These people weren’t against feminists getting in on, or opposing, the conversation. They even invited them to do so. Obviously that much pacifism and generosity was just too overwhelming for these shitsacks.

The only pretense at “justification” would be if she had committed a criminal act (she didn’t). Even if she had (she didn’t) it wouldn’t justify the threats. It might justify releasing her personal information; but not really; in such a circumstance anyone who had it ought to turn it over to the SQ (Sûreté du Québec).

But that’s not even close to what’s happened. People said she ought to be raped, tortured, mutilated and abandoned; so other people could enjoy seeing her corpse/see what happens to uppity women.

So, has it actually been proven that it was the protestors who pulled the alarm? Since it’s April, which is finals time, I just assumed it was a student who pulled it. I haven’t sat through a single semester of finals without atleast two exams being disrupted by a fire alarm

The extreme feminist groups cited in the article didn’t explicitly promise militant action, but these fuckers were planning on it. From the same fucking article:

Two individuals who frequent (UTMIA) events also attended the Townhall in the hopes of participating in genuine dialogue about gender issues on campus. Instead they were bullied, harassed and finally ejected from the event [..]
Guled Arale, Vice President External of the Scarborough Campus Student Union, was sent to stand over and intimidate these two individuals, though they had said nothing during the entire Townhall. Arale explained they had been “identified as (MRAs)” who were “not on their side,” merely because they had been seen attending UTMIA events and were therefore deemed unfit for participation in the public Townhall event.
This oppression and institutional discrimination by those in positions of power – paid for through funds levied from all students – was reinforced at the Townhall by attempts to vilify all those critical of the UTSU’s established position on gender issues. Organizers opened the public event by insisting that “Men’s Rights Activists” present identify themselves, following which the UTSU led a discussion focused on how to combat the University-sanctioned UTMIA by infiltrating their meetings, disrupting their events, vandalizing their posters, and committing harassment against their members.
Baolinh Dang, an employee of the University of Toronto-based Ontario Public Interest Research Group stated “we need to take a militant approach to this … We also need to build a database on who these activists are, find out where they work, find out where they live.”

So because I didn’t talk about her harassment (doing so would’ve been redundant, since everyone here offered her their condolences), because I pointed out that the way Mbz glossed over her screw-up was (in its own way) demeaning, I’m a fucking apologist now?

I wasn’t, and am not, defending Red’s harassers. You do not get to put your words in my mouth. You don’t get to decide for me and tell me what I really mean and don’t mean.
I, in no way, brought up any of this to justify the crap that’s been hurled at her. Just because I think what she did should’ve been met with the appropriate degree of criticism, doesn’t mean the death/rape threats and releasing her personal info on the web weren’t obviously beyond wrong.
