Women are bitches: A new theory on the wage gap from the Men’s Rights subreddit

The standard MRA take on the gender wage gap is that it’s totally a myth disproved by SCIENCE. But now the gap is apparently a real thing again in MRA-land, or at least in the Men’s Rights subreddit, because a fellow calling himself mrwhibbley has figured out a way to blame it on the ladies:

I am a male nurse and have worked in several hospitals. I have to say that the comments and attitudes between women are the reason for 90% of the wage gap. Women are constantly tearing each other down, while often ignoring the male nurses. That allows the men to advance while the women in-fight. Also, women have attitudes noticed by supervisors that are often negative, as they berate and gossip about other employees. It takes its toll on the workplace and women do it to themselves. Then they try to blame men for the wage gap, glass ceiling etc. time to look in the mirror and do more than check your make-up.

For proof, I suggest you watch this completely 100% percent true and not at all obviously staged phony video below:

H/T to the AgainstMensRights subreddit again!

Like a Medtech told me that surgeons are horrible and condescending people, but I haven’t heard that stereotype anywhere else.

For the record, I’ve heard that a lot, and not just from people in medical fields.

As for nurses, four times in my life I’ve been in extreme physical distress–two of them life-threatening, two were post-surgery and I was safe but in a lot of pain–and nurses were particularly, absolutely wonderful to me. I mean wonderful to the point that I’ve never forgotten their kindness and professionalism. One was a young man who cared for me when I was experiencing the worst asthma attack of my life. One was a young woman who stayed calm and kind and did her best to help me in an emergency room while a horrible little nazi douchetool of a doctor berated me because I couldn’t answer his questions. He thought I was being “difficult;” in fact, the muscles in my jaws were freezing up like lockjaw. The nurse understood at once what was happening, and further, she reasoned that I was probably having a reaction to a common medication I’d recently been given (Compazine.) But she had to be very diplomatic about suggesting that because, you know, nurses aren’t supposed to know more than doctors. The nurses who cared for me post-surgery–as it happens they were both Caribbean immigrants (both women)–were incredibly kind and gentle. I still tear up when I remember the kindness of these people when I was at my most helpless. They went above and beyond.

I know of one surgeon who was a walking turd – a classist, racist, disgusting human being who stated that anyone poor (and that pretty much meant rolling in money like he was) deserved it, because it meant they were sluts and drug addicts who’d wasted their school years. This wasn’t hearsay, I read his own words.

Other than that, every surgeon I’ve had dealings with was pretty much okay, more or less likeable, as people in most fields will be. They do have a bad reputation in general for being unsympathetic and arrogant, but how much of that comes from fiction?

so I know this is super off topic but has anyone run aground Roosh’s article on why it is advantageous to date women with eating disorders? I want to know what the argument is(not that i can’t guess) but I’m afraid to actually go there and look at it.

Here’s a Huff Post link that will give you the story without giving his vile website more hits. (Apparently Return of Kings made a lot of money on this; it brought their server down yesterday and they are crowing about it.)

Re/ nurses, let me just add that as someone who has had several surgeries and hospital stays, I am much more concerned about the quality of the nursing than almost anything else. As anyone who has been seriously sick, nurses are the ones who make the biggest difference in recovering or dying. Seriously, last time I was operated on, all I kept bellowing was, “I want a nurse! Nurse? Are you an RN? I want to see the nurse!”

All but two of the nurses who’ve looked after me over the years have been wonderful. Of the exceptions one was a frank, open and nauseating racist. She was really, really nasty to an Aboriginal woman who was in the bed opposite me. We both filed complaints against her. The nurse was very unpleasant to the patient’s Sri Lankan husband as well, and would go ballistic when their children were on the ward.

The other was very able, had decades of experience and really knew her stuff but she was both very cold and a bully. Especially if you were unable to immediately obey her.

All the others were wonderful though.

thanks La Strega this is much better.

Now I don’t want to imply that I think people with eating disorders shouldn’t date or cant function or anything but I think if you seriously consider a mental illness so directly tired to self esteem/perception as a plus, well it says more about your mental state than theirs, but I doubt he or his audience will pick up on that.

Even for Return of Kings, this is pretty obnoxious clickbait. Seems like they’re always looking to identify and target groups of women that (in their minds) are too naive or damaged or emotionally fragile to see through their bullshit and call them on it.

Let me guess, Roosh’s server is actually a 1997 Dell PC with a whopping 233 Mhz Pentium chip, running “Microsoft Home Server”.

Either that or two gerbils in a tuna can.

It says nothing about his mental state in the sense of mental illness; it simply says that he is predatory and abusive. Being an abuser isn’t correlated to “mental state” in that way, so I’d avoid using the term.

OT: auggz, I’m sorry I didn’t respond earlier, but I just want to say that I really appreciate all of the tips for emulating Kate Bush’s appearance! I saved those comments by bookmarking their permalinks. Thanks :>

kittehserf: good point, my apologies I didn’t mean to liken being an abuser to mental illness or that one is not responsible for being an abuser. I used ‘state’ as a neutral stand in for ‘where the fuck is your mind that you think this way?” I shall try to be more careful.

auggziliary: ya it seems like it. I mean he does kinda imply with that tweet that he doesn’t know eating disorders don’t stop at Bulimia nervosa, but even if that where the case this still seems a bit out there.

Sorry you couldn’t completely fix your problem, David. I hope it doesn’t come back to haunt you. I accidentally installed the free version of McAfee today when I was updating something else. I just rushed over to my desktop and uninstalled it while I still can. Whew.

serrana – I HATE the fact that when you try to update a program (I think it’s Java?), it keeps asking you to install McAfee.

Actually, I hate it when programs try to get you to install programs other than the one I want in general. Seriously, who thought that was a freaking good idea?

RE Roosh: Damn it, I’m trying to stop randomly shaking. >:(

Bloody awful Adobe always wants to install McAfee, too.

I hate it when they want to install toolbars, or a default web browser. No, I do NOT want Ask.com or whoever as my default, piss off.

Alice, I know! This was Quicktime, but I remember Java doing it too, and Winamp wants to set your homepage to AOL or some shit. I usually catch it but you can’t always.

Things won’t be right until updates ask if you want to set The Feminist Borg as your homepage.

David, I wonder if there is a McAfee service running on your system. If you disable it, maybe you can delete the rest of the files.

If you’re part of the Borg, do you even need a homepage?

serena + kittehs – EXACTLY. Fuck off, stupid other programs. I don’t WANT your services, if I wanted it in the first place, I’d have done it a long freaking time ago. GAH.

To everyone, someone else mentioned this already, but I just want to endorse Avira as a really great free anti-virus program that doesn’t cause problems. McAfee sucks.
