TV APPEARANCE: I’ll be on Al Jazeera America today at 12:30 ET, debating Robert O’Hara of A Voice for Men

My trump card in every debate.
My trump card in every debate.

Just a quick heads-up: I’ll be appearing on The Stream on Al Jazeera America today at 12:30 PM ET, debating Robert O’Hara of A Voice for Men. We’re in the opening segment of the show, which covers both the Men’s Rights movement and (in a separate segment) the issues of Father’s Rights. Also weighing in on Men’s Rights, the awesome Soraya Chemaly. For the rest of the people on the show, see here.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like Al Jazeera archives episodes of its shows, nor does it stream its shows online, so you’ll have to watch this using that “television” thing that used to be such a big deal. The show will be rerun on Thursday, also at 12:30 PM ET.

To find out if your cable/dish company gets Al Jazeera America, go here.

Oh, and I have a favor to ask: if any of you have a way of recording your TV and a way of getting that video into a form that could be, say, emailed to me, could you do that? I would love to have a copy of the show. Thanks!

Congrats David! I wish I could watch it. I do everything online and don’t even have a tv anymore. Hopefully that archive place will have it up soon. Oh and thanks for citing my work. Before I started blogging about the Manosphere, myself and a few friends continually rooted them out on Youtube. Unfortunately, much of that work is gone due to false flagging and false DMCA’s.

Woody, buddy, do you have a hobby? A thing you enjoy? I don’t care what is it, gardening, knitting, model airplanes. I just desperately need the reassurance that you actually have something that makes you happy besides brown-nosing other MRAs.

RE: genderneutrallanguage

this isn’t posted on the castroller link posted above. Does anyone have a good link to this so I can watch it?

Why should we give it to you, GNL?

RE: Children of the broccoli

By that logic feminism can’t be misandrist because there are male feminists.

*cocks head like perplexed beagle* You act like institutionalized oppression of men is a thing.

LBT: I don’t think CotB means that misandry *is* a thing, I think zie just means that even if it *were* a thing, feminists still couldn’t be misandrist by MRA logic.

Katz is correct; I don’t think misandry is a real thing (because it’s not), I was just pointing out that even by MRA logic that statement was illogical and hypocritical.

I don’t have a TV and I was at work today.
Is this like the last debate David had with someone from AVFM where David refuted every single point made, but the MRAs proclaim victory for some reason?

Saphy, your citation is “Jingo” when Vimes and alternate Vimes got eachother’s Disorganisers.

My landlords dog ate my Jingo.

I’m sure they’re still spinning it as a victory somehow, but the host had done enough research into the rhetoric of the MRM to make it difficult for O’Hara to come off as genuine or professional. MRAs benefit from people being unfamiliar with the MRM – it allows them to trot out relatively non-offensive statistics and tone down the misogyny for a couple minutes in an effort to come off as rational and well-meaning. One of the hosts on this segment was definitely savvy to this tactic and confronted O’Hara about it.

Ah, that old reporters’ trick where they do background work and then hold the guest accountable for what they’ve actually said and done – the ultimate in gotcha journalism!

David, you received a mention in this Al Jazeera article where the SPLC is interviewed.

Rats, it looks like The Stream on Al Jazeera English and The Stream on Al Jazeera America are two completely different entities. I don’t think this episode will be on that particular CastRoller archive. 🙁 Sorry. I think the American program is pretty new, so fingers crossed there’s a recording out there somewhere.

@Auntie Alias

David’s mentioned in an interview with SPLC about MRM? Cue my LOLs, many MRA tears and a shit storm in the comments.

@brooked

The article is now listed in the AVFM sidebar and there are still only three comments! Maybe because they need to sign in with a social media account?
