I haven’t had the patience to go through the discussions that developed in the wake of the Men’s Rights Subreddit’s historic winning of the prestigious King Dick of Fart Mountain Subreddit of the Day award yesterday. But I did read enough to come across this little exchange, in which a heroic Men’s Rightser confessed how touched he was that someone outside the Men’s Rights subreddit had noticed the bold, brave activism of Reddit MRAs.
And then someone pointed out some other things he’s said a couple of days ago.
NWOslave, is that you?
Actually, I doubt it; NWOslave has an account under his own name there. But great minds do think alike.
Here’s the link to StarFscker’s original comment in context.
That would be an issue with zippers, fersure. ::cringe::
Niters, Argenti!
lowquacks — no problem, and good luck with your psych meds! Seeing how my sleeping pill is fucking incompetent, I’m still here (and probably will be ’til dawn, at least another hour…or more like two because that’s the speed of this Criminal Minds plot!) — thanks for the thought though!
Pubes? My cousin’s ex husband managed to catch my brother’s wee penis in footies when we were little…20 years later and he still groans about it (can’t really blame him!)
Oh hey kitteh — 24 and making penis jokes, wtf does that Freud idiot say about that? *dies* (that my brother is an immature fuckwit?)
Aww, confused Reid is adorable!
Wait, aren’t skinny jeans with an elasticated waist basically leggings? Kittehs, you are breaking your own rules! The kind of skinny jeans (or jeans in general) have just enough give so that you can bend your knees without ripping them, and no more. (For any premium jeans geeks lurking, my favorite washes are Paige’s McKinley and Black Sea.)
Argenti’s modesty is kind of charming. Not wanting randoms checking in on the dangly bits makes it make sense, I’m just not used to the kind of people who like corsets caring much about modesty in general.
RE Short enough, I think what Kittehs is getting at is that skinny jeans for women, or jeggings, are usually cut with the assumption that they may be worn with flats or tucked into boots, thus the inseam is shorter. You can get skinny jeans with a longer inseam, but it’s quite common to find ones that are in the 30 inch inseam range, which for me is perfect for flats or tucking into boots (I’m just over 5ft2).
(Points up)
The kind of jeans that I prefer, I mean. I don’t like the super stretchy kind, don’t like the way they look on me.
Um, on topic! I can partially explain their problem. I’m watching Totally Legal Not At All Copyright Issuey copies of Criminal Minds, and having to run the gauntlet of barely dressed women first — I just closed one of the “never again pay for sex” variety.
Spend enough time with Totally Legal Not At All Issuey online copies of shows, and these ads, and it seems altogether too easy to see women as a commodity, one that isn’t filling your desires if only tempting you — because these ads are women (*cough*omgs the photoshop*cough*) in next to nothing, or nothing, promising you a good time, free sex, live porn, etc etc. Always implying that they’re not porn stars, but real women you could date and have real live sexytimes with because the women totally want you.
Hell, view enough of this shit and GGG almost makes sense — he probably got it into his head that there are real women behind those ads and someone ought to be setting him up with them!
…most of them look like either very good CG, omgs photoshop, or porn stars…the ones that don’t? Apparently anything showing cleavage might become someone’s porn ad, which, honestly, seems far worse than my Totally Legal TV.
Cassandra — it isn’t the sort of corset you’re thinking of I don’t think, it’s rather like this — http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Ca_1720.gif
“Oh hey kitteh — 24 and making penis jokes, wtf does that Freud idiot say about that? *dies* (that my brother is an immature fuckwit?)”
LOL I hardly dare ask! Mind you, Freud was apparently afraid of ferns, and spent some time hanging out with a jackass who thought sexual hangups could be cured by nose operations, so I can’t take him seriously anyway … 😛
Cassandra – do they count as jeggings? They are proper denim, albeit stretchy, with back pockets and all. I thought jeggings were the leggings (the ones almost like tights) with denim print on?
That, or I’ve done a huge fail. ::slinks to corner of shame::
7FAM’s Dusseldorf wash is pretty too, but their jeans don’t fit me right.
Person Looking Good in Jeans aka my day out today. 🙂
Fancy jeggings tend to be real denim, but stretchy, with a proper waistband. It’s the stretchiness that people like about them I think. I do not like that aspect at all.
Freud *shakes head* I gave something by or about him a once over, gods, a decade ago? I gave up at something about wtf suicide methods mean, and how if a black man jumps off a building he wants (wanted?) to return to the womb…because availability is Totally Not A Factor!
Given I can’t remotely cite that, don’t quote me on the specifics, I will go on record saying his views on suicide were no less fucked up, and somehow still sex related.
These are the ones that I live in.

My distinct impression of Freud is that most of his views on most subjects were fucked up, and he did one helluva lot of projecting. Plus ever since reading the suggestion that all too many of his patients WERE victims of sexual abuse, and that he couldn’t/wouldn’t believe it, my opinion of him’s plummeted. Not that it was ever high.
And seriously, a little boy being scared of bitten by a horse = really being scared of castration by his father? WTF? Can’t people be scared of an actual thing without it going back to sex?
Plus the whole lusting-after-your-parent thing … oh, pardon me while I vomit. So much fail on so many grounds.
Also these – as you can see, I really like that wash. Goes with everything.

Wow, just wow, I got bitten by a donkey in kindergarten, guess what? Took quite awhile before I’d go near a donkey again! It’s has to do with things other than donkeys ow exactly?! (Ok, pumpkins are also relevant, as the farm with the donkey gave me one)
Part of the issue with Freud is that he based his theory about typical functioning on people who were not typical or they wouldn’t have been his patients.
That’s not the only issue with his work, but it’s a pretty big one.
This is the closest I can find in Katie’s site to the jeans I wear. Mine are a bit closer round the ankles (that, or my ankles are fat). 😛

And apart from the white stitching and mine being pull-ons, this shape’s fairly close to ones I’ve had from Maison Target:

There’s that, and this is less a critique of him and more a critique of later Freudians, but all the stuff that does make a certain amount of sense? Near as I’ve seen, *all* of it is a Freud’s work alright, his daughter, Anna’s. But a woman in that era…
Kind of random, but it helps me feel less bad about it when I find a part that isn’t shit — it always seems to trace back to her and not him (also, apparently he did have sex, at least once…more might’ve helped some though!)
I didn’t know that! All the stuff I have read about old Siggi makes me want to barf, so I haven’t gone into it at length. Plus, that book we were talking about t’other night … yeah, later Freudians who should walk on Legos for a week. And then psychoanalyse each other about why they didn’t enjoy it.
@ Kittehs
The Target ones are totally leggings! Denim leggings, but still. So now you have to stop shaking your cane at the young folk for wearing them.
::bows head in shame::
mea culpa!
– is this the whippersnappers’ revenge?
My former professor who gave lectures in which he talked with great zeal about the anal stage of development and “stingily withholding the feces” remains my image of the kind of people who dig Freud. He was a very strange man.
