Apparently, to a lot of the regulars in the Men’s Rights subreddit — like the hundreds who upvoted a post of this picture — the notion that men should raise their sons to respect women as equals is nothing more than foul propaganda and MISANDRY of the highest order.
And seriously, those guys in the poster look like total White Knight Beta Manginas.
Some of the Men’s Rightsers were especially offended by the white ribbon at the bottom of the poster, which they saw as a vaguely sinister reminder of a World War I campaign to shame British men into enlisting in the army. Because suggesting to your sons that boys and girls should be treated equally is the same as being guilt-tripped into becoming cannon fodder:
Others used the poster as an opportunity to rail against … marriage. The top comment in the thread, as I write this post, is this one.
Elezeid expanded on this theme:
Caspian_Drifter responded to the eeeevil poster with a rhetorical question that unintentionally helped to underscore the whole point of the campaign in the first place:
Seriously, ladies, why do gals like to go on and on about “equality” so much when your ladybrains weren’t even smart enough to come up with the idea in the first place? I mean, really, you ungrateful gals, you have a man/men to thank for that.
If I remember correctly, it was T. Reginald Equality who came up with the idea, with some help from his brother Ned (who suggested that he name it after himself).

“Dave,there is no way for you to be a feminist: http://postimg.org/image/7qh9k0amz/
Tell Tatiana Audi Badra you’re a feminist. You have to quit lying to the women here.”
Yes, how can he call himself a feminist when he hasn’t received the approval of Tatiana Audi Badra.
Who the bloody hell is Tatiana Audi Badra?
Yeah, parents, escpecially dads, should never evolve. They should just perpetuate the same old shit. ughh. Reddit is another unfunny joke all to itself.
@Cassandra: It’s the wrong time of the month for me to be wearing white pants, since I lack a white sand beach and a white horse on which to ride in a carefree fashion along the aforementioned white sand beach. Can I wear a white shirt, instead?
Cassandra: I don’t own white pants, but I am wearing a white t-shirt today. Misandry!
Do we know if this poster is real and not them being gullible assholes again?
@genderneutrallanguage
>>>Connecting “White ribbon” and “White Feather” isn’t a huge leap.<<<
Yeah. One is a symbol of cowardice used to shame men into going and dying in a pointless war by attacking their sense of masculinity, and the other is they symbol of a movement to end violence against women by teaching boys and men to treat women as equals and to have healthy, respectful relationships.
It's practically the same thing!
Hey, hang on a second. If I’m unable to service Teh Menz that would totes be a misnadry-tastic act on my part. I don’t *need* the white pants!
(Misan-truation?)
@hellkell:

It’s real. 🙂
Kate: that’s awesome. I’d love to see something like this in the U.S., but it would be just the MRAs yowling, conservatives would probably flip shit too.
Positive, constructive male bonding between a youth and a mentor? MISANDRY!
…Wait a minute, that makes no sense…
I’m reading through White Ribbon’s site, and I have no goddamn idea what there is to be mad about. The people who made this campaign know that the vast majority of men are fine people:
http://www.whiteribbon.ca/front-page/mens-attitudes-behaviours/
Seems like this is about CELEBRATING and ENCOURAGING that, you fucking MRM Redditor idiots.
White shirts are acceptable. Also white shoes, since they symbolize literally walking all over men with misandry.
Meanwhile, on the posters…those are just about the most bland and inoffensive posters I’ve ever seen. It takes a special kind of person to be enraged by something like that.
@ baileyrenee
Anything that suggest that men in general are not yet perfect, and might collectively do something to improve themselves so that violence against women might become less common, is automatically misandry. Because reasons.
Yeah, and it was women and girls on the poster and the message was “Inspire the girls around you. Teach them about gender equality and healthy, equal relationships” I would not, as a feminist, be anything close to outraged about it.
I missed a word. s/b “IF it was women and girls.”
Wow, this was linked from the White Ribbon site, I thought this was beautiful:

Why aren’t you writing stuff like this, MRM? Oh, right.
CassandraSays, I know right? There’s a friggin’ children’s soccer team on them!
But, but, but, grumpycatisagirl… don’t you see that’s TOTALLY MISANDRY?!?!?!?! Teaching girls about healthy, equal relationships is OBVIOUSLY feminist code for “Steal Teh Menz precious fluids and make them raise babies that aren’t theirs while you buy shoes and eat bon-bons!”
I think that’s technically a tripple redundancy. But it still isn’t enough.
RE: Cassandra Says
HEY! Just for you, I MSTed Cockrub Warriors of Mars.
Cassandra, you are correct. The people who are enraged by this are VERY special people. They see things the rest of us cannot see.
There are reasons for this.
The twitter feed for the campaign is AWESOME!

Also: This just breaks my heart: https://twitter.com/ejbrooks/status/358750656552644608
To think that this is how the MRA’s want boys to feel… it’s just so sad.
A logical person would think that the MRM would support this campaign, since they are endlessly whinging about how poorly men are portrayed in the national discourse. MRAs expect feminists and women in general to practically throw them a parade every time a man does something positive. However, I think their problem with this boils down to one simple thing. This takes the conversation away from “women are bad,” and we all know that is the only thing most MRAs are interested in talking about.
“Not supposed to cry” D:
Jesus, that hurts to read…
@Micheal
I lol’d. Feel better now.
We should probably have warned them not to eat the special mushrooms before blogging, shouldn’t we? But then we just wouldn’t be feminists.
Hey LBT, when you MST things with other people, how do you go about it? Are these people you know offline, or do you talk over IM or in a chatroom or what?
I ask because the “conversational” style is really nice and it’s what I’m going for with my snark of The Red Pill (chapter 1 is up here, btw, with a trigger warning for suicide attempts), but I’ve been having trouble finding a place/format that works well for group snarking.
