Dean Esmay's Secret Plan to Fight Sexism by Calling Everyone a Whore

Let’s say that you’re the “Managing Editor” of a website known far and wide for calling women “whores,” as well as an assortment of other 4- and 5-letter words generally considered crude sexist slurs. Let’s just say that you had a convention, and that during this convention your official spokeswoman went on a bit of a name calling rampage on Twitter, repeatedly attacking a woman who had tried to report on said convention as an “attention whore,” a “fame whore,” and a “little whore,” and offering similar “whore”-based assessments to other critics of the site.

And let’s just say that despite all this you also had a desire to convince the world that your site was not actually the misogynistic cesspit that it so obviously is. Would you:

1) Apologize for using the words “whore” and “bitch” and “c*nt” and other similar sexist epithets against women.

2) In your capacity as editor, quietly remove the word “whore” (and “bitch” and “c*nt”) from future postings on the site, and tell your PR maven to maybe come up with a less misogynistic insult of choice.

3) Start calling men whores so that no one can accuse you of hating women because, see we use “whore” to refer to men too!

The answer, of course, is 3 — at least if you’re Dean Esmay, “Managing Editor” of A Voice for Men. In a recent comment thread on AVFM, he declared:

Screen Shot 2014-07-08 at Tue, [Jul 8], 14 5

CONFIDENTIAL TO D— E—-: No one is buying your bullshit. Also, if you want to try to convince the world that you’re a Friend of Sex Workers, you should probably stop using the word “whore” as an insult for women or men.

Wowza! Where to start with this thread? At the end, yet. >.<

BS seems rather fixated on the whole cuckolding/false paternity thing. Like a dog with a bone, that one! Plus, the fact that he insists on picking said bone with some monolithic feminist bloc he imagines to exist. I have to wonder what that's about?

And, as a fat woman, I found Sebhai's comments offensive; I have much higher standards than some misogynistic libertarian, no matter what he might look like. I noticed that Sebhai stopped commenting, so there's that much, but not even a notpology? Bad form! But still, I give hir a +1.5 for sticking the flounce.

I wouldn’t be surprised if BitterSteel is, well, Steele.

BUT

He complained about his religious freedom in France, intermingled with a bunch of complaints about the US, particularly the university system (Title IX). Who else do we know who was claiming to be a Frenchman at an American university and who was also deadly boring and recently banned?

@Catherine von Uberwald – excellent job pointing out the 4/5 people in troll’s original comment. I was more focused on how, when walking past a group of women he refused to actually look at (beyond noticing they were icky), when he overheard them say ‘him’, he knew, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that they had to be talking about him.

Geez, my writing skills suck so much today! That 2nd ‘when’ should have been an ‘and’. And he overheard them…

Mr. Al and Brz? Not only would that not surprise me, it’d almost make sense after Steele.

It’s becoming like the MRA equivalent of the British Sapphire and Steel show from the early 80s. BTW I apologise in advance for any misspellings etc as I am still under the effect of benzos for my dental treatmetn this morning and I see doubled up words.

Mr Al would clearly be Alumnium. Physically, he ia s soft (or brittle), mechanically weak metal with a melting point lower than those of the transition metals; most also have boiling points lower than those of the transition metals.

Brz: is really Br, a halogen, and a nonmetal existing as a as diatomic molecule in its standard states. It is a generally highly insulating, highly electronegative, non-reflective gases, noting that bromine, a liquid, is volatile at room temperature. The diatomic nonmetals are distinguished from the polyatomic nonmetals by virtue of having lower coordination numbers, lower melting points (compared to the polyatomic nonmetals in their thermodynamically most stable forms), and lower boiling points; and having narrower liquid ranges[n 9] and greater room temperature volatility. More generally, they show less inclination to exist in allotropic forms, and to catenate; and have a stronger ability to form hydrogen bonds. Most are also gases, and have higher ionisation energies and higher electronegativities than those of the polyatomic nonmetals.

It’s elemental, my dear WHTMers.

Holy fuck. I missed quite the shit show. Bittersteel sounds a lot like every third engineering student I met at university. They spent way too much time worrying about all those women out to get the money these winners hadn’t made yet. Same guys were always out to prove how manly they were while complaining g about how hard men have it. Thankfully their lack of self awareness made me realize how full of shit I was at the time.

Men insult each other by saying “you can’t get laid”

Umn… way to overgeneralise. Some men do this, mostly those who see “getting laid” as what defines “manliness” and “manliness” as the virtue men most need.

For those of us who don’t view the world that way, insults tend to be more directed to the specific fault. So when someone catcalls a woman on the street, I don’t say, “what, you can’t get laid?”, I say, “You are an (insert modifier as appropriate) asshole”.

If someone makes a pathetic, and unsupported argument the response wouldn’t be, “bittersteel you can’t get laid,” because your ability to get laid is immaterial to your inability to present a decent argument. The appropriate response to such as that would be:

Bittersteel you needed to pay more attention in school, especially to those portions dealing with reasoning, logical argument, reasoned analysis and sentence structure, because from the evidence presented it seems likely you weren’t passed on merit, but rather because your school believed in social promotion.

