So Reddit’s Men’s Rightsers are in a tizzy over a bullshitty piece in the Daily Telegraph warning of an evil worldwide plot to force men to pee sitting down.
The evidence for the existence of such a plot is a bit on the skimpy side — the Telegraph writer leads off with a reference to a 2012 proposal from a County Council member in Sormland, Sweden that doesn’t seem to have gone anywhere legislatively but that’s been a favorite evil-feminist story on conservative websites ever since.
The very notion that some evil feminist might force them to sit while they spray has Men’s Rights Redditors in an unusually combative mood. Heck, it’s got some of the regulars thinking that it might well be time to start doing some good-old fashioned murdering. No, really.
Yep. In case you’ve been wondering, suggesting “a campaign to assassinate feminist figures” because some local council member in Sweden had a dumb idea will in fact win you upvotes on the Men’s Rights subreddit.
Strikerfm1, by contrast, seems almost moderate with his “tie feminists down and urinate on them” proposal.
The World’s Greatest 21st Century Human Rights Movement, folks!
Thanks to the AgainstMensRights subreddit for pointing me to this horrible crap.
EDIT: The “let’s murder feminists” comment has been taken down by the subreddit mods, though the user hasn’t been banned for it; the “I want to tie a feminist down and pee on her” comment remains up, and still boasts upvotes.
wordsp1nner — ok, I’ll chill then! It’s a pet peeve of mine, having had the wonderful pleasure of nine months of the first line TB antibiotics (oh yeah, I somehow managed to pick up latent TB in the US…at least it was here, a decade ago, where it was those drugs). The second line, and third, and wtf they resort to at that point…I can’t imagine what hell that must be. As it was I had another pill to go with them, to keep them from killing my liver, and blood tests and omgs this is the “easy” treatment?!
As for shopping around for drugs, idk what country you’re in, and if you have them there, but LBT must have one close by — CVS will price match, and, if you have them there LBT, giant eagle has a cheap drug plan.
Oh, speaking of on topic and gendered bathrooms, I’ll use both, depending on circumstances. Once, as a pre-teen, at a rest stop at fuck o’clock, in the dark and snow, my brother, me, our aunt and grandmother all just bundled into the women’s room (he’s younger than me, safety in numbers, that sort of thing) — well, the stall I used looked like somebody’s had a damned kid in it, there was blood EVERYWHERE. None of it outside the stall or anything, so I doubt it was a crime scene, but dear gods was it a lot of blood. Men’s rooms? Learn. To. Flush!
Women’s rooms do seem to have less functional toilets, but as a percentage, the ones that just need to be flushed out number the actual broken/clogged ones in the men’s rooms.
So other than that one off stall from a horror movie, I’d call it nearly an even split — men seem less likely to flush, but women’s rooms seem more likely to have TP on the floor and clogged toilets and such. But as someone noted upthread, TP in long strands under multiple stalls? Clearly that’s the result of a kid, not an adult.
All in all, the only reason I see to prefer men’s rooms is they tend to have shorter lines! (Well, only reason besides the obvious personal preference reasons)
🙁 Hope you feel better soon LBT. Being sick SUCKSSSS.
Since you seem to be laboring under the impression that you’ve gotten off on the wrong foot with me, I’d just like to say that you seem cool and nothing you’ve said has offended or annoyed me in any way.

Is there some sense to be made out of this? I haven’t had enough caffeine..but, huh?
I told Husband about this thread, and he told me that when he worked in daycare for little kids, they did firmly tell all boys that at this place, we pee SITTING DOWN. Ostensibly for pragmatic reasons, so the staff didn’t have to wipe piss all the time, but obviously the real reason is that Husband too is part of the world-wide FEMINAZI CONSPIRACY.
Well, obviously. I mean, he’s Swedish.
(IKEA is misandry)
Oh joy, everyone! Strikerfm1had more to say to someone (not an MRA) who called him out for misogyny and homophobia (spoiler alert: it is more violent misogyny and homophobia. Also TW for sexual assault threats):
He seems a little confused about how street signs work. Anyway, this comment, at least, was downvoted.
IKEA is super misandry. Those chairs, frilly stuff and scented candles.
@kittehserf: don’t get sick at all near my grandma, she will stuff you with food, love and weird homemade medicine.
