Ok, folks, brace yourself, because this story of anti-male oppression is tough to read. Not because it’s badly written and completely implausible — no, no, not that — but because it reveals the evil workings of the feminazi oppressors at their most vicious: when they are targeting high school juniors for no other reason than because they are walking down the hallway too close to FEMALES involved in the annual Eating of the Fetuses Women’s Mentor Day, during which the school’s FEMALES are given inspiring talks and free lunch and gift certificates for, I dunno, let’s just assume they’re for some of those “Boys are Stupid, Throw Rocks at Them” t-shirts.
Anyway, so it’s Women’s Mentor Day, and young Zorfsic is going about his business:
I was walking to my 4th hour class that just so happen to stray near the Women’s Mentor Meeting. Thinking to myself “That time of the mont… I mean year, again!”. When all of a sudden a woman who does not work at the school grabs me by the arm and throws me onto the stairs as if she wanted me to sit. “What are you doing here! This is for females only! That mean girls, if you aren’t smart enough to catch on!”. My friend and my girlfriend came to me and as he planned it for year my buddy yells “Back off! This young man has nothing to do with you Feminist Nazi camp! He was just walk to his class!”. She grabbed him and took him to the office. My girlfriend was trying to help me up but another woman told her to stop and said “Let him do it. He doesn’t deserve your help.” and at that moment the schools security came to take me to the office. After explaining what happened me and my friend got suspended for trying to “stop a school planned event” that we tried to stay away from.
I cannot believe how completely true this story is. I don’t think I’ve ever read anything more true than this. It’s true SO HARD I had to put the especially true parts in bold. Apparently a good number of Men’s Rights Redditors agreed, as the post got more than a dozen upvotes, and poor misandried Zorfsic got mostly supportive comments from the crowd.
Granted, one dude — who was quick to point out that he totally thought the story was true — did suggest that Zorfsic might possibly consider trying to improve his writing ability, given that his post was “written with some level of theatrics and could easily be posted on an anti-MRM website to discredit what MRA s work for.” But, you know, every true prophet has his naysayers.
Note: I found this story through a post in the AntiMensRights subreddit. Amazingly, some of the people there doubt its veracity. Or at least they’re pretending that they do.
Note 2: In case any MRAs come by and get mad, yes, I Googled it, there actually is such a thing as Women’s Mentor Day, which is an annual event at one Arizona High School, and, yes, girls do get free lunches and gift bags. It’s the rest of the story that seems a tad made-the-fuck-up.
Ugh. I grew up one town over from Bedford and I’m not at all surprised by this. It’s a predominantly white, very wealthy suburb, with a lot of privilege-blind kids who are unaware of their own bigotry. “Jail the Jew” is just an updated version of “Smear the Queer”.
tl;dr Lord of the Flies is nonfiction.
I read a thing a few years ago that predicted this if the economy didn’t get better. And it hasn’t. Angry, desperate people need targets, it seems. It’s a shame they don’t focus their anger on the banking industry, and effect some useful change.
Also, rats freak me the fuck out. I’ve never seen one in real life, and hope I never do.
I haz important information!
*ahem*
Probably everyone knows about this, but there is a lolcat translator.

When it comes to cats, I’ve never made it as far as shelter.
Too many people don’t fix their cats. Add to that, local college students like to rent houses and buy pets, and then leave those pets after 4 years just out on the street. So I’ve had a cardboard box kitten that was abandoned at a local elementary school, and someone’s ex-cat where they were thoughtless and didn’t even take off the bell, but had no identifying information on the cat.
I also have two rescue turtles. Kids take them, keep them for a week when they are tiny, and don’t realize these guys lose all instinct to survive once handled extensively by humans. The cats were good about the box turtles, so both could be left to wander the house freely, and usually we’d just find them curled up with each other napping over a heating vent when the weather got cooler.
Updated? Considering how old anti-semitism is, someone must have come up with that long ago.
We had a small reptile rescue group locally a few years ago and a pet store ran a promotion if you brought in your report card with at least 3 A’s you could get a free hermit crab. Giving animals away tends to make me feel stabby in most cases but I digress.
Needless to say once kids realized that they weren’t particularly active pets, need at least a 10 gal tank with proper substrate and controlled temps, prefer to live with other crabs and they would pinch, the shelter was overwhelmed with them. I had originally met the founder of the group at a fund raiser for a rabbit rescue group and we got talking about our love of hermits so he contacted me to adopt 6 more. It’s wasn’t a regular national shelter in so much as a group of people who enjoy reptiles and hermit crabs.
