Friendzoning: The Rage Comics

Vtqy5SK.jpg

Two rage comics that capture well the true human tragedy that is FRIENDZONING, both of which I found in the awesome Blue Pill subreddit. The one above is by dont_buy_me_gold; the one below by SaltyChristian (who is, incidentally, a CERTIFIED ALPHA).

I have heard rumors that the entire Blue Pill subreddit is not actually a hangout for super alpha dudes but rather a parody of the Red Pill subreddit but I choose not to believe them, much in the same way I choose not to believe in the supposed “law” of gravity. It’s A THEORY, people!

(Note: These are both parodies, by the way, in case there is any confusion.)

I actually just did a post about friend zoning two weeks ago. Surprisingly, I’ve only gotten flak about it from one commenter… πŸ™‚

That first one is indistinguishable from the real thing.

I guess this particular Olive Garden was an MRM hub.

Olive Garden: Go for the low-quality wine and endless breadsticks, stay for the foaming mouth, tinfoil hat wearing, comradery.

In the third panel of the first comic I first read the guy as saying, “but i can give good socks to you!” by mistake, which only made it funnier.

But I can give good socks to you! I’m a knitter!

But I only give socks to men who I am very close to. By which I mean my dad. Who loves handknit socks.

I’m not American and don’t get the Olive Garden reference? And yeah, I thought the first one was genuine too.

cloudiah

Graham Olive Garden is a huge chain of casual Italian restaurants all over the US. They are known more for the large plate sizes & free breadsticks than for the quality of their food.

Alex

The first one is pretty ambiguous…lol

Argenti Aertheri

It’s an “Italian” restaurant that serves sub par food of the variety considered Italian by people who are not Italian. My brother swears the bread sticks are good though.

They make themselves out as a fancy restaurant with great prices, but it’s basically your standard family food place, a step above diners but not really fancy. Food’s decent, just not Italian, and the prices are good, so basically just pretension plus food.

So yeah, endless breadsticks, lots of other filers so you won’t actually eat that much of the “endless pasta” and wine, which is apparently not very good, though I’ve never tried it.

In other things, it’s nearly 90Β°F here. Someone teleport me some chilly weather?

BTW, I just launched a PUA/MRA character on my YouTube channel:

Early days, and possibly too close to the real thing to be funny. The next one should make it more obvious that he’s a parody.

RE: Argenti

Urgh, it’s muggier than Satan’s jockstrap today, and I STILL don’t have my room yet.

I can’t stay in my closet during daylight hours; it’s a death trap.

I’m fond of Olive Garden because, when I went my mom and my older siblings to that place, they would try to get as many Andes mints for me as they could. I don’t really care about their food, though.

cloudiah

Graham, I’m getting a “This video does not exist” message.

Also, what’s the over/under on how long it will take MRAs to start whining about this?

Aaliyah

To clarify, they did that for me when I was like 5. Just in case it sounds odd that family members are giving an 18-year-old tons of candy for no reason.

Even not knowing the Olive Garden reference, it was a great parody.

Is that the Black Fedora (aka the idiot who gives nice hats a bad name) portrayed in the strip?

RE: Aaliyah

Hey, don’t worry about it. Our ma was a pharmaceutical rep and she hoarded those yummy chocolate mints for us when we were teenagers! (She did a LOT of schmoozes with docs at Olive Garden, apparently that’s where the cool doctors go.)

Graham

I gave up reading those. But Dan’s definitely going to have to mention GirlWritesWhat in a future episode. She seems to be the main weapon MRAs have to convince outsiders that they don’t hate (all) women.

Those breadsticks are pretty awesome. I never have to put butter on them which is a plus but my stomach (which hates gluten) yells at me later.

Oh please, please have Dan cover GWW, and maybe Typhon Blue too. I will pop ALL the popcorn.

Heh. I didn’t realize the first one was supposed to be a parody until I started reading the comments. It’s right up there with some of those MRA rationalization hamster things that were both un-funny and stoopid.

Just in case it sounds odd that family members are giving an 18-year-old tons of candy for no reason.

…I see absolutely nothing wrong with this. Hell, I would have been thrilled if someone had brought me a ton of Andes mints when I was 18.

PILES AND PILES OF TRIGGER WARNINGS…

… for this latest piece of absolute crap from typhonblue here:

And I will always consider confining and dominating an appendage–thus inducing a feeling similar to amputation–worse than an object entering a hole that was designed to be entered.
I hope to get my opinions in law that way we can stop incorrectly identifying the insertion of objects into holes that were designed to accommodate them as rape.
I mean, seriously. Raping a vagina? Does a hammer also rape your hand when you grip it? Absurd! Not possible; total bullshit.

Argenti Aertheri

What. The. Actual. Fuck?! Are hammers sentient now? Do they force themselves into hands? I mean FUCK!

Kitten shirt looks a bit scratchy.

cloudiah

I’m surprised that wasn’t a more popular comment with the misters, actually — seems right up their alley.

On the kitten shirt, I agree that it needs a much thicker fabric. But with some modifications, it could be fun to wear!

Alex

My penis-owning boyfriend doesn’t share TyphonBlue’s belief that a penetrating penis feels amputated. Odd. As for the rest of that…what the hell is she on?

cloudiah

I feel like typhonblue is in this place where she has to keep making her comments more and more extreme to get attention. Or something. Oh never mind, why am I trying to understand someone so thoroughly odious?

And sorry LBT, I tried to make the trigger warning really big. πŸ™
