Men’s Rights Redditors team with PUA douchebag Roosh V to raise money for alleged victims of feminism

femfund

Men! Worried that eveil feminists will destroy your life and your financial future because, apparently, they have that power and love to destroy men’s lives for fun?

Fear no more, because Reddit’s Men’s Rightsers have your back! Mods of Reddit’s RedPill subreddit have started something called the Feminist Victims Fund, which will enable brave freedom fighters to send what will inevitably be a tiny amount of money to that dude who got fired after Adria Richards complained about a sexist joke he made, even though it wasn’t Richards who fired him and indeed she’s said she hopes he gets hired back!

Make sure you donate now, because Reddit’s MRAs will soon grow bored with this bold initiative and it will be completely forgotten, much like the massive Sink Misandry protest in Washington DC last year which actually didn’t even happen, come to think of it.

Here’s the pitch:

Feminism has caused some serious changes to our culture, to our society, and to our lives. We focus on some that are affected more than others, and we give back.

Our goal is to encourage men to speak out, to be men, to not fear oppression and enjoy their freedom of speech. Unfortunately in today’s climate, being a man has become a financial liability. Say the wrong thing in the wrong place and you can find your entire life ruined. Destroyed.

Feminists have fought for equality, but now they’re out for our rights.

They’re destroying us financially. They’re trying to tear apart our families.

We’re saying that enough is enough. No longer should men fear masculinity. No longer should speaking up risk a man his job, career, or family.

It’s time to rise up against the tyranny. It’s time to tell men it’s ok to speak up. We’re here for you. This is the Feminist Victims Fund.

Did I mention that you can donate using BITCOIN? In case you were worried that this thing wasn’t Reddity enough.

As Buzzfeed notes, one of the “board members” of the new fund is pickup guru and predatory douchebag misogynist Roosh V. On his blog yesterday, Roosh happily celebrated the harassment and vilification of Adria Richards in a post with the lovely title “American Feminist Adria Richards Gets Gang Raped By The Internet.”

Speaking of rape, Roosh is also the author of a booklet titled Bang Iceland, in which he admits that, well, he’s kind of a rapist himself. Buzzfeed quotes this rather revealing passage from the book, in which Roosh recalls a “date” he had in Iceland:

While walking to my place, I realized how drunk she was. In America, having sex with her would have been rape, since she legally couldn’t give her consent. It didn’t help matters that I was relatively sober, but I can’t say I cared or even hesitated. I won’t rationalize my actions, but having sex is what I do.

What a humanitarian.

David: Your wording above, “dude who got fired after Adria Richards complained about a sexist joke he made“, invites the post hoc ergo propter hoc. A casual reader will likely conclude that because he got fired after Richards complained, he therefore got fired because Richards complained.

However, the company press release states that there were multiple “factors” (plural) involved in the decision, and that his friend, who was also making jokes, was not fired and remains a “valued employee”.

From the link:

PlayHaven had an employee who was identified as making inappropriate comments at PyCon, and as a company that is dedicated to gender equality and values honorable behavior, we conducted a thorough investigation. The result of this investigation led to the unfortunate outcome of having to let this employee go. We value and protect the privacy of our employees, both past and present, and we will not comment on all the factors that contributed to our parting ways.

This employee was not Alex Reid [this is the man who was sitting next to him and making jokes with him], who is still with the company and a valued employee.

Might it be a good idea to update the post above? I ask because this appears to be a not-widely-known fact and you get plenty of hits, and because it puts lie to the notion that this was Richards’ fault, that she deserved the blow-back it somehow, and that the response was merely righteous indignation at an injustice against this guy (as oppose to just another excuse to slap-down a woman for standing-up to dickish behaviour).

Something tells me not much is going to come out of this like so many things the MRAs try to do.

Re: Marie in response to Ebilflindas….

I’m a bit late to the party, but the image is from the Ren & Stimpy cartoon. Specifically, the Royal Canadian Kilted Yaksman episode.

Please don’t ask me how I know this. Its… too painful to think of the hours of my life I’ve spent watching cartoons.

Oh… on the subject of Bitcoin, here’s an interesting article that lays out the problems with it, in particular, its vulnerability to speculators and the problems that the “fixed supply” create, in essence showing some of the reasons why most countries moved to a fiat currency a long time ago:

Seconding? Thirding? The hope that they get scammed again. In part because MRAs are quite clearly nothing like a human rights movement, and in part because maybe enough proof of that hitting them where it hurts will help send the non-hardcore MRAs running.

As for the guy who got fired, depending what the other factors where, I do hope this doesn’t affect his ability to find other work too badly. Yeah, it was out of line, but enough so to cost him his job when finding those remains quite difficult? Idk, maybe I’m just cranky about employers immediately round binning anyone who got fired/laid off (one of the many reasons I’m unemployed, laid off cuz crazy, still unemployed cuz laid off and crazy).

But yes, if they want to donate momey to men’s organizations, soup kitchens, homeless shelters — particularly those serving veterans, hell, just donate to the VA if you want.

Also, glad to have proof that Roosh is a horrible person and an admitted rapist. Well, not glad that he’s a rapist, since that means he raped someone (including, but probably not limited to, the woman he mentioned).