I strongly advise people who are looking for any type of pet to google to see if there is a shelter for the animal they want to adopt. You’d be surprised what might come up.
Zippydoo, the image of turtles and cats curled up together on a vent is totally adorable and made my morning.
I saw someone on the Intarwebz who had trouble keeping track of their turtle when said Yertle was let out of its terrarium for some exercise.
Their solution was to tie a balloon around it.
One turtle with a balloon coming right up:

Neuroticbeagle, I think that’s the photo I saw!
Rats make pretty good pets. Best to get them young, and rear them so being handled is something they enjoy (though most will come to it even if they are gotten quite well grown).
The don’t live all that long, and they are social, so two or three is a good number. Cages need to be cleaned regularly, and wire-mesh floors aren’t great (an affliction referred to as, “bumble-foot” is the result) because of the high relative pressure on the pads of their feet.
They are friendly, and intelligent, and quite sociable.
Unlike mice rats are social in mixed gender groups with more than one male; but you will get baby rats unless you get them spayed/neutered. I don’t recall if rats are like rabbits in that spaying/neutering extends their lifespan.
(not only did have I kept rats, mice, rabbits, and guinea pigs: in the “small mammal” category of animals I have lived with, I also worked for a veterinary practice which dealth with, “exotics)
They need a larger cage than you think, want toys, and their diet is best mixed (lab pellets make a tolerable bulk food, but some fruits and veggies make them healthier).
katz: Rabbit Rescue is also very good in the LA Area (we did free spaying/neutering for them at the vet)
My cat (pictured in icon) is a mutt I adopted from a shelter, who was languishing because he was “too old” according to the employees. Twelve years later and he’s still his sweet friendly little (giganto for cat, but little to me) self. I know I maybe just got lucky, but I was told again and again that I shouldn’t adopt an adult cat and it turned out wonderfully for both of us.
Hi, AJ, good to see you on site! π
@amandajane5 Love your giganto. Except for the witchy kitty & his brother, I’ve always adopted adult cats and every one has been a winner, even Emily who had obviously been very badly treated and was terrified of everyone when I got her & looked at me like I was a murderer (I ignored her for weeks & generally behaved in the most dull & boring way in front of her until she realised I was actually harmless π ).
RE: Sam-I-Was?
a pet store ran a promotion if you brought in your report card with at least 3 Aβs you could get a free hermit crab.
Ugh, that’s awful. Animals are not toys! They require care and attention! Auuuugh.
I think the benefits of adult cats is that there personalities are fairly well set and obvious, though kittens have personalities too. (There was one litter I met at the shelter that loved playing with string toys but would run away when I tried to pet them/pick them up. Pan and his sisters loved getting picked up, and Pan would stare at me from his cage.) I was considering finding a bonded pair of adult cats before I fell in love with my babies.
I wonder if it is easier for adult cats to accept a new kitten into the home than a fully grown adult cat, though. I know my parents’ cats, who were introduced as adults, don’t really like each other much.
I believe the general rule is that a kitten of the opposite sex tends to be accepted most easily.
the “like he planned all year” bit was what got me the most. He was just waiting for the moment when he could call someone a feminazi. Watching and plotting. And boy did he tell her!
@jessay, and if our narrator knew that “he planned all yearβ”, that means the narrator & his friend sat around, talking about what he planned to say. For a whole year. And still, that was the best put-down they could come up with. So sad.
They were worried about Clark (yes, I named my cat after Superman) because he was found dumped by the side of the road, but he’s been unfailingly sweet and friendly. I actually even have a leash for his harness and sometimes I’ll take him for a walk down to the park, which is always amusing, and generally ends up with him being carried quite a bit, but he loves to be out and about. π
My old cat used to try to play with the dogs at the park. It seemed to confuse them.
When I was a wee singlet, the neighbors cat adored us more than his actual owners, to the point that he would come when he was called, follow us everywhere, and treat us as his human taxi service. (Note that since we didn’t know his name for a while, we had our own name for him, and that was the name he responded to.)
LOL. I’m just lost in the plotline.
But I would like to learn how to misander. π
Is anybody giving lessons …
