Wil Wheaton to MRAs: You’re idiots. MRAs: Yeah, well, you’re a mangina! And women actually like you! And your narration is bad!

So the Men’s Rights movement has faced some setbacks in the past. The Southern Poverty Law Center profiling them as a movement filled with hate (if not literally a hate group by the SPLC’s strict definition). Events that literally no one showed up to. Paul Elam.

But MRAs have never faced anything quite like this.

Wil Wheaton — yes, that Wil Wheaton, the one who was on Star Trek TNG — has stated publicly that he thinks they’re a bunch of idiots:

Naturally, this tweet has the fellas in the Men’s Rights subreddit feeling hurt and angry. Well, they always feel hurt and angry, so I guess I mean they feel even more hurt and angry than usual, with a lot of this hurt and anger directed in a Wil-Wheatony direction.

Here are some of their comments. I don’t really have any jokes to make about them because, I mean, just read them. I can’t top this sort of ridiculousness.

Click on the individual comments to see them in context on Reddit. Oh, and note that this comment at the top has MORE THAN ONE HUNDRED UPVOTES.

giegerwasright 119 points 7 hours ago (150|31) Wil Wheaton has never had to live life as a regular man. He has never been treated by women as a regular man. He is a privileged white male. All those things that feminists say that white men have that we recognize are actually really only reserved for rich white men? Well. He's a rich white male. So. What do you expect? Perspective? LOL. He has media to sell and pussy to pander to for approval, hanglowstankin, and profit. permalink source save give gold hide child comments [–]cfornax 63 points 7 hours ago (82|17) Ironic isn't it. He undermines men to elevate his privileged status in eyes of feminists who wish to undermine his privileged status. permalink source save parent give gold [–]giegerwasright 39 points 7 hours ago (53|17) And that, my dear lad, is how the wealthy mangina maintains his status. Key word being "wealthy", a distinction that the unfortunately unwealthy manginas don't recognize. Always. Follow. The money.

Wait. What is “hanglowstankin?” Oh, never mind.

Also, I would bet a mint-in-box Wesley Crusher action figure that Wheaton didn’t call you guys “idiots” because he wanted to pander to “pussy” but rather because you are the sorts of guys who routinely refer to women as “pussy.”

ruboos [-2] 10 points 7 hours ago (16|6) Wil Wheaton has always been a self hating misandrist. I've never liked him. And his narration is atrocious. Listen to "Ready Player One" if you don't believe me. The dude is a joke. Thank you for calling him out in public. He has no excuse.

AnotherDAM 14 points 7 hours ago (24|10) Just because someone is famous in one context does not make him an expert in any, or every, other context. The man made a decent beer with Stone Brewing, he is incredibly practiced at talking with people so don't expect to win a war of words with him or out "cool" him. Just point out to him that he has had everything handed to him on a silver platter his entire adult life ~ he doesn't need to worry about money or getting girls or an invite to the uber-cool CES ~ does not actually mean his opinion matters to anyone but himself. He will eventually get it when all of his male friends start dying decades before his female admirers. permalink source save give gold hide child comments [–]VortexCortex [+1] 4 points 3 hours ago (5|1) I would merely appeal to his sense of logic: "There's much evidence to the contrary, Wheaton; You have not tried try to refute the null hypothesis before holding your belief." Not that it would actually work -- He's an actor who once played a young scientist -- but many of his viewers practice rationality.

DaveDodo007 1 point 46 minutes ago (1|0) Actor benefits from hypergamy, 'I'm all right Jack so fuck you lot.'

Your_Bacon_Counselor 3 points 5 hours ago (6|3) Mr. Wheaton works in an industry that provides the voice to the feminist agenda. If he has any mind what so ever, he knows he can't speak the truth even if he wanted to. Pity the poor servant.

AlphaWookieage of consent laws "criminalize human sexuality" 12 points 4 hours ago (19|7) Will's tune will change when his adopted son goes through the ringer.

