Here — above and below — are a couple of amazing works of Men’s Rightsy propaganda I missed in my survey of deviantART yesterday, both from a fellow calling himself alexlartwork22. And, yes, they both seem to be meant completely seriously.
Thanks, Tulgey Logger and Cloudiah for finding these! Is anyone else reminded of Chick Tracts here? The crude drawing, the melodrama, the excessive word balloons?
My post yesterday inspired (or at least provided the excuse for) rather a lot of comments, many of them rebutting a Men’s Rightsy fellow calling himself Good. Below, a graphic from Katz memorializing one of Good’s more, er, memorable pronouncements.
Humourous anecdote: one time a man an I were approaching a glass door from opposite directions and I got their first. The look on his face when, instead of waiting meekly for him to hold the door open for me, I held the door open for HIM is something I will carry with me to my dying day; you could see the internal existential crisis this action caused him as if it were scrawled on him with a sharpie.
If we’re really going to obsess over the word modern, you’re early by 20-30 years: Third Wave feminism wasn’t really “born” until the late 80’s or early 90’s. So… uh… read a book? I recommend Ulysses.
Emmy – LOL! I get that sort of reaction too, sometimes, though only from older guys. Younger ones might say “No, after you,” but they won’t make a fuss about it.
I see good is back. *sigh*
so, how are the rest of you? Not that I mind people poking him, poke away, but I have a too short attention span atm to respond to him. He’s so…boring.
Well get it off Spot! Boats are heavy and cats (I’m assuming cat – it is a cat’s name after all) are not strong enough to carry them!
Shaenon, You didn’t think Alex L.’s explanatory note made it perfectly clear?
Good, why did you like that one, and not this one:

(Note to Argenti: Weird zombie fishes are involved.)
Once again, Alex L explains:
sweet! how’s it working so far? Also, does it look awesome* 😀
*mobility aides are much funner if they look awesome.
Okay, I”m going to critique that ridiculous comic good linked to…
a) patriarchy wasn’t men building things. like… I don’t know how you even got that. Women work under the patriarchy, too, our accomplishments are just shat on or passed off as someone else’s. So for the guy saying “I spent years building this ship…” NO!
b) Feminism isn’t about women running men’s lives. It’s about equality. So if you think that’s bashing feminists you are mistaken. I mean, it is, but the artist obviously has no idea what feminism is.
c) if you think that is “on spot”, i don’t even know what to do because you are obviously so willfully ignorant. AND WILLFULLY IGNORANT IS NOT AN INSULT. It is a description of how your actions/ opinions seem based on how you presented yourself. Are you like… thinking people have to coddle your ego and say that everything you think is right for it to not count as insulting?
/still not caught up, but I’m posting this now.
@cloudiah
now that one’s just…baffling. I’m saying a lot today, but…. O_o Ignoring the ginormous sexism at play, is being attracted to “unnatural” beauty really a character flaw, so long as you don’t expect everyone who’s doing it to be doing it for your pants feelings?
Very impressed by you all!
<3
@Cloudiah
That comic is so strange my mind is baffled.
I also like how he had to explain that the fish were an analogy for men. Yeah, dude. We couldn’t get it from your incredible subtlety.
Good, since Pecunium was kind enough to link you to yesterday’s discussion, I’m sure you’ll be responding to our critiques of your position, because failing to do so would be rank intellectual cowardice.
And we will remind you about it every time you visit, because we have long memories.
@fade
remember, if you dye your hair/get breast implants/ wear make up (whatever qualifies as unnatural beauty idk) you will catch zombie men.
You may think you won’t. But you will. catch. zombie men.
/sugar rush.
Ohai, Marie. I’m good thanks, I’m building a rocket to take me to the stars! (In Kerbal Space Program) It’s looking good so far. :3
How’re you?
Tch! Typical woman! WIth your words… and ability to recall past events…
There’s another of Alex L.’s comics that attacks Chinese restaurants and Korean-owned beauty supply stores for selling greasy food and unnecessary products (respectively) but I didn’t link to it because it is fairly racist. He is just kind of incoherent.
No wonder Good likes him.
Yay space program! 😀 So is that like a school? I’m sorry, I’m kinda un-educated about these sort of things.
Today I’ve just been chilling, dreading taking the remainder of the GED. 😛 cuz then I’ll have to beg for work. *pitiful whining noises*
@cloudiah
Oh joy :/ Can’t bigots ever stick to hating one group of people, or do they always have to overlap like this?
Totally OT but this is pretty much the best place in the world: http://updates.kotaku.com/post/62237719492/japan-has-not-one-but-two-places-that-are
I NEED TO GO THERE
@Fade:
The cane’s not as pretty as my other one (sob) but it is a cool pewter colour. The chemist where I bought it only had that or black, which burns me a bit ‘cos that brand is made in quite a few colours. It’s a Canadian brand called … Hugo. Yeah, I went “argh” at having a cane with that name written on it! 😀
This is a good pic of it, though mine has extra joins where it folds up:

I’ve only used it for a few minutes so far, but it seems as good as my pretty floral one. Plus it has a padded handle. It isn’t any more comfortable than the other one (which is comfortable) but at least it won’t chip every time I drop the darn thing on concrete!
GoodyGumDrops and his much-admired Alex wotsit are definitely in the “a woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle” category.
Hmm … with all that twaddle about unnatural bait (or “unatural”, whatever that may be), I wonder if Alex has ever heard of fly-fishing?
I begin to think it is once again after Good’s bedtime.
Ally, save me a seat on the plane!!!
It’s a terribly serious and true-to-reality physics simulator, in which you can create functional rockets and test their space-worthiness…… it’s also a very silly game which involves little yellow-green men with crew cuts who may well be descended from plants. It’s all very grown up. Well… bits of it are. 😛
Good luck with the GED and the work-getting thing. I’m currently trying to make money by tricking people into thinking I can write well… still have to get something written, and available for people to buy, but I seem to have the tricking people into thinking I can write well bit down, so now it’s just the writing something and making money bits to work on.
@Athywren
That sounds fun, in theory 😛 I bet it involves math though. Does it?
also, ::offers aspiring author high five:: assuming that’s what your last paragraph was about. (hey authors and writing go together in theory this makes sense in my head…)
@Kittehserf
aw on it not being as pretty as your old one. 🙁 It still does look simple and nice, though.
And re: padded handles: My current canes (unpadded) handle is so chipped up it looks like I used it to fight off a robot or something.
//that analogy made more sense in my head.
Brave Sir LesserGood ran away again?
