Impressive! Here’s the link. Maybe they’ll eventually fill this blank page with inspiring tales of harassing women, including women they’ve mistakenly targeted because MRAs, on the exceedingly rare occaisions they try to be activists, are the most inept and gullible activists the world has ever seen.
And while we’re at it, here’s the Wiki’s ethics page.
Wow! Instead of nothing, this time they have a list of nothings.
Thanks to Reddit’s veduualdha and StephenMurphy for pointing out these links in r/againstmensrights.
opheliamonarch, you’re not monopolising at all, you’re fine!
Even if you were, it’s nice to read about happy things, y’know? For their own sake and also as a “yah boo sucks” to the MRA idiots.
Terribly sorry, I know this was left behind long ago, correct me if someones said it before but didn’t the Grand Doosh say he could no longer, ahem, reach conclusion? And that was giving him the happies? So quoting him on what would happen if there was a kidlet would be redundant? Or has he changed his mind again?
*sighs with relief* π
I love reading about peoples’ happies. I wish I had a man to be happy with, but there’s time.
I agree that the rates of male on female violence is most likely much more socialization than anything else, but that’s because pretty much everything about humans (except for our drive to walk and our drive to develop/use language) appears to be much more socialization than anything else. Humans are short on instinct, long on socialization. Also, I think socialized female “violence” – by which I mean ways that individuals gain and maintain power over others – is much less likely to look like punching someone, and much more likely to look like extended harassment and verbal bullying. That is, it has less of overt violence (because that is reacted to strongly negatively within the culture) and more of covert or implied violence. This is a pattern which I also think repeats itself in other cultures where overt violence is more discouraged; the desire for power-over-others plays out in more hidden ways. This isn’t due to innate differences, though, but rather due to socialization.
opheliamonarch: Generally, the show is pretty good. Even with that episode, if I remember correctly, it was solved by the other women in the show convincing the girls that equality was the important part, which meant treating her as any other criminal.
So the question is whether the stawfeminist villain is supposed to represent all feminism, or just the sort of reactionary asshole that occasionally shows up in social justice movements. I believe the episode is problematic because it doesn’t really make that clear.
Oh Lord, I need to stop falling down the Doctor Who rabbithole on Youtube. *ugly snorting feelings” Sorry to get off thread!
Feminist Frequency makes me so happy. I just want to get drunk with Anita Sarkeesian and listen to her calmly and logically analyze all the media I consume. And tell me it will all be ok.
@Theda Bara – yup, Roosh the Douche did say that. He was happy because it gave him another reason to play his nasty little mind games with the unfortunate woman he was with. Causing women distress matters more to him than the pleasure of sex which PUAs would have everyone else believe is so important to them.
@Deoridhe – “I love reading about peoplesβ happies. I wish I had a man to be happy with, but thereβs time.”
I love reading about them too. I also have trouble resisting the urge to talk about mine, because even after six years my head’s still spinning that it all happened! π
Well, PPG isn’t without its problems. I’ve seen that Feminist Frequency vid but I haven’t seen the episode. Generally I will say that PPG is cute and funny and the lead characters are three girls, all of which is refreshing, but I allow as how it’s not without its problems.
I don’t know what to make of that tumbler. President Obama makes it on the tumbler. As does Tony Blair. I know I swing a little to the apologetic side, so I am making it a point to clear my skepticism with people, and I do see the point there- the victims of these folks economically fueled wars are peripherally related to the patriarchy. But is that reaching beyond what is useful? And not all of these people have been convicted- some are just accused. Certainly there is an extremely low conviction rate, but we do need a civil justice system of some sort. If it is failing us, should we attack relatively powerless individuals or try and change that system? Obviously you guys are on side here, I am just asking for input. Speaking of which, awesome points about the visible minority bias- totally did not pick up on that. And if the visible minority bias is a direct result of our society’s tendency to demonize people of colour, then is this vigilante registry really helpful or is it hurtful Further, the author that seems to be these folk’s mentor was criticized for her works by the bellhooks society. And their approach to trans-women seems cis-gendered-centric. Yeah, many question marks.
Bah, humbug. I come here for the misery and mockery and misandry. Reading about your happiness makes me realize people are having genuine connections with their significant others and their friends, enjoying inspired and beautiful human relationships with each other and without the weird psuedo pressure of evolutionary hogwas hand arbitary distinctions between alpha-beta-gamma-zeta behaviour.
Humbug, says I! It’s all chemicals and evolution and sluts and I don’t wish you a happy and fantastic time with the people in your life that matter greatly to you, no siree, I do not.
And you can have some coal for Christmas, you can.
What? What’s that, Marlowe? Ghosts of what now? Tell them to come back later! I’m busy! I don’t have time to gain a perspective on life and the importance of human warmth, I’m mocking peoples joy and happiness. No you can go rattle your chains elsewhere. Oh come on now, that’s hardly reasonable.
Fine, fine, I’ll have a little past-present-future moment, then. Seesh. Nag nag nag.

… Oh my gods you guys, the world is beautiful.
@Kittehserf Yup advice about women from the douche boils down to “look at me,look at me, I can never hope to land a woman with her own opinions and self-determination because that makes me feel less then, so long hair and heels and no english preferably and then I’m a happy boy” I’ve been on his forum a lot.
Jeez, you’re brave, going there! I won’t go near any MRA or PUA sites – first, because I get enough of ’em here; second, because they really are keen on doxxing anyone for the crime of being a woman or not hating women.
Say, didja see the latest pics of Mr K? π
Sorry to double post but Kittehserf, I’ve had a very long, hard week, feel free to post pictures of Mister and make me smile!
Ninja!
Who is going to mra sites? They are bad places, never go there. reddit is kinda ok because of the anonimity, but still, bad places.
@timetravellingfool I pretend to be a dude, don’t use my own IP just my college PCs. FOR SCIENCE. Miss my soul though. That’s why Manboobz is important and my SO gets more cuddles then she ever signed up for.
Omg, theda, that’s a hella cool shit. Be safe, and do pass on your findings!! And decompress often!
Theda Bara, here’s one that’s … not quite suitable for work. A bit. Beware, it’s caused a couple of hot flushes in its mature audience. π
red and gold tapestry bedspread
Well obviously Kittehserf is trying to end me *fans self furiously*. Ahem but a quiet thanks between us who appreciate himself. *blushes*
Heheheh there are quite a few of us, believe me! If he was in earthly flesh he’d need a security detail when we travelled.
Oh. Well, in that case, it’s complete bullshit, only a speck better than register-her because it doesn’t list addresses (just names and photos, because no one could ever find their location from just that).
Obama and Blair have done bad things. But, first off, when you say “he’s a war criminal” when you mean “I totally think he should have been convicted of a war crime,” you’re opening the door for others to say “zie is a criminal” when they mean “I totally think there should be a law against what zie did.” (“That woman who had an abortion is a murderer” is an example.)
And, second, while I’d have no problem with a tumblr of politicians who have abused their power, lumping them together with actual sex offenders is really, really belittling to actual victims of sex crimes. It’s reminiscent of using “you got raped” to mean “something bad happened to you.” (And no, having categories on your blog doesn’t help.)
Oh Doc, I’m the belieber of the historical. No shame, his biographies are my jam! Ahem. I should know better, apologise for me and the silly fangirling!
Yeah, thanks, Katz! ok, bad place. Bad, bad place.
Nothin’ silly about fangirling, especially when it’s him! I’ve been doing it for over thirty years. And it’s one of our marriage anniversaries on Wednesday! π