But Wil had one defender amongst the Men’s Rightsers:

chocoboat 6 points 5 hours ago (25|19) Wil is still cool. He just got misinformed by some feminists, who in an effort to protect their privilege, smear the name of MRAs and fight against equality when it doesn't serve them. He was taught that MRA = a whiny bitch who wants a return to 1950s gender roles and can't stand women having any power over anything. Of course he thinks that kind of person is an idiot. Don't bash Wil, bash the people who misinformed him. I can virtually guarantee you that he would support the same pro-equality ideas that MRAs do, and that he's against the sexist situations that men sometimes run into (such as being arrested after calling police when your wife attacks you, or being made to change airline seats due to "every man is a pedophile" hysteria). permalink source save give gold hide child comments [–]Zetadood 17 points 4 hours ago (23|4) Nah, no one gets a pass for misinformed ignorance. If he changes his views later on that's different, until then he's a tool.

EDIT: H/T to the AgainstMensRighters for pointing me to this.

Can I go OT a second and ask a question of my fellow gamers? If I really love games like Fallout 3 and Skyrim, will I like Dishonored? I haven’t bought myself a new game since Skyrim, and am trying to find something like those — open world, etc. Any other suggestions of games similar games that were released recently? Oh, I play PC and PS3.

I’m a little annoyed that we have one character option — not everyone wants to play as a dude, I’m sorry!

I haven’t played Dishonored, but I’ve heard from close gaming friends that it is very good, if that means anything – I don’t think it’s entirely similar to Skyrim and Fallout, though. From what they’ve told me it’s open-ended, but less so than Skyrim/Fallout and also that it’s sort of Mass Effect-ish? (i.e. Your choices in the game about whether to be nice or be a jerk to NPCs will determine what kind of quests and other options you get.) Take that with a grain of salt though; you may well end up loving it.

As for open world games… Skyrim is the first one that comes to mind for me. Shenmue is a little old and I never really liked it much; let’s see, what else – Minecraft maybe? All I can think of are popular games or else outdated ones! D:

I feel you in the character department though! I never like having to play as a dude, but then I feel that half of games with female player character options are lacking in the realistic armor department.

(Now to hope that the blockquote monster is satisfied by my first offering.)

I have played all three. Yes, I think you will like Dishonored but there are a few things to keep in mind.

1) There are basically two ways to play: stealth and killing as little as you possibly can, or using lethal force on your enemies. How you play will ultimately affect the ending you get. I don’t want to give you spoilers, but there is a good ending and a dark one. That said…

2) Playing stealth is damn hard, even on the easy setting. This comes from someone who always tries to play stealth whenever I can, even on games that are not designed for it. In Dishonored, you can put a choke hold on an enemy and knock him out but it only works if no one is looking your way and you make no noise. This means that in an area where there are multiple enemies wandering around, you have to get creative. Like I said, it’s harder than it sounds.

3) If you want to try the stealth route, build up your non-lethal weapons and abilities, especially Blink. Blink allows you to teleport short distances so you can move over/around enemies without them seeing you. Look around a lot before moving into an area, particularly up, because you can take to the rooftops and other structures instead of being bound to the ground.

The game will show you your stats at the end of each campaign and gives you the option of going back and trying again. If you play stealth, you might need to do the campaigns several times to keep your Chaos (kill) level down.

Hope this helps.

Hit and run. Notice in the thread I linked to, how upset they get because the troll is evidently enjoying him or herself? Basically, have your own fun in order to spoil theirs.

This what that Kitt person thinks ? Its actually kind of sad how oblivious some of these trolls are . Thinking they have terribly upset people here and “spoiled ” the fun ,When the reality is they are literally being laughed at . They are being mocked for fun and they don’t even seem to notice .I was reading back where this person was trolling apparently enjoying him /herself ? No kidding while reading their comments an image formed in my head of a human body with a donkey head .

Yet this person who is being laughed at because seriously not even realizing the difference between equal and identical ,as just one example, thinks they have upset people?

The closest to “upset” I got over anything he/she said was cringing a few times in a little bit of embarrassment for them .

Now, of course those people have faced some difficulties relating to their orientation- but really, they don’t have it that bad.

