, it burns.
So, what’s happening with Go? How do we do this?

I’m going to start up the Go room now, with a plan to start teaching peeps at 10pm EST, or about 20 minutes from now! Hooray! Go here for details on what this is all about.
To join up, go to the KGS home page and hit “play now” to launch the client. You can type whatever name you want and hit “guest” to join up.
Next, look for “kirbywarp” in the user list in the English game room and right click to message me with your username. I’ll add you to the room, and you’ll be allowed in.
The room I’m setting up is “Mammoth Go,” which you can get to by looking through the rooms list accessible from the top menu bar. Look in the “New Rooms” category to find it.

Firefox won’t let me install the Java plugin for it. I click on the manual install button, but all that does is bounce back and forward between instruction pages and the install window.

I’m having similar problems with not having java installed… Ugh.
Try installing the java JRE from the oracle website for starters. I’m gonna see if chrome works better.
Okay, I’m installing Java now (no thanks to Firefox), so will try to catch up!

Alright. For people having issues:
First, install java.
Next, run the java configuration program. Under the security tab, add an exception for the site “http://files.gokgs.com”.
Next, go to here to download the client. Run the file, and you should be able to log in.
Grah this is complicated.
Java really doesn’t like KGS, does it?

First, java changed around the way it does security, so that bollockses everything up. And THEN, firefox changed the way it dealt with the java plugin and has accidentally hard-blocked it so it doesn’t show up.
Everything went wrong.
I’m just amazed I hadn’t installed java on my windows boot yet.
Anyway, the rooms up, so make sure to message “kirbywarp” in the english game room if you want to be let in.
