There’s just one little catch: You have to design a logo for A Voice for Men.
But the logo contest is a real thing, as is the prize. Go here for the details.
You can see my first attempt above. Post yours below! And maybe even submit it to the official contest.
Also, read the comments over at AVFM to see Mr. Elam bring the banhammer down on a graphic designer who offers to do the logo for free. No, really.
Wait…I’ve got it…it’s a man attempting to insert an impossibly large butt plug, but he’s got it the wrong way around.
That’s their new logo? I’m so eternally confused.
Well, if this doesn’t scream “I-wanted-to-give-my-buddy-300$-from-donation-money-but-have-plausible-deniability” … OK. I might just be a cynic. :/

Lol @ whoever submitted this one to the contest
I think the winner looks like a torso wearing shoulder pads while shrugging its shoulders, as if to say, “the fuck is humanist counter-theory?”. I think it’s quite appropriate.
A Voice for Men: where even the logo can’t understand the slogan.
Heather N,
“Also, is it just me or is the image looking rather phallic….as opposed to the V and M I think it’s meant to be…”
It totally looks phallic! It’s a third leg joke. Jeez, I love how these guys continue to unintentionally reveal their issues.

As a general question, why does the comments section at AVFM hide comments with low ratings? It seems like a weird form of censorship not unlike putting your fingers in your own ears like a child.
In mostly unrelated things, Katz, pecunium, I hate you both. I have fallen down a MySQL rabbit hole of disemvowelment. (Hm, is that MSQL or is y not a vowel?)
Argenti: There exist extant tools to do it.
IT’S ALIVE!!
Disemvowelment is a go!
Yah well, I apparently just finished reinventing the wheel then. Whatever, spent five years getting told I should learn MySQL and now I have a basic understanding of it (and kinda like it).
I’m still bemused at AVfM’s staff of volunteers putting in 16-20 hour days.
It’s bullshit. I’ve put in one so far on this and I’m coding a WP theme from scratch and with all sorts of cool tricks. And even that was only because I was all insomniac so might as well keep coding.
It also makes one wonder what the fruit of all that “labor” is. Lets be gracious, and assume they have a “staff” of four (for a total of five, counting our boy Elam).
We’ll even give them weekends off. And count an hour for lunch in the 16.
So we get 5*5 =25 (people x days) 25*15 = 375 man hours a week.
Doing what?
Censoring comments and dox’ing people?
Eh, the hiding low-rated comments thing isn’t uncommon. Lots of sites do that. I won’t fault AVFM for that, but I will fault them for a lot of things.
When did they start calling themselves “humanists”, and how can I make them stop?
What is their “counter-theory” going counter to? Humanism? Everything that’s not humanism? Message fail (which goes nicely with their logic fail and empathy fail and humanism fail and not being assholes fail and…)
It’s a mess. Which is par for the course. I suspect it’s because they don’t have enough volunteers, and so the ones they do have have to work 20 hour days.
Which decreases mental acuity.
“Counter-theory” is such a pretentious term. I mean, maybe I’m a hypocrite here since I can be pretentious sometimes, but I just cringe when I hear that.
Aww, did they really pick a logo already? I wanted to follow their “An image or shape that is easily recognizable is used to represent your business” logo type suggestion and submit a penis.
Yeah, it’s a typo – it’s counter-humanist theory.
Wow, when I look at their newly chosen logo I picture a person in the stirrups at the gynecologist’s office. I doubt that’s what they were going for…
Speaking of volunteers, we’re waiting for the domain registration to do its thing, and then I get to set it all up for realz. And then about a dozen of you will be getting email ^.^
Yay! =D
