A Voice for Men takes on feminist [rhymes-with-bunts] with new poster campaign

No, this is real. I didn't make it up. I just blurred out the c-word.
No, this is real. I didn’t make it up. I just blurred out the c-word.

Last week I wrote about the fondness of a certain Men’s Rights website for a certain four-letter word starting with the letter c. This week they’ve topped themselves — with a postering campaign based on the c-word.

Yep: A Voice for Men has thrown its support behind a postering campaign with the slogan: “Having a vagina is no excuse for being a C*NT.”

They don’t use an asterisk.

The postering campaign, spearheaded by a Youtube antifeminist calling himself Bane666au, feature what purport to be real quotes from feminists alongside not-exactly-subtle stock photos depicting comically angry women. For example:

Every man is filth; I wish they were all dead."

I’m the one who blurred out the c-word; they left it intact. Other alleged feminist quotes include:

If a woman has drunk any amount of alcohol, she can’t consent to sex.

Nothing gives me more pleasure than the suffering of men.

Historically, women have been oppressed worse than black slaves.

That last one is a tad ironic. Not just because it’s a bit odd to contrast “women” and “black slaves” when half of all black slaves were women and girls. And not just because I never hear feminists making this claim. No, it’s a tad ironic because AVFM is constantly comparing men to slaves and suggesting that men are being “enslaved” by everything from child support payments to the women they date.

But I digress. You may wonder where exactly all these alleged quotes come from. In the comments to his AVFM post promoting the postering campaign, AVFM’s Dean Esmay blithely assures readers that “most or all” of the sources of the quotes can be found “right at the end of the video.”

This is not — how should I put it? — true. In fact, the percentage of quotations accurately sourced at the end of the video is a lot closer to “none” than to “most.” Bane666au, for his part, only claims that “all comments are based on actual comments I’ve seen or heard from self proclaimed feminists.”

Apparently he has an extremely loose definition of “based on” because only a couple of the actual quotes from Tumblr feminists he includes at the end of his video bear much resemblance to his, er, paraphrases.

Many of the alleged “hateful” quotes are obvious jokes, taken completely out of context, taking aim at popular perceptions of feminists. Here’s one screenshot from his video (with the name of the poster blurred out):

So who is the terrible misandrist who posted this terrible thing? I went and looked at her Tumblr. It consists of a lot of arty photos of her, mixed with pictures of favorite bands, some of her own artwork — and various pictures of various boyfriends, all evidently remembered with much fondness. On Valentine’s Day she posted some Valentine’s Day cards she designed and drew, inspired by The Smiths and Fleetwood Mac. She’s an excellent artist. There was no hatred to be found there.

And it’s a little hard to see how anyone but a misogynist who has named himself after a Batman villain could possibly interpret this comment, from another Tumblr feminist, as “misandry.”

And speaking of reasonable statements interpreted as misandry, here’s my favorite poster in Bane666‘s batch of posters:

Now, I hope I don’t shock anyone here by saying it, but the wage gap is real. There’s some debate over the size of it, and to what degree it is appropriate to attribute the gap to women’s “choices” rather than discrimination. But it exists. Even the study most cited by those who like to downplay the gap, a 2009 Labor Department report prepared by the CONSAD Research Corp., found a roughly 5-7% wage gap that couldn’t be explained away by women’s “choices.” (See here for more.)

But MRAs have convinced themselves that the gender wage gap is a “myth.” Having failed to win over the rest of the world to this incorrect belief through the power of simple repetition, the folks at AVFM have evidently decided to move on to gendered slurs.

It will be interesting to see how this works out for them.

Okay, given that I just finished reading the Saga Of Mikey who Lives DIRECTLY ON THE BEACH, about how women can’t have their cake and eat it while riding on the Ferris wheel, this struck me as particularly funny. I needed a good giggle too, because I was finding the whole Screamy McRagepants rant over on that CDC thread incredibly triggering for some reason.

… You know, I think they are getting better at poster design. These clearly communicate “We hate women, especially feminists.” Their previous posters tended to communicate… nothing much, really, if you didn’t know manosphere memes (and sometimes even if you did.)

Their message is still shit, it just is exposed shit now.

I remember Bane666 and the debates we’d had on youtube. He’s definitely an anti-feminist and just as deluded as the rest of the anti-women degenerates.

No doubt, the avfm crowd has little hesitation, if any, using the ‘c’ word — even that asshole Victor Zen called Luci Green a ‘c’, after which Paul Elam praised him in the comment section. I mean, there was no reprimend for such language, just praise as quoted here and that video >

Paul Elam:

“Zen steps up to the plate. Green throws an underhand gimme in the center of the strike zone, and CRACK, the ball screams straight through Green’s roundish face and punches a hole in the center field wall without dropping an inch from where it left the back of Green’s head.”

