Ladies! What are your favorite Unchecked Feeemale Privileges?

feeemaleprivilege

So a fella on the Men’s Rights subreddit made this poster, which he’s planning to post in the vicinity of the Women’s Studies Department at his school, assuming he can find it.

Since I know that a lot of females read this blog, I thought I’d ask you all just which of these Unchecked Female Privileges (There’s Nothing “Benevolent” About Them) are your favorites. You can pick more than one! (I know how inherently greedy you feemales are.)

Has he missed any important ones?

Non-women are allowed to post in this thread as well, but only if they preface their comments with “If it may please the feemales, might I humbly suggest that … .”

ostara – so true. Anything a woman says is dismissed as “feelings” or “on your period” or “lol u mad” or similar bullshit. Anything a dude says, however emotional, or rage-filled for that matter, is logical and rational and right by virtue of penis. They’re so insistent on emotion or feelings being labelled female, and being incompatible with reason, rationality, logic, etc, which are labelled male, that they ignore the little points emotions are part of being human (one might say part of being a great many species, actually) and that one cannot make decisions or function without them. They’re right into the idea of anger being the only acceptable emotion in men, and totally refuse to recognise how perverted that is, and how bad for everyone – the men it warps, and the women (and other men) who suffer the consequences.

MRAs, fuck off forever.

Good: When boardrooms start using standardized measures of productivity to determine membership, then maybe you can make a claim like that. Right now? They don’t. Sure, there’s some standards, but there’s a surplus of people who meet them, at which point it boils back down to the old boy’s network.

I suppose Goodfornothing would like a return to the nineteenth century, when women fought tooth and nail just to get higher education, while too many men were all “penis = brain, ladyparts = brain that fries if educated”. Boardrooms are still overwhelmingly the dick club now, but of course that’s just the natural order as far as gobshites like him are concerned.

@”Good”

And feminism’s desire to dismantle gender division in the workplace is based almost entirely on the gender wage gap and none on workplace safety.

You’ve got us there. Feminists have never talked about letting women serve in the military/on the front lines, or about women gaining access to traditionally male jobs like mining and construction or police work or firefighting. As always, all we really care about is money!

Also, can you please explain why you think “workplace safety”, as vaguely as you’ve definied it, should be a feminist issue?

@Ostara *applause*

@thread I’m not sure I even buy “[women are] less likely to abuse drugs”. I thought there was a strong correlation between alcohol/drug use and oppressed status, by way of self-medicating the depression/anxiety/PTSD/you-name-it that comes from a lifetime of oppression and its economic and social effects.

Damnit, blockquotes monster!

So, just pretend I included a /blockquote after the first paragraph. That one is Good, and the rest is me.

Also, pretend I said “amen and thank you!” to mildlymagnificent.

RE Missouri: fuck you rape culture.

RE workplace safety: fuck you MRAs.

I have to admit, it is very unfair that only women get to enjoy “The Sisterhood”

I mean, did feminists ever consider that as I man, I too might enjoy traveling pants?

The pants can only travel between us Sisters, unfortunately, as we keep a list of hypergamy tips’n’tricks in the back pocket and it wouldn’t do for some man to read it and give the game away.

Viscaria, How could you give that away? Next you’ll tell them that we keep our spermjacking tips in the flour jar!

Fear not – no MRA is going to be able to deal with the trousers if they’re like these.

Emilygoddess — it’s early, I’m running late, but this PDF jives with what I learned — at least officially, men are more likely to abuse drugs and alcohol. I can do more digging later though. I just heard the hair dryer click off and need to run!

“Less enforcement of heterosexuality”

Yeah, if you’re a smoking hot “barsexual” or a straight woman performing in “lesbian porn” created for the male gaze and not the female one, it’ll be “approved of” only in how it benefits the men watching. The second you insist that you’re actually into women, you’ll be told (tw:rape) they’re going to rape you straight. That all you need is a good deep dicking. And if you’re not conventionally attractive, you’re going to be mocked because nobody wants to see it. No idea where they got this idea from.

