VIDEO: Misogyny Theater Presents: John Hembling in "I Don't Give a @$%# About Rape!"

Welcome to the first episode of Misogyny Theater, our new animated series, bringing you the best of the worst of YouTube misogyny.

In today’s episode, we revisit an old video from John The Other, also known as John Hembling, a fellow most of you already know pretty well. The monologue in this video is an unedited excerpt from a YouTube rant of his, minus some of the distracting background music that was included in the original.

Content Note: The misogyny in this one is pretty bad, even by John the Other standards.

I will try to produce at least one of these a week. There’s plenty of misogyny on YouTube, so it’s doubtful I’ll run out of material any time soon. I will also be doing a series based on Creepy PMs. Big thanks to everyone who’s pointed me to interesting candidates for future videos, as well as to those who’ve volunteered to do voice work or who’ve sent in pictures of their pets. Thanks as well to the anonymous Friend of the Mammoths who put together the snazzy title sequences here.

In my post announcing my video plans last week, I offered some suggestions on how to help; I’m going to write up a most detailed FAQ on this shortly.

John’s original video is no longer up on YouTube, but you can see clips from it — including the portion I used in the video above — in this more recent video from him in which he tries to explain away the horrible things he said. Apparently it was just a big joke! All in good fun!

EDIT: Removed an embedded video that was no longer functioning because it’s been removed from YouTube.

EDIT 2: For a mashup of Hembling’s original video, along with another video of his in which he pointedly refuses to apologize for the original video, see here, courtesy of Mancheeze.

I’m looking forward to mocking the shit out of that convention, but I think Malcolm’s pathetic pleas for attention will tide me over until then.

I think the self-censorship is less likely to be funny and more likely to just be a giant train wreck because they honestly don’t understand what’s wrong with what they’re saying. So I think they’ll just act like they always do.

No Malcom, not really. I would imagine it’s a lot like toddlers on a play date comparing what kind of boogers they have or how often they piss their pants.

I don’t even understand what the guy is even trying to say in the last minute of the video. I mean, I can understand trying to explain the context and mindset in which he said some awful things, but the whole last minute and a half it sounds like he’s trying to justify everything /he just said he didn’t mean/. When you go and say it was justified, everything you just said about “not meaning it/I was bullied into saying that” immediately becomes void.

And his argument in the last minute is messed up too. So if I see a murder going on I shouldn’t try to stop it? I shouldn’t try to call 911? Nothing? I should just walk around least “I put my life on the line?” Or if I see someone stealing another student’s laptop I shouldn’t try to tell them to stop and/or report what happened to a school staff member? I should just turn the other way and ignore it? *insert something about gender here*

And he calls himself a human rights activist? O_o

Hi WatermelonSugar!

I just watched the rebuttal video. Quite the strawman he set up, angrily insisting he’s not obliged to put himself in harm’s way to rescue a rape victim. He had it right the first time: “I don’t give a fuck.”

David, on your YouTube description you mentioned that JtO is no longer part of the AVFM inner circle. I wasn’t aware of that. Do you know what happened?

I can’t believe how you people are completely discounting his explanation that “his rhetoric came from… trying to address some of the arguments by gender feminists on YouTube… asking questions, asking for clarification, challenging them on their assumptions and attempting to foster some sort of the honest exchange of ideas, even an argument”. Plus, you can totally tell he wasn’t being serious because the video had a soundtrack.

You gender feminist types are the worst, by golly.

So all the evil shit the MRA’s have said in the past is now some sort of guerrilla theatre? They really think the public is that stupid.

I don’t watch much YouTube commentary, but I find myself somewhat skeptical that a large number of YouTube feminists constantly repeat the mantra that “all men are evil and all men are rapists”. Not sure why, but I’m skeptical.

Also, men aren’t expected to always “put them in the line of fire” and “dispense violence” when they see a crime in progress, they can use that new fangled invention, the telephone, to call the police instead.

“I didn’t mean it, but also, I was totally right.” It’s like he’s hoping we’ll go with whichever one wins him the argument and magically forget the other one.

John is also on record stating that he once saved a woman from being assaulted. Are you going to put that in your “Misogyny Theater”?

Woody,
John is apparently not affiliated with Paul anymore so you don’t need to kiss his ring anymore.

1. On the record stating means shit coming from this asshole. Link to some objective third party evidence on the matter of GTFO.

2. He’s also on the record saying he doesn’t give a fuck about rape victims. I don’t really care if he did something good in the past.

You mean like how he fended off a pack of 30 vicious feminists armed with boxcutters?

I mean, he definitely has said he did that, but as to whether or not it actually happened is another matter entirely. And he’s already proven he’ll lie to make himself look good.

And it doesn’t matter if he did intervene in an assault – what he’s saying right here is still misogynist bullshit.

Boxcutters or wild dogs?

Can we hold you to the same standard? Can we make you say something critical of Paul Elam every time you kiss his ass here?

::snort::

Yeah, Pauly’sWoody, John Hembling says he saved a woman from being raped. He also says he was attacked by a mob wielding boxcutters. Trouble is, there’s video proof that the latter claim is a lie. Why should anyone believe the first claim?

Woody, no! I had such hope for you expressing some kind of thought or interest belonging solely to you!

RE: malcolm johnston

Aren’t you all getting excited that MRAs are coming together to discuss our views, learn from one another and socialize in just a few short days?

Yeah, if they don’t change the venue again and require a chromosome test first. It’s YOUR party dude, go celebrate it with the people who’re actually going.
