So someone went to the Men’s Rights subreddit the other day to ask the assembled Men’s Rights Activists a simple question: what sort of activism do you folks do? Specifically, the visitor asked, “Do MRAs have marches or campaigns or fundraisers?”
The post didn’t get much attention, but the answers that “Chickenjuggle” got were pretty, well, instructive.
Some Men’s Rights Redditors pointed to the astounding successes of the events organized by A Voice for Men, which have drawn literally dozens of people from around the globe — that is, more people than you are likely to see waiting for a bus (except during rush hour).
Others tried to claim credit for, among other things, Movember, a month-long prostate cancer awareness campaign that most MRAs have no more connection with than I do, and for the work of various Fathers Rights organizations that MRAs, by and large, have nothing to do with.
A few pointed to fundraisers that A Voice for Men has held … for itself. (Yes, if “fundraising” is redefined to mean “sending a lot of money to Paul Elam, without knowing what exactly he even does with it,” then, yes, MRAs are pretty active fundraisers.)
And the rest mostly offered excuses.
LAMFF explained that most men have a hard time fitting activism into their busy schedule of HUNTING THE MAMMOTH TO FEED YOU:
Others darkly intimated that it was much too dangerous for them to actually get up off of their asses and march, as they might risk their balls, or at least their jobs, and possibly even their spot on the couch. (I added that last bit; it seems like it would be important to them.)
As is well-known, no other activists in the history of the world have ever put themselves willingly at risk for their ideals.
Unkleman sniffed that those silly marches were probably sour, anyway:
That bit at the end about “false facts” is an interesting slip, huh?
TRPACC, meanwhile, insisted that sitting on your ass posting comments on the internet was, in fact, activism of the highest order:
In other words, this video from SomeGreyBloke turns out not to be a parody after all, but a dead-on accurate portrayal:
Ahem…NON-risible, thanks, Typo Monster.
Dallas –
It may seem at first glance that the MRA’s want to go back to the 1950’s, but once you read a little bit, you realize that they don’t want that, either. They want the privilege that went with being male in an old-school patriarchy, but they don’t want the responsibility. Their writing oozes with resentment for SAHM’s – aka “women sitting at home eating bon bons and leeching off of men”. They would look at a Fifties-style relationship and argue that the man was being exploited by the woman…using him for his money.
As for the FeMRA’s…it would be nice to think they’d wake up someday, but the best that’s likely to happen is that they’ll get thrown overboard one by one, like the Woolly Bumblebee. And there will always be another one waiting in the wings. That “pat on the head” – being told you’re different and better than all those other bitches – can be addictive indeed.
I have a very serious question…I just pointed this out to a friend, and now I must know.
Dude said MRA’s are keeping society running because it ain’t gonna be the ladies. How is it, then, that evil feeemales are running everything? Consistency and logic are misandry!
This post is comedic gold. I too loathe their stupidity but I almost hope MRAs would never go away. Not really. Dave, please write a book about this blog and the Manospherean people, whoever they really are, go on the Colbert Report and spread the laughter while simultaneously exposing them for their absolute pettiness. It’s got to be your destiny.

Yes, I’ve always been nonplussed by that one. How can women be utterly useless at everything and dependent on men for their very survival while simultaneously controlling the world in such a devious manner that it looks like the opposite?
SomeGreyBloke has a knack for sarcasm, that’s for sure, lol. Seriously, the whole of the manosphere is just a whining fest of bullshit, looking to blame an easy wrong target for their oppression and that’s women and feminism. The REAL problem is bad, corrupt politics…and too much video gaming and not enough constructive work.
Well, hey, we gotta hand it to them, they really are thinking of what’s best for everyone when they say they can’t do activism because, society. We all know that the US basically collapsed during WWII when all the young menz were away. Whoooooooooooooooops.
It’s always so cute when they claim the world will stop turning if they just up and left their jobs. Dudes, no. At least in the US, there’s some odd 10 million unemployed right now. You leave your jobs? There will be plenty more people to take your place.
Not fair! The men had to leave the workplace and fight because the women DEFINITELY couldn’t do that and it would be a total disaster if they tried! Whooooops.
Not to mention the womenz totally started those wars for more bon bon accumulation because, male disposability.
Also, on the “if you want to have a man strike, go ahead and have one” thing, for realsies I often think that in a lot of cases, if these festering sacks of unpleasantness left their respective workplaces, the folks who worked there would probably notice a sizable drop in workplace hostility and enmity.
@ Snork Maiden
I think they assume women are equal parts faking being useless and really useless so as to enslave the menz or… nope, nevermind, it doesn’t add up no matter what kind of bass ackwards logic I try to do to it.
Basically, women are always the enemies, for forever, no matter what.
There are 3 simple rules:
1. Everything good and useful in the world was created by men.
2. Everything bad and scary is the fault of women.
3. Ignore any evidence that contradicts your conclusions.
Thank you all for clearing that up for me. My ladybrain was incapable of paradox solution. All I could figure out was that making sense is misandry.
4. Making sense is misandry. (So is everything else.)
Didn’t we agree that blowjobs are not misandry, but only if they’re immediately available upon command and the woman doesn’t enjoy giving them?
I dunno, aren’t blowjobs an evil conspiracy to control men by way of their orgasms? Or else a divine right? I get those things mixed up sometimes.
Definitely needs those restrictions, plus she has to be at least an HB10.

I have a simpler one:
1. Whatever makes women look bad for the sake of your current rant is true.
RE: Brooked
Avoiding redundancy and having a basic grasp of English grammar is also Misandry, which is why this ass-backwards sentence is a prime example MRA activism.
I can’t remember the name, but we soooo got a troll here who insisted that the reason his words were so indecipherable was because of his misandrist English teacher tainting the whole business of communicating to him.
That was Mr Al in his Steele days.
Here’s something for MRAs to think about. Do they think that being a man automatically makes them superior to women since many of the great thinkers, inventors, statesmen, etc., were, and are, men? It shouldn’t since not all men are great thinkers, inventors, statesmen, etc. And there are women out there who were, or are, great thinkers, inventors, statesmen, etc.
Asking MRAs to thing = Misandry! 😉
^ or “think” even … damn you, typo!
There is no need to march. The revolution is in the mind. Thats how to defeat feminist hate.
Random necro troll is random. O.o But as long he keeps his revolution in his mind I guess harmless (but considering he is commenting here… we aren’t that lucky).
Revolution of the mind = trolls going round and round in circles.
