Here — above and below — are a couple of amazing works of Men’s Rightsy propaganda I missed in my survey of deviantART yesterday, both from a fellow calling himself alexlartwork22. And, yes, they both seem to be meant completely seriously.
Thanks, Tulgey Logger and Cloudiah for finding these! Is anyone else reminded of Chick Tracts here? The crude drawing, the melodrama, the excessive word balloons?
My post yesterday inspired (or at least provided the excuse for) rather a lot of comments, many of them rebutting a Men’s Rightsy fellow calling himself Good. Below, a graphic from Katz memorializing one of Good’s more, er, memorable pronouncements.
If there’s something MRAs have in common (regardless of race) it is dislike of black women. Why is that?
The stereotypical black woman is loud, opinionated, and offended by anything you say, no matter what you meant, or who you were talking to. It’s really easy to dislike that if you believe that women should be silent and obedient.
OT: Finally getting around to watching The Hobbit. This story is so bittersweet to me. I loved the cartoon version when I was a kid, but as a young geek who adored fantasy and science fiction, it was one of many stories that made me sad because there are absolutely no girls in it. None whatsoever. I see Jackson actually added Galadriel — she isn’t in the book.
Blah blah blah, that was just the time, yadda yadda yadda. Don’t care. Still sucks.
Also, the jezebel stereotype — which, to these idiots, likely means slutty (I mean, it pretty much does in the first place)
Okay, not going to defend dA as not a cesspit because it is (I have a dA account and I still think that) however this comment is one of my pet peeves. The definition of art does not include any measure of quality. The stick figures my (almost) 4yo nephew draws are just as much art as the illustrations I create even though I’ve been honing my skills for years and get paid for it. It’s not good art but it’s still art because it’s an expression of human creativity.
This is true. There is no feminist history before then. Back before 1963, there were no feminists thoughts. There were no beginnings of the movement. The earth was pure.
You don’t understand the word “modern”? MODERN feminism. Key on the word “MODERN”. Focus. Focus. Focus.
We got that. Problem is, you didn’t say “modern” in the first place. You added it later, once your ignorance of history was pointed out.
Good: Modern feminism was born in 1963 you dolt. Read a book.
What’s with the insults, out of pop-psych and HuffPo to pretend support you?
Good:
Aw, Good, are you so intellectually deficient (or perhaps morally bankrupt) that you go about insulting people, and accusing them of ignoring you and it all slips your mind: you can’t follow up on it in the morning? This is the rigor, and drive, which made it possible for men to invent everything?
This the fruit of 3 million years of hominid evlution?
Or were <a href =http://manboobz.com/2013/09/24/pregnancy-is-no-excuse-for-misandry-and-other-pithy-baffling-slogans-from-the-mens-rights-propaganda-squad/comment-page-7/#comment-355279 these more than your not so good ability to argue could pretend to deal with?
Aw, Good, are you so intellectually deficient (or perhaps morally bankrupt) that you go about insulting people, and accusing them of ignoring you and it all slips your mind: you can’t follow up on it in the morning?
Amazing. I get insulted hundreds of times, and when I FINALLY respond in kind, you complain. Comical. And when have I accused anyone of ignoring me? Stop making things up. Is that an attempt at a link?
@Doubleplusungood
The problem here is that the second-wave of feminism has passed, and 1963 was the start of second-wave feminism only. Third-wave feminism is modern feminism.
Men’s rights go back forever, eh?
What about Mammoths’ Rights, then?
WE TRAMPLED THE CRO-MAGNONS FOR YOU
GoodGodHe’sStupid hasn’t come up with anything worth responding to, I see. Quelle surprise.
Hey, Fade, you about? I bought a folding walking stick this morning, so I don’t have to juggle a full-length umbrella and a full-length stick on the train.
Carp, I managed to fail the link to this set of comments about the idiocy you were spewing in the other thread.
Maybe it was a typo and he meant 1792. Yanno, A Vindication of the Rights of Women? Cuz I remember 1963 very well and if I were a betting person I would bet that Good does not.
This one is on spot:

No, no, he means modern feminism, which is defined as “feminism that postdates anything that he wants to claim is good.”
No, just no.
The insults were pretty justified. Don’t like being treated like a complete dumbass? Don’t act like a complete dumbass.
You should take your own advice idiot.
Good, you are just embarrassing yourself here.
Good, you ignorant twit: Amazing. I get insulted hundreds of times, and when I FINALLY respond in kind, you complain.
Liar.
One, you wax hyperbolic. In someone less prone to fits of dramatugy I’d let it pass, but hundred of times seems unlikely.
Two: It’s far from the first time (which is implicit in the use of the word, “finally”): and given the resort in the thread you abandoned (a comment with no content but to call the target of your ire stupid) you can’t claim even that this is the first overt case of insult you’ve made.
Three, you wax bathetic about how pure you are (unlike the nasty mouthed harridans of feminism), refraining from the allure of abusive language, esp; that which has no relation to the argument.
So you made the bed, that it’s wet and nasty from you pissing in it ain’t my fault. That I point out that you made such an infantile mess isn’t blameworthy. Pretending you’ve not been engaged in baseless insult, refusal to engage with honest argument and not much more than left-handed instances of ad hominem is just sad.
We deserve better examples of misogyny than you have been providing. Have some pride man, stick to the program, don’t let your injured feelings get the best of you; keep the pretense of “rational manly thinking”.
It will make it easier to tell the other dudebros you won.
The italic monster never leaves pecunium alone. :<
Good: When have you accused people of ignoring you?
That was sept. 24 (you remember, yesterday; before you went to bed). If 90 percent of the response to your “actual citations and stuff”, given, “all the time” are personal insults… then people are ignoring you.
And you are complaining about it.
As to this wonder:
I need to make dinner. It’s making my already less than perfect typing more vulnerable to the various monsters.
The article Good linked to seems to be an anomaly; most studies indicate that “marrying up” has been on a steady decline since the rise of modern feminism. It’s just common sense; as women have more opportunities, of course they’re going to be closer in income and education to their partners. Via the New York Times (which seems to be nostalgic for the good old days when marriage was the only way a woman could escape poverty, but that’s a New York Times style article for you):
Today, across the member countries of the O.E.C.D., 40 percent of couples in which both partners work belong to the same or a neighboring earnings bracket, compared with 33 percent two decades ago, a 2011 report by the agency shows. Nearly two-thirds of couples have the same level of educational attainment (in 15 percent of the cases, the wife is more educated than her husband).

Good, I have to confess that cartoon completely baffles me. What does the ship represent?
