Here — above and below — are a couple of amazing works of Men’s Rightsy propaganda I missed in my survey of deviantART yesterday, both from a fellow calling himself alexlartwork22. And, yes, they both seem to be meant completely seriously.
Thanks, Tulgey Logger and Cloudiah for finding these! Is anyone else reminded of Chick Tracts here? The crude drawing, the melodrama, the excessive word balloons?
My post yesterday inspired (or at least provided the excuse for) rather a lot of comments, many of them rebutting a Men’s Rightsy fellow calling himself Good. Below, a graphic from Katz memorializing one of Good’s more, er, memorable pronouncements.
But I don’t want to! First because, as you said, looks silly. I don’t do hats in general, never mind big floppy ones. And secondly because I like the feeling of sun beating down on me.
I suppose I could just commit to getting my hair colored more often.
@pecunium, @hellkell: Now is the time when he’ll claim to have lived in Massachusetts, I think it was, for a while, about ten years ago.
@cloudiah
I wear a big floppy hat to protect my delicate eyes/head from headaches 😛 It helps me a lot, but I can’t find many good looking hats. The only one I have I kinda took from Fade, she let me keep it cuz I used it so much more than her.
@falconer
As a teen who can only draw one thing, I object to the comparison 😛
@cassandrasays
That would work. 😛
Hair related, do you know any nice, cheap brands of permanent hair dye? I use semi-permanent and am getting tired of how the color fades so quick, it’s only the color I want for a week or two. I mostly use it cuz I can get it for 10$ at the CVS across the street.
I haven’t dyed my hair myself since college, sorry.
My landlord was not happy about the state it left the bathroom in either. Purple hair dye stains.
If you don’t want to wear floppy hats, how will you ever look like a pirate?
Sorry.
I’d be happier if baked tweens with giant breasts wasn’t the only thing she painted. If her artings are bringing her mad bank, more power to her, I guess, but Van Gogh didn’t get rich just painting sunflowers.
… Okay, bad example.
@cassandrasays
Huh. I guess I just got confused between the hair colored/ color fading/ dying difference. In fact, I’m still confused XD
But the baked teens are powerful, Falconer. Didn’t you read the marketing spiel?
@auggz
You can read about that case and the utter injustice of it here.
One month. That’s how much the guy served. ONE FUCKING MONTH.
BTW, I tried to read that massive thing Good dropped.
It’s full of classics like this:
And then ‘equality of opportunity doesn’t mean equality of outcome!’
Such gems of wisdom. Truly, I have been told.
A bit off the specific topic, but I just wanted to ask if anyone else saw that A Voice for Men has posted an audio recording of an anti-MRM meeting at the Unviersity of Toronto on Tuesday (“What’s Wrong with the MRA? The Problem of Men’s Rights”). The organizers explicitly asked that the meeting not be recorded. Also, a Voice for Men calls it a “secret” feminist meeting on there Web site and that has led to me scratching my head as to what it so “secret” about a meeting whose time and location was announced publicly in advance.
Lies.
I mean *their* Web site,
@cassandrasays
That’s what happened to my bathroom too 😛 even when I was trying to be careful, hairdye everywhere!
@falconer
Actually, at first I was still in ‘defend less experienced artists’ mode from earlier, but since she’s a professional and actually getting paid, I’m not so sure I take offense. 😛 Except for the teen comparison XD
Um that was kinda rambly so maybe I had a point somewhere.
And the same old quote by Dworkin. This is even more tiresome and wrong than reading Good’s comments… I think I’m going to go lie down.
They’re also vulnerable. I dunno how that works, but hey, it means they need me to protect them, right? So it’s all coo BAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRFFF
@Marie: Sorry again. I should have said “someone” instead of “a teen.”
Howard Bannister linked above, thanks for that. But yeah, a grown man rapes a 14 year old student, she eventually commits suicide, and the judge in his case sentences him to ONE MONTH, and made seriously reprehensible rape apologist statements about how she was an equal participant who is older than her chronological age. The judge should be removed from the bench IMMEDIATELY. This rapist should be spending his life in prison.
But there is no such thing as rape culture.
@Howard, @Chie — Oh, that’s the case where the judge was all, “She totally wanted it, yo,” and gave the guy the weakest of slaps on the wrist.
I’ma go hug my babies. (You can see them by clicking the link in my username.)
As has been said twenty million FUCKING times on this website, NO ONE IS STOPPING YOU FROM STARTING YOUR OWN DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS PROGRAM.
But, we all know you aren’t truly activists of any kind. You are abusers, stalkers, sexual-harassers, and rape-apologists.
@falconer
You don’t need to apologize. I”m just super rambly today.
@chie satonaka
ugh. arblegarble. Can’t find words.
Apparently the allure of her vulnerable yet powerful femininity was able to break the space/time continuum.
(I hate this shit so much, mostly because I remember being a tween and having it used by adult men to justify perving on me.)
@falconer
Gah. agh. What the fuck? May he step on all the fucking legos.
@Marie, yeah, Howard and Chie have linked to actual reports, but the judge made statements that boiled down to “she consented.”
