Red Pill Dudes: Marriage is worse than rape, but the feminist attack on marriage is even worser

Barley: The ultimate feminist weapon?
Barley: The ultimate feminist weapon?

So the uber-manly woman-hating woman-chasing alpha dogs over in the Red Pill subreddit are discussing the declining marriage rate. Which is a GOOD thing. Because marriage is for BETAs and FRUMPY WOMEN! It’s worse than RAPE!

Marriage is RAPE - so if marriage goes down, then it's a good thing. permalink source give gold save hide child comments [–]Max___Power 49 points 1 day ago (64|15) No, it's worse. Marriage is institutionally promoted to men as a positive. If I ever took a contract to my lawyer where the other party could opt out at any time AND take 50% of MY shit with them, he'd chase me out of his office and yell at me to find a hobby. Yet men willingly purchase $30,000 flawed rocks for the privilege of asking a frumpy woman to sign such a contract. LO freaking L, I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Huh. If any of these Red Pill dudes were to get married I’m pretty sure it would be be a completely, you know, consensual act on their part. Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t rape a, you know, nonconsensual thing? (Reading the Red Pill subreddit, it’s sometimes hard to remember.)

At this point a fellow calling himself TheZimmerMan throws in his two cents on the subject. Like his fellow Red Pill alpha dudes, he’s no fan of marriage. But then he  remembers that feminists are supposedly plotting to take down western civilization by destroying marriage.  And feminists are bad, right? And so his brain sort of explodes, producing this wondrous bit of red pill word salad, sprinkled liberally with racism as well as misogyny:

TheZimmerMan 11 points 22 hours ago (21|10) Society pressures men and women are fed that they need it since they are old enough to Disney. It is good that men are not allowing themselves to be victimized in this fashion, but remember that the dissolvation of the nuclear family was a feminist goal from day one. They want every one to be forced into a martiarchical structure by removing the father figure just like socially engineered anti-intellectualism and thug culture has influenced black families nationwide. They want everyone to be on welfare barley subsiding as the actual working men shoulder the burden by paying lifetime alimony, crippling child support, excessive taxes for entitlements, and other state enforced wealth transfers while being denied traditional provider respect and benefits. This is a mere segment of their war against everything it means to be a man as they seek social enslavement, state enforced burdens, and general malice towards our kind. Thank God for red pill wisdom of female biological imperatives and alphaism allowing men to still retain personal control over our lives, it is the only thing confronting this madness of the ultimate shit test against the human race.

Wow.  Just wow.

I’ve never seen “Disney” used as a verb before.

Also, I’m not exactly sure what “they want everyone to be on welfare barley subsiding” means. Unless the government has started up some sort of barley redistribution system I can only assume he meant “barely subsisting.”

I also like the complaint about how the “actual working man” pays for all these evil welfare moms while “being denied traditional provider respect and benefits.”

In misogynist-speak, that’s code for “how come we have to pay money for welfare when we don’t even get to fuck the welfare moms and boss them around?”

Red Pill dudes: please continue your marriage strike. Also consider: A vow of silence? Moving to a desert island? Living the rest of your life in a hole in the ground?

(Thanks to Gemma_Lou in the Blue Pill subreddit for pointing me to this wondrous Red Pill discussion.)

Fibinachi, first of all Happy Birthday!

Second, your comment was awesome, I just want to add a little thing concerning this paragraph:

I’m not sure Randy Pitchford, who always seemed like a genial, friendly man in the videos and press releases, would particularly relish this image of him being shot with a gold plated gun.

The Anthony Burch mentioned in the fanfic is the headwriter of the second Borderlands, but he was and still also has a sort of comedy show on Youtube with his sister, where they cover gaming issues in a completely exaggerated fashion.
In one of the episodes he was taking his sister on a tour through the Gearbox studios and she decided that she needs to punish whoever was responsible for the ending of the first Borderlands.
Well, by walks Randy Pitchford (the actual real person) and she runs up to him screaming “The ending of Borderlands sucked!” and punches him in the nuts, then turns to the camera and goes “This is for you, internet”.
And well, Anthony Burch is still working at Gearbox over a year after they filmed that skit, so…

TL;DR: Randy Pitchford might actually see the whole scenario from that fanfic, including being shot with one of the weird-ass weapons from one of his games as being hilarious

@argentiaertheri – yes, I have heard of racism. However, I don’t think the sentencing discrepancy is comparable. The argument in sentencing disparity between ethnicities was that people of color were receiving unfairly long sentences. I don’t believe MRAs are concerned about the length of sentences for men – they just want women to be punished with equal severity.

