The Stuff I Ban Part 2: Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop

Symbolic representation of the Man Boobz Trash folder.
Symbolic representation of the Man Boobz Trash folder.

Time for another peek into the Man Boobz “Trash” folder!

Regular commenters here may have come across the comments of an MRA/MGTOWer calling himself justeunperdant, who has graced the comments section here with sarcastic if often quite surreal remarks which are enhanced, I feel, by his poor command of the English language.

Here’s one of his perplexing little gems (and no, it doesn’t make any more sense in context):

just1

Here’s one that’s slightly less perplexing, though it seems to be based on the notion that Title IX isn’t a law but is actually the name of some dude:

just2

But what you don’t realize is that not all of Mr. justeunperdant’s comments see the light of day. For example, several days ago he tried to post the following comment:

just3

The problem here wasn’t the comment itself, which is fairly typical of MRAs who visit the site; it was that he attached a video that evidently showed pictures of Jodi Arias, now on trial for the murder of her boyfriend, dragging around his dead body. Not particularly wanting such a graphic video up on Man Boobz, I sent justeunperdant’s comment to the trash.

This made him mad:

just4

I didn’t let that one through either.  He keeps posting comments; I keep tossing them in the trash.

just5

When MRAs suggest I delete comments because I “can’t handle the truth,” this is the sort of “truth” they’re talking about.

@Kitteh, glad that didn’t come across as odd! I am such a softie about really nice, loving couples. Not the annoying kind of post endless hearts of each others facebook walls and make statuses about how “I luv my baybz hes the best boyf evvaaaaaaaarrr xoxoxox<3<3<3<3xxxxxxxxxxxx" but the ones where their feelings just come across in everything they say but it doesn't feel put on or affected.

Also about the British being manly.

Oh good grief no, as has been pointed out we invented Glam Rock and what is more, cross dressing is practically a national past time.

In Christmas Pantomimes the "principle boy" character such as Peter Pan or Prince Charming is traditionally played by a woman and there are "Pantomime Dames" usually playing middle aged or elderly or un-attractive female characters like Widow Twankey in Aladdin or the Ugly Step Sisters in Cinderella.

What's more, you'd be hard pressed to find a British University without some kind of event which will allow blokes to dress up as women in their Fresher's Week.

Drag is also a popular theme for Stag do's and as far as I can work out the average British man is never happier than when borrowing their girl friends dress for a themed night and are very willing to don heels, make-up and the whole shebang.

Plus our national sport, football may be a "blokey" game but take a look at the footballers themselves! I'm pretty certain that most footballers spend more time on their hair than I do and they are clearly all on the sun beds.

Rugby is pretty manly on first site but there's a stereotype that rugby players are actually all closet gay men who are doing the sport as it allows them to shove their heads between other mens thighs. Plus the amount of homoerotic banter that goes on between the average rugby team is truly spectacular.

Then there's the tradition of the great male friendship with potential homoerotic undertones which is immortalized in literature (see Brideshead revisited) and you also see in history ("Kiss me Hardy") and prior to the Victorian age it was very common for men, particularly young military men to promenade together arm in arm. Also, at some of the great public schools, being able to walk arm in arm with your friends was considered a privilege which only the older boys or prefects were permitted.

Leaping on between getting up from sleep and going to work. I don’t think Kiwis sound like South Africans based on vowel sounds. The South African accent sounds like the mouth is more rounded, and they often stick an “r” behind an “o”. That was the first way I learnt to tell the South African accent (as opposed to recognising it as an accent but wondering what it was) – the “o”.

Dropping in late to point out: not only is AA (that is, Alcoholics Anonymous, not you, Argenti!) overtly religious in a very exclusionary way, but…

Like most hyper-religious folks trying to evangelize a magical conversion/healing story ….they tend to overstate their success rate.

http://www.sciencebasedmedicine.org/index.php/aa-is-faith-based-not-evidence-based/

It includes links to what studies have been done vis a vis effectiveness. Would you believe the most effective treatment for alcoholism is a quick mention from your doctor that it would be better for your health if you cut back?

Historophilia – no time to do a long reply but have a look at Kate Beaton on the subject of “Kiss me, Hardy.”

I think you’ll enjoy it. 😉

So I don’t know if anyone else noticed this, but the kotaku commenter’s blog that atomicgrizzly mentioned earlier in this thread has suddenly made a complete 180.

And just like that a little bit of my faith in humanity is restored.

@Kitteh, I love that one ;P

But then I love everything by Kate Beaton. One of my Kendo buddies met her when she came to convention in Leeds (we’re in York) and she drew sexy Batman for him and his girlfriend and apparently giggled the whole time she was drawing it.

Cheeto, that’s heartening to read. We get a fair number of ex-MRAs here, but I think that’s the first I’ve seen at the moment of transition.

It’s mitigated by a certain troll who had a great talent for claiming to be reformed and then turning into a dick again in 10 seconds, though. We’ll see.

katz — a certain recurring smelly sock who’s name goes into mod?

Yeah, here’s hoping that this guy stays an ex-MRA, given some of his more recent “this is miserably lonely” posts, I think he might realize that the MRM does not produce happy people.

More power to this guy if he really has dumped his MRM shades. That was an encouraging read.

Of course, based on that last post, he’ll probably still say that men and women are both equally oppressed, just not that men are *more* oppressed and women/feminism are the problem.

Don’t mention the froth!

Harking back to the bread conversation a few days back – a baker has opened near work and they sell multigrain sourdough. Just bought my first one this morning, still warm. Delicious all on its own and even better, it’s the taste I associate with Mr K’s bread (though his isn’t multigrain) – point there being that I’ve never eaten sourdough on this side before.

And for a weirdness, I just found where to buy it at home, too – at the greengrocer. Not the bakeries, the greengrocer! Maybe they’re filling a gap in the market.

Eh, I think it’s time to come out already.

I’m Mr. Vince, the author of “The Lonely Struggle.” I created the blog for an ebook I’m planning on writing (already in progress). Sorry I fooled all of you guys. It’s good to know that it was convincing though.

Mr. Vince is partially based on where I was a few years ago. I was in a bad place, so I can really relate to a lot of MRAs in that way. If any of you guys want to give your opinion as a contribution to the ebook (credited or uncredited) that would be awesome.

I basically wanted to find a way to write a takedown of MRA ideas using the ideas themselves and illustrating the emotions behind the MRA mentality. It worked out better than I expected. I got about a hundred replies to the kotaku post I wrote.

I’m going to reveal my blog as fiction tomorrow.