@sparky: thanks, you are welcome! =D It is indeed delicious, quite sweet, but nice. I remember having it quite a lot as a child when I was sick. It made me feel better and it was yummy! ^^ Also definitely nice for when it is cold. Warms you up quite nicely!
I love how they sometimes grasp things without grasping things. It is delightful.
I am surprised it was down voted, to be honest. I mean, happily surprised.
@cuspisinique
‘There’s also that woman who’s been knitting out of her crotch which people have been in a tizzy about.’
Please tell me she’s knitting a merkin.
@Tina S
I couldn’t bring myself to read the whole of that AVFM article, I got as far as the chest thumping stats on male employment, which btw make an excellent case that there’s inequality in the work place. I just wish these guys would make up their minds, either they are the superior sex that runs the world, in which case they don’t need a men’s right organization, or they are oppressed victims of an evil matriachal conspiracy, can’t have it both ways boys.
I know I’ve asked this question before, but still…
Back to topic, I’ve been trying to encourage my two year old son to learn to pee standing up, does that make me a FeMRA?
IKEA is also misandric because they make you PAY EXTRA for pads on the HARD CHAIRS.
ECONOMIC MISANDRY.
Dude, PLEASE. You are totally an MRA. With talk like that, you can’t be anything else, because anything else would require brains.
And yeah…what is up with that lesbian fixation? I guess somebody’s miffed that there are ladybits out there that he will never get a chance to conquer because they only like other ladybits. Tragedy of the century, I’m sure.
And totally on a par with annexing Poland and sending Jews, Gypsies and gays to the gas chamber, too.
@Bina: just so you’re aware, g*psy is a slur used against the Romani. But yes, all of the things you said are correct.
He clarified later that he assumes feminists he agrees with must be “man-hating lesbians”* because “Sorry, can’t see a dick loving girl talking about the patriarchy ruining her shit.”
*Women are for men to have sex with, therefore women who do not want to have sex with men are obviously trying to spite them out of hatred. There’s no way that women’s attractions to other women could be about, like, the women themselves.
Disagrees* with, rather.
Kitty update!
He’s still super nervous about people standing and walking, but if you sit down he will come over and crawl right into your lap. The other cat is now walking right up to him–only hissing if he looks her in the eye. No fighting, because he’s a sweetheart who doesn’t want to.
Next step; convince him to use the litter box.
(he was just a little confused–the area in front of the fireplace looks and feels like his last litterbox, based on what little I saw of it when I was picking him up. Could have happened to anybody)
Howard: Pics soon?
Aw frack, Blockquote Monster. One hecatomb, coming right down…
More specifically, it was the Romani who were sent to camps in WWII, I believe.
It’s complicated and in dispute, and by no means generally agreed on as a slur. (It certainly HAS been used as a slur.) It also drifted in many languages from being specifically ethnic. (Romani just being one of many cultures described by it.)
It also seems to vary pretty dramatically by region as to how much it is used specifically as a slur.
😛 I think something like that can be arranged…
You’re totally right, I’m sorry. I should not have limited it the way I did.
As for it being a slur… many people who would be impacted or targeted by the word (a group that doesn’t include me) have referred to it as one and have asked that it not be used, and that’s all I need to know to stop using it. 🙂
I hope I didn’t come in like the Language Boss of Language though. Again, I’m not impacted by the slur so it’s not really my call. I just personally like to learn when terms I’m using have the potential to be harmful.
@justabrowngirl, just so you know, “twat” is widely considered to be a sexist word (it refers to the vagina and is pretty much always used as an insult). I heard you say English is not your first language, so I thought you might want to know.
@Sparky
I enjoy a good neti – or in my case, a good spray from a can of sterile saline sinus wash. One should always use sterile or boiled water (remember those guys in Texas who died from brain parasites?), and be careful when you’re sick – I’m told that if your sinuses are really stuffed and there’s nowhere else for the water to go, it can back up into your ear canal.
@Viscaria
Is that because “dick-loving girls” don’t believe in the patriarchy, or because loving dick means you’re happy to be oppressed by men? And what about the women who talk about patriarchy and also talk about having husbands or boyfriends? Are they lying? For what purpose? I must know!