Also

expected to choose easier career (not considered capable of difficult careers, you mean)

More like careers are considered easier simply because women do them, but they are mostly all very hard, sometimes back breaking.

shorter/easier criminal convictions

Ignores that women are more likely to cooperate and take plea bargains which contributes to this. Also, if you were to average in all the men who see no jail time for raping women, you’ll skew the results a lot more.

The irony. I could make a similar statement about the boardroom.

Yes, because getting a shot at a high powered, corporate position is exactly the same as a classroom where everyone is given equal opportunity to absorb the same knowledge and nobody is getting systemically locked out of class just for being a certain sex. Boys aren’t being given worse grades for giving the same answers as girls.

Quite anecdotal don’t you think? And feminism’s desire to dismantle gender division in the workplace is based almost entirely on the gender wage gap and none on workplace safety.

Because women wanting wages to be raised to the level of men and MRA’s wanting women to die as often as men are the same thing. Do you not see how seeking to raise a side up to meet the other is much better and more progressive than seeking to lower the other to worse conditions?

I find it interesting that the list starts with ‘true-ish’ but lacking details statements (Like the conviction rates mentioned by Lionicle) to straight up falsehoods, like ‘less likely to live in poverty’ (all the single mothers put your hands up) to a straight up devolution into crazy, and conspiracy like ‘the sisterhood’ and ‘feminism’. also Hypergamy? cuz males can’t and never have married above their class?

also Women’s studies department? and women’s shelters? ya, I’ll bet this mofo also bitched about there being no ‘white history month’

and as for reproductive rights………..you’re shiting us right? Are we looking at the same the United States?

Yeah, I’m pretty sure the “less likely to have mental illness” one is either false in that it’s only that men are generally diagnosed more or just flat out not true. I could have sworn I read a few years back about a study showing women a lot more likely to be prescribed medications for depression or anxiety. But even if men are diagnosed at higher rates, it doesn’t necessarily mean that they suffer from mental illness at higher rates, just more likely that their symptoms are taken more seriously.

Which, when you live in a world where the default is to be presumed you’re overly emotional about everything to begin with because you’re a woman, then yeah, you would be less likely to be diagnosed with a mental illness.

also “not being considered privileged” is a privilege……………………I think my brain broke from the stupid

Dvärghundspossen

Regarding mental illness, I just checked some statistics (Swedish, but I reckon they might generalize to other western countries). More men than women feel that mental illness is shameful. Fewer men than women have someone to talk to about mental problems. It is more common among women than men to be on sick leave due to mental illness. If we add up these facts, one might suspect that men are more prone to just grind their teeth together rather than seek help if they suffer from mental illness, and that could be explained by a destructive male gender role.

So yeah, on THIS point there might actually be a tiny nugget of truth in the mountain of stupidity. But as they say, even a blind chicken…

Dvärghundspossen

Hm, I just checked again and they didn’t say that women are more likely to get help for mental illness (which might be true) but that they are less likely to suffer from it in the first place. Citation needed then?

… I have never heard this one before. What do they say about a blind chicken? I am really curious.

YES, this. Also, the rest of the medical establishment often doesn’t diagnose women correctly: a man and woman go to the ER with the same chest pain. The man is rushed to an EKG to check for a heart attack, while the woman is sent home with antacids. Cis women with any kind of abdominal pain will be administered a pregnancy test (I have gotten them for shortness of breath and dizziness, too), regardless of her stated likelihood of pregnancy, and often before any other tests. tl;dr I have no reason to think the mental health world is any better.

Even a blind chicken can find a kernel of corn now and then.

And I think it is very probable that men are more reluctant to seek professional help for mental illness, and hence higher rate of undiagnosed mental illness, because that is considered unmanly. Instead man men will attempt to “self-help” with boooze or other drugs, because that is more inline with the norms of masculinity.