Also, whole bunch of people I haven’t seen in awhile, good to see y’all!

thanks for the link, nerdypants. i do wonder why one was fired but not the other. i guess the most likely explanation is that the fired one had a history of acting inappropriately, or when confronted about his behaviour at the conference he responded with anger and no remorse, and the not-fired one showed contrition? it’s all just supposings though. i personally don’t think anybody involved should have been fired, the offense was quite minor (in my opinion). a talking-to would have sufficed, and from what i know they did receive that from the conference organizaers. it’s a very disappointing situation all around, although of course my greatest sympathy lies with the woman who got fired for literally no reason at all but because a bunch of raging misogynists cyberattacked her cowardly employer.

“False rape convictions, minority hirings, and unjustified firings are all too common in a feminist controlled society.”

Given the majority of senior positions in Government, law, business, academia, media and any number of other fields are held by men, exactly how is feminism controlling society? What do MRAs imagine the men in these positions are thinking and doing? Can someone explain this to me?

Warren: you are trying to bring logic and common sense to MRA thought. That way lies madness.

Argenti – I’m more worried about Adria Richards finding work. After all she’s the one who’s had rape and death threats, been doxxed, and her company blackmailed into firing her in the first place. Mr Straw-that-broke-the-camel’s-back Fired Guy hasn’t had any of that shit to deal with.

Since feminism is (according to the MRM) to blame for everything from war, to male homelessness, to global warming, to head lice — why are they raising bitcoins only for this dude?

Kitteh — sorry, I thought it obvious that she shouldn’t face any of this, but you’re right, I have far more sympathy for her. In her case though I’m more worried about her safety — yeah, she should just be snatched up as a great hiree but more importantly, she shouldn’t have to worry if someone will carry out the death threats.

I’m going to stop babbling now and just say that it’s really fucked up that she has to fear for her life while he has to worry about finding a new job, when he’s the one who was out of line.

I should have read that into what you said! ::slinks to comprehension fail corner of shame::

I’m just not feeling any sympathy for the dude at all. He’d done enough that this relatively minor (?) incident was enough to get him fired, and frankly there are people losing their jobs without prompting it by being dickheads.

And OT but I just read themisanthropicmuse’s wonderful comment from the thread about feminists not being atheists that was linked to earlier.

Priceless! 🙂

re Bitcoins: They aren’t all that anonymous: Bitcoin is not anonymous: (arXiv:1107.4524).

WikiLeaks recently advised its Twitter followers that it now accepts anonymous donations via Bitcoin. They also state that “Bitcoin is a secure and anonymous digital currency. Bitcoins cannot be easily tracked back to you, and are a [sic] safer and faster alternative to other donation methods.” They proceed to describe a more secure method of donating Bitcoins that involves the generation of a one-time public-key but the implications for those who donate using the tweeted public-key are unclear. Is it possible to associate a donation with other Bitcoin transactions performed by the same user or perhaps identify them using external information?

Our tools resolve several of the users with identifying information gathered from the Bitcoin Forums, the Bitcoin Faucet, Twitter streams, etc. These users can be linked either directly or indirectly to their donations….

Conclusion
This is a straight-forward passive analysis of public data that allows us to de-anonymize considerable portions of the Bitcoin network. We can use tools from network analysis to visualize egocentric networks and to follow the flow of Bitcoins. This can help us identify several centralized services that may have even more details about interesting users.

Kitteh — slink back over here! I should’ve been clearer the first time, to anyone not familiar with my rambling way of mangling logic it could easily be read as if I only sympathize with him, and I have far more sympathy for her.

As for whether the comment was minor, assuming all that was said was “I’d fork your repository” and “you’d need a big dongle” yeah, that’s kinda standard fare IT jokes. Sexual for sure, but common enough they almost certainly thought nothing of it. If it were just that he’d have probably just gotten a stern talking to.

See…forking a repository is a thing with actual tech meaning, dongles are things that are pretty funny in their own right (they just look hilarious, go google dongle), there are plenty of other protocols that just lend themselves to crass jokes that shouldn’t be said in public. It’s like they were written by horny high schoolers, or at least, adults with a very juvenile sense of humor.

And I shouldn’t be drunk posting…

Speaking of feminists not being athiests, and going completely prior to my liberal-Quaker convictions:

My kitty cat Lavender is going into the vet tomorrow to have a lump the vet found while coming over to treat his sister treated. He’ll have an x-ray and then either be operated on, let go, or put down. He’s been a kitty for 14-16 years and my kitty for 15-16, and he’s wished you mob cuddles and purrs before. I am sobbing so, so much and I just love that poor fluffy kitty and I *urge* any Men Boobzer who believe in any kind of paranormal activity or higher power to pray for him because I’m so scared cancer will take my kittycat and then my mum.

“Lavender the long lean tabby pussycat and lowquacks’ mum” should do for any omniescient power. Please, even if you’re lapsed or your religion doesn’t pray much, at least try for me; he was one of my best friends and the individual who deserves to die least of all.

I swear this isn’t a spam post through a keylogger or anything. I love all of you and can’t stand misogyny.