I agree that sentencing should be equal between men and women, I just think it’s a very weird issue to have at the top of an agenda. Shorter life spans, poorer school performance, higher rates of suicide, paternity leave — these are issues that would make A LOT of men’s lives BETTER, rather than a very few number of women’s lives worse.

To me, it indicates feeling that women are insufficiently punished for their crimes against men, rather than actually wanting men’s lives to get better.

Happy birthday grumpycatisagirl! I hope you’ve had a good time and will continue to have a good time. May this next year of yours be even better than the one you’ve just had and the following even more so. Hurrah for the future.

I just realized turning 22 makes me as old as Athelone Ginnis, from earlier.
Heheheheh.

Also, thanks everyone. I appreciate the sentiment a lot. I know it’s just a short sentence and stuff, but thanks for the taking the time to type it out.

Happy birthday grumpycatisagirl!

YoullNeverGuess — oh they talk about boys’ school performance and male suicide rates and the rest of your list. They just blame women for it all.

Like, Joe accused me of victim blaming for wishing there were better services for suicidal men (have you encounter The First Joe yet? He’s a very annoying nuisance)

Happy birthday Fibinachi and grumpycatisagirl! 🙂

The MRA’s want it to sound like it’s all about rights for men, but it’s more like no rights (and plenty of punishment) for women.

@freemage

There WAS the issue that there were no female marines in the game until fans petitioned the developers to include them. Article on The Mary Sue.

RE: titianblue

What an interesting article! And surprisingly readable.

RE: Chie Satonaka

When I watch these comic book and action movies, I’m the one who sits in the audience and feels bad for all the innocent bystanders who are getting their cars wrecked and likely getting injured or killed

This is actually an ongoing theme in one of the comics I read–to the point that furious citizens actually BLEW UP some superheroes because they were sick of being treated as cannon fodder. Mooks are common characters for arcs, and after a beat-down will mention things like, “Ow, I’m so glad we get dental on this job…” The climax arc of one volume has the main character actually trying to save the mook guarding her from a stroke. (He unties her, she rushes him to the hospital, and then sits with his wife and daughter while they wait to hear from the doctors.)

ignotussomnium: Yeah, but at least that was a case where the company listened and corrected course. Sure, it’d be better if they thought it through from the start, but I’ll take, “Hey, that’s actually true. We should do better,” as an outcome with relief, these days.

And happy B-day to grumpycatisagirl and LBT! May you both have many more, and hope you spend them around here!

At some risk to my own sanity, I’m going to ask for a point-of-reference: what was the exact problem with Colonial Marines? I am not more than a dabbler in computer games, so I don’t know what the context is for the kill-shot.

The lies.

http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2013/02/13 – the comic covers it all well.

Although in all due fairness, it’s not a warcrime, it’s just a bad game. Not, as such, a big deal. Although I can appreciate the joking sentiment of the writing.

RE: Freemage

It’s okay; I’ll totally steal unbirthday wishes any day.

Also, I can’t help but wonder what these guys think of same-sex marriage. Does that make it better or worse? Are guys like me and my husband breaking free of the vaginal shackles, or merely ruining it for everyone?

I don’t know. I suspect I shall have to find out by giving him a backrub.

Happy birthday grumpycatisagirl!!

@Cassandra

The idea that bigotry is the same thing as an inbuilt lack of empathy is really sketchy because, even if you ignore the implications about some non-neurotypical people, you’re still left unable to explain things like fascism, where entire societies display no compassion or empathy towards a particular targeted group. Societies can be very effective at teaching people that they aren’t supposed to feel empathy for people who’re outside their in-group.

Yep, exactly. Also, bigots rarely seem to have trouble empathizing with their fellow bigots/in-group. I think sometimes empathy gets conflated with empathizing with victims or the oppressed, and so when dickheads can’t/don’t empathize with the victims they’re tagged as lacking empathy, when they’re really just dickheads.