Other than not being able to get married in a lot of places. Or being fired for being gay which is legal in something like 30 states. Or refused housing because they’re gay. Or refused medical care because they’re gay. Or facing discrimination at work for being gay. Or being beaten or killed for walking down the street for being gay.

Other than that, yeah. Life is sweet.

Jesus wept.

buttboy69 was, in all likelihood, one of those Occupy supporters (probably not even an actual Occupy protester, just one of their internet advocates) who wanted women actually at the protests to stop complaining about sexual harassment and rape (and in particular, to never go to the cops about it), because that was giving the movement a bad name.

cassandrakitty, I’m sorry that black woman was inconvenienced by a police officer. If she’s wealthy, she still has it better than 95% of people in the world.

Aw, looks like I missed a new troll to bat around. Buttboy69 sure is a charming, mature individual who makes a great case for racism being minor compared to wealth inequality, which explains why poor white Americans are over represented on the welfare rolls and poor black Americans are under represented. Because it’s all about class, you see. *facepalm*

Thanks, flightofdragon and theladyzombie! I went ahead and got it; I was able to get the GOTY version with all DLC included for $29. The benefit of being really slow to get new games, lol. I just recently started doing a stealth character on Skyrim, but it sounds like it’s a much trickier proposition in Dishonored!

Think libertarian capitalism minus the state. Instead of the state enforcing property rights, “private defense associations” hired by corporations take the role of enforcing those rights.

I swear I’ve read futuristic sci-fi dystopias with this exact premise.

Again, I think it’s offensive to place relatively transient, relatively minor “oppressions” like racism, homophobia, and misogyny/misandry on the same level as class, which again, determines your entire life.

I’m sure Trayvon and his family would agree that his murder was transient and didn’t affect his entire life.

You keep ignoring the many well-demonstrated ways in which other oppressions limit one’s access to class privilege. Fuck privilege-denying, you’re straight up reality-denying.

Well, let me ask you this, dingleberry: would you rather be a poor white man, or poor black man? Or a poor black woman? Or a poor black lesbian?

THANK YOU.

The point is, a gay orientation might provide some difficulties, but it’s all minor when compared to the effect that class has.

Being raped, beaten or murdered is not minor.

And way to ignore how things like hiring discrimination, housing discrimination, and lack of access to marriage affect one’s income. It’s almost like these things play off each other!

Also I’m still waiting on your list of what “realists” have gotten done compared to feminists, anti-racist advocates, socialists, LGBT activists, and other minority activists,

I’m still waiting for this too .It was asked pages ago and since repeatedly .i don’t understand why the question is so difficult . He stated they are realists” so they get stuff done .He should have at least one example of significance.

How is class less transient than race? We don’t live in the feudal society any more, bucko. Poor people can become rich. Guess what kind of people can have their poor background ignored if they become rich? White people.

Yeah, so in North Carolina a grand jury has decided not to indict the police officer who murdered a black man who was seeking help after being in a serious car accident.

Tell me again how racism is transient and relatively minor.

I’m sure you all know this, but dudes like butttroll always focus on class because it’s the only form of oppression they have any chance of experiencing. So obviously IT’S THE MOST IMPORTANT THING EVAR.

And frankly I’d lay odds that this douchenozzle has not in fact ever experienced oppression because of his class anyway.

Now I must psyche myself into going outside. *shivers*

…But he did write a whole long scene about how out-of-touch liberals are for daring to suggest that the tech world might privilege certain types of people.

In the same book where he later talked about how tech companies are all white guys so they have to hire mixed-race women as secretaries to fill their diversity quotas.

Geez, it’s not like the entire point of the cyberpunk genre was to point out that transhumanism + capitalism = the rich becoming supermen at the expense of the poor.

I wouldn’t put misandry on the same level as class, either.

And yes, it is in fact the most important thing ever. Actually, I used to think like you all did, when I was immature and self-centered. But then, through a variety of ways, I came to viscerally understand both how pervasive and how horrific poverty really is in this shitty world. No, I do not think that any other form of whiny so-called “oppression” is in any way comparable to going hungry.