So much for refraining from calling women the ‘c’ word, regardless of the circumstance. Avfm and affiliates just continue to bury themselves in a heep of horse shit enough to reek the neighborhood miles away. Though avfm and their paypal friend Victor aren’t the only ones ranting about Luci, a bunch of other misogynists are. And what I notice is a common trend when Elam fucks up, saying things like he’s using peoples donations for “personal living expenses”, the rest of his ass-kissing followers try and distract the world with nonsense against someone else, of which gets really loud — none of which I’m sure fools sensible people.

After Paul’s admittances and the Occidental spamming incident, I’d like to think avfm is over with and done. Yet even if it isn’t, they have always and always will have nothing but mindless cockroaches for followers. Zero quality people within their ranks at all levels.

Here are a couple of misogynist quotes .. “Women have no existence and no essence; they are not, they are nothing.
Otto Weininger

John Wesley (1703-91): “Wife: Be content to be insignificant. What loss would it be to God or man had you never been born”

Girlwriteslikeatwat and johntheothertwat and all the other twats are in it for the money especially Girlwriteslikeatwat,
Someone was querying why she didn’t have a page on wikipedia no less and someone pointed out, she hadn’t done anything that warranted her being on there.

Seriously? You want to complain about misogyny and its purveyors, and in the same post you use a gendered slur?

“Women still don’t get paid equally with men” is the oddest one.

How does saying this make someone hateful and angry? That poster is so ineffective it’s kind of breath-taking, there can’t be one person on earth who’s going to persuaded with that. The poster makes no sense at all if you don’t already know the “debate” over the gender wage gap and think it’s a heated ideological death match. It’s a childish hissy fit encapsulated in a failure to communicate.

Conservative reactionaries and memes are always an ugly mix.

What is AVFM hoping to accomplish from this?

It just seems like an excuse to plaster pictures of women captioned with the c-word up in public.

Ah, I love it…”don’t be THAT feminist.” Oh, you mean the one who actually point out misogynist shit instead of keeping quiet? Yeah, I’m definitely THAT feminist.

We don’t do gendered slurs here sirtooting.

In other news: I hope they display those posters *evil grin*. It would really be a great way of allowing the mainstream to see who they really are.

So simply stating women don’t get equal pay makes a woman a c*nt. She didn’t even say anything about how it was unfair, or why it is, or how it should change. She just stated it.

You gotta give it to them: no MRAs ever say that women are worthless except for their vaginas. This emphasis on using people only for sex is a strictly feminist behavior.

These were the guys who were all pissed off by the anti-DV posters, the one with the boy in the hoodie that says “Awaiting Instruction,” because the posters “demonized” men and boys, right?

Who is doing a gender slur? .. not I .. Where I come from TWAT means an idiot and you can tell I am using that word in that way, because two genders are being called it, at the very same time.
Oxford dictionary definition of the word TWAT.
noun
• vulgar slang

1a woman’s genitals.

2a person regarded as stupid or obnoxious.

Count me in the camp that hopes they plaster these posters up everywhere. They might as well pay for sponsored advertising on Google’s homepage saying, “The Men’s Rights Movement — We Really, Really, REALLY Hate Women.”

@Felisha

Her name is actually Laci, but yeah, they took such a harmless video explaining objectification in simple terms and made her into another one their “feminazis of the week” (fellow geeks might see what I did there 😛 )

The irony is that in the comments under many of the…ahem…”refutation” videos, are comment after comment talking about her tits, her appearance, speculating about how fat she’ll get…I saw one vulgar comment about how she isn’t even worth ejaculating on or something to that extent. So essentially all they’ve done is prove her point that it always comes down to women’s bodies and their body parts.

Youtube is a cesspit of MRA bullshit, lots of good examples for blogposts here, but I don’t blame David for not wanting to sift through it.

Official Brit chiming in! It’s a gendered slur in the UK too, so don’t try to pull the “where I’m from” nonsense.

sirtooting, are you being purposely dense? The word begins with the idea that a word for women’s genitals is just perfect to describe something “obnoxious”. It is a gendered slur because it’s negative effect derives from the idea that there is something wrong and bad going on with women and their parts, not because you used it to insult both men and women.

If you really are here in good faith, you will back off on this one, perhaps even offer an apology. And yet, I have this sense of an impending meltdown…

The word is a slang word and can have one of two meanings, the oxford dictionary is quite clear on this .. it is not a word that has an original meaning .. like the word bitch, which is a direct reference to a female dog.
You want to censor my speech due to your lack of understanding of a particular phrase that has no origin except in being vulgar .. and you don’t want the site to be accused of sexism, and yet there is no sexism in that term in the way that I have used it.
I go by dictionary terms and accept their definitions, what a pity you can’t..