My theory is that 90% of our trolls are the same guy. Which doesn’t mean that we don’t have dozens of other troll, it just means that we also have one really weird guy who apparently has dozens of socks to spare.

(Pretty sure Meller and Slavey were their own people, and Brandon too.)

The support of a beta male is not some reward you get when you hit level 30 either. And the child is someone else last time I checked. It’s not me. No benefit to me=I’m not going to do something that is time consuming, emotionally taxing, and unjust.

A biological child isn’t of benefit to you either. Such a child might be of benefit to The Species but to you, it’s no more benefit than a non-biological one. The only direct benefit a child can have for you is support in your old age. That doesn’t require shared genetics; it requires bonds of affection.

Insofar as your memory living on… your kids aren’t gonna do that for you, you have to do that yourself; by being memorable. Beethoven didn’t have kids, but we remember him.

Mozart did have a child, but there are (so far as we know) no people who are directly related to him. Same for Shakespeare. The Plantagenets might still have some of the familial genes floating around (same for the Tudors, as at least Henry VIII spent some time in France, where there might have been a “by blow” he didn’t know of), but the last known member of the family was born on the wrong side of the blanket and died while Elizabeth was queen (if I recall correctly, it might have been while her father was still on the throne, I forget).

But even if you do have, “children of your body”, that’s one drop in a very small bucket of evolutionary material. The odds are, that as with most family lines, yours will die out, even if you have dozens of kids.

This is from your own guys’ link: “The Child Support Agency will not accept a DNA test report that shows that you are not the father of the child.”

LOL, you guys just proved my own point for me.

Not unless you are trying to convince us that no man would ever falsify a DNA report to get out of paying for his kid. That, or you think the job of “children’s services” agencies is to adjudicate parentage.

See my previous statement about your educational attainments.

For what it’s worth, and I don’t know if it was addressed, but the link saying it was illegal to paternity test in France actually linked to another page specifying the situations where it WAS legal to DNA test. One of those situations is in the course of a civil suit regarding parentage and parental support statements. If I’m understanding the translation correctly, it requires the consent of the person whose DNA is being tested (I’m not sure whether they mean the child or the father)

Here’s the google translation:

The identification of a person by his DNA can only be sought:

1 In the context of investigative measures or investigations diligentées in judicial proceedings;

2 A medical or scientific research;

3 For purposes of determining when it is known, the identity of the deceased.

In civil cases, this identification can only be sought in execution of a measure ordered by the judge hearing an action tending either to the establishment or contesting filiation instruction, or the obtaining or removing subsidies. The consent must be previously and expressly collected. Unless expressly indicated to the person in his lifetime agreement, no DNA identification can be carried out after his death.

Alternate translations for the phrase “filiation instruction” include “statement of parental ties” or “statement of parentage”.

Source.

cassandra, yeah, given how many times Pell has been caught out, and Mr Al too, I think we have far fewer actual trolls than the numbers would indicate.

pecunium – the Plantaganets and Tudors have heaps of descendents, regardless of their current surnames or titles. The DNA search to verify if the skeleton found in Leicester was Richard III used a descendant of one of his sisters (who lives in Canada, iirc), and the British royal family is descended from Margaret Tudor, who married James IV of Scotland. Prince William is doubly descended from them, because Princess Diana descended from Charles II, which takes her back to the Tudor line as well.

BS: That’s because I’m only focusing on an issue (paternity fraud) that affects relationships with cis straight men and cis straight women! Can you name a single gay couple or trans couple or cis/trans mixed couple affected by paternity fraud? No! So what does that community have to do with this issue? I’m not erasing them at all!

That’s textbook erasing. You don’t know of such things, ergo such things can’t exist and so you can ignore them and say, “it’s not relevant”.

Value is literally something that we make up. literally. It means nothing outside of your mind. Nothing has any objective value.

Except your biological children, those have value.

Dude, can’t you even keep your own (professed) beliefs straight? It’s only one thread. I’m sure you could outline it, or make 3×5 cards when you introduce a new “gotcha” so you don’t keep stepping on your own dick.

It’s not a racial slur. There are thugs of all races. It refers to a type of person who engages in destructive and criminal behavior and is admired by the whole world for being a “badass” who destroys peoples’ lives. An example would be Ted Bundy. Another example is Jeremy Meeks.

Or any dude on Wall Street.

So did I read correctly, and you claim to be French? Because French Feminism is very different to US feminism, so why are you so pissy about what happens in the states, when it’s not really relevant to where you live?

If you guys don’t support paternity fraud then what’s up with what you guys are doing in France and Australia? What’s up with the McDonagh article? What’s up with the new article/opinion in Pediatrics (the journal) that advocates against paternity testing?

What’s up is (see previous comment on your intellectual skillz) you don’t understand what you read.
You don’t have the right to use your value system to superceded mine.

So you are what… having a public wank? By the rules of your value system, there is no one system better than any other, so you have zero reason to complain about how the world works. Other people (to their selfish advantage) have different values from yours. They outnumber you. You lose.

Libertarianism in action.

Stop whining.

sebhal: My only issue is how come he really believes that feminism actually force him to stay with mother when he doesn’t want to?

He means pay child support. See, once there is a divorce, then the woman should pay all the costs of the child because REASONS!
