How to get upvotes on The Spearhead: Violent rape fantasy edition

So I found this lovely little shoutout in the comments to an inane post by W.F. Price on The Spearhead last week.

Let me just preface it with a big TRIGGER WARNING for its violent rape fantasy.

trigger-warning_design

geographybeefinalisthimself February 12, 2014 at 13:02 “Is there any amount of androsphere content that Manboobz Futrelle can read, that will make him switch sides? No.” A conservative is normally a liberal who has been mugged by reality. Futrelle would have to get ass-raped by reality so many times that he loses bowel control and contracts HIV and multiple incurable STDs before he would realize that feminism has zero benefit for men. Even after getting that badly burned, every single man will think, if he can come to his senses now, he could have come to his senses decades earlier. Like or Dislike: Thumb up 10 Thumb down 0

Ten upvotes. No downvotes.

I guess that’s technically a rape metaphor, but it’s the most graphic rape metaphor I’ve run across in a long time.

If you ever find yourself wondering why the so-called Men’s Rights movement has never done, as far as I can tell, a single fucking thing for male victims of rape — other than rant about it online in an attempt to one-up feminists — I think this comment suggests one highly plausible explanation: because many if not most MRAs don’t actually feel empathy for the vast majority of male rape victims, who are, after all, men in prison raped by other men. They see rape as an appropriate punishment for men they don’t like, and many actually relish the thought of certain men being raped.

Indeed, even the self-described “men’s human rights activists” at A Voice for Men think that rape jokes about men they don’t like are hilarious.

I mean, it goes without saying that MRAs generally have little or no empathy for women who are raped, and indulge in rape jokes about women all the fucking time, but you’d think they’d do a better job of at least pretending to care about raped men.

If you’re interested in an organization that actually does care about victims of rape and other forms of sexual abuse in prison — regardless of the gender of the victim  — you may want to check out Just Detention International.

These are the same evangelical assholes responsible for getting parents to abandon and/or attempt to kill their children because the kids are “witches”, right?

Not to mention that they’re pushing their goddamn agenda on another country.

Well then. I hope the next time some fundie preacher gets caught with a shitload of meth and a hustler, he’s put on the next flight to Uganda.

auggziliary,

They certainly have been a target of mockery for some considerable time – in my childhood I had a tape of Goon Show sketches where the late Peter Sellers dismantled the Flat Earth Society into very small pieces: Sellers mocks them as rather religiose Puritans who have been kept in ignorance by deliberate choice, as they seek to ban a whole lot of things like sport (as it involves playing with objects that are spherical) and to cover up women’s nudity or suggestive clothing (again involving a horror of body parts, quasi-spherical), and who make ludicrous predictions of the impending destruction of the world which have been passed by ‘on four separate occasions’.

The movement seems to be based on some form of biblical literalism – the bible in numerous places (e.g. Revelation) talks about the ‘corners of the earth’, although a better translation in some cases might be ‘extremities’ rather than ‘corners’; at any rate they interpret that as referring to the earth as a flat circle (which some thinkers in BCE times thought or hypothesised was true), and then contrive to come up with explanations for why ships at sea should disappear over the horizon, or why the earth appears spherical when photographed from space.

These beliefs also possibly have some connections with the myth that everyone in ancient times thought the world was flat, when there was plenty of evidence for a spherical earth (e.g. eclipses) that was well-known, as well as direct experimental work by Erastothenes to measure the circumference of the earth.

At any rate, I think the main thing is that the movement is grounded in appalling standards of education where honing the ability of people to use their brains has been completely discouraged from day one.

And they haven’t even produced anything as entertaining as the Creation Museum. Where’s the flat-earth equivalent of the dinosaur with a saddle on that visitors can ride? Disappointing.

Xanthe – ooh I know that Sellers sketch, it was Fuller’s Earth. He went into a complete rant cursing all things round. Priceless. Was it on Dark Side of the Goon?

These guys? Would be lucky if they could find their butts with both hands and a flashlight.

I think you meant fleshlight.

I wonder how many of them have tried to return their fleshlight after discovering that they couldn’t use it as a fleshlight. Or the other way round.

This is why customer service people should really be paid better.

Or, you know, as a flashlight. I think I need some sleep.

Do any of you remember John Hembling’s appearance on Canadian TV where he talked about the FBI redefining rape so it doesn’t include men?

I was just reading a 2013 FBI document that DOES redefine it to include males. Apparently it’s a new way of statistically counting rape.

I’m always kinda fascinated and horrified by folks who seem to actively discourage any kind of curiosity and discovery. Like, I understand why it happens — ignorance is a great form of social control — but JEEZ.

It’s a pity ignorance* isn’t a natural birth control. 🙁

* I mean willfully choosing to be ignorant, not people who are “ignorant” due to a lack of education, most often not due to anything they’ve done, but due to factors like poverty. Those people could be termed “under-formally-educated” as in “under-employed”, so not pejorative.

Uganda apparently just passed that law that would make homosexuality a crime punishable with life in prison. American right wing evangelicals were partially responsible for the law. I think they should get their US citizenship revoked.
Yes, the 1st amendment gives people the right to have shitty bigoted opinions but this is in the realm of serious human rights violation. It’s way past simply expressing beliefs.

It certainly violates the church/state separation, as well as being imperialistic as all hell. Speaking of which…if that place only WERE real, these dudes deserve to burn there.

Fundie preachers really do get away with murder, and not just in Africa.

I think you meant fleshlight.

They certainly seem dumb enough to try that. Even though Fleshlights are made to serve the purpose of a socket, not a plug…

@House Mouse Queen:

MRA seem to think FBI “demonizes men,” particularly those MRAs whose definition of masculinity includes “violent, antisocial behavior.” This seems to be true for law enforcement in general, too.

As for Hembling, apparently he doesn’t read. It’s much easier for him to make it seem like men are being oppressed by the big, bad Government if he just makes stuff up.

This just sounds awesomely hilarious, as a whole.

“I bought this fleshlight that was also supposed to work as a fleshlight you can use as a fleshlight, but it didn’t work as a fleshlight and I couldn’t use it as a fleshlight either. And it didn’t even include batteries!”

*customer service facepalm*

Kittehserf, yep that’s the one – I’d forgotten the name of the sketch, and it was on Dark Side of the Goon. It took me years to understand some bits of the rant where the Flat Earth Society character goes off the planet – pawnbrokers’ signs traditionally having three spheres, were amongst the things to be verboten; and of the many things that ‘Fuller’ had to complain about ‘the brides of Satan’ (i.e. women) some of the more confusing ones were their ‘fleshly lustre’ and ‘posturings and mincing gait’. At the age of nine or ten that made absolute zero sense whatsoever to me.

David, that was among the most hideous of rape fantasies I have ever had the misfortune to read. I think that the men who write these are actually wanting to do those things to other men, as well as women.

I am really sad that you were targeted like that.

Evil. Unspeakable and complete evil.
