Orgasms, away?

Fellas! Better hold on to yourselves, because I’ve got some terrible news for you.

Actually, you’d better NOT hold on to yourselves. Because this is the news, straight from that always 100% reliable news source, the Men’s Rights subreddit:

MRalphabet

I wonder if manginal orgasms are still allowed?

Not related at all, but I’m squatting on the “spiffytash” reddit account suggested a few threads back for Pierre’s AWOL moustache.

No idea what to do with it, but it’s been claimed and if any Men Boobzer have ideas they can have the thing.

Holy shit…is that player taking on the Butcheress in normal vision?! Duuuude… Pardon me, I can’t beat her without dilated perception.

Is the random cleavage for no reason supposed to make me laugh? Because it does.

(The cleavage on the other woman is less giggle-worthy in that it seems to occur as part of her overall outfit, rather than having been tacked on because someone decided that there wasn’t enough fanservice yet.)

Cassandra — the one in red and black is your PC, and yes, it’s part of the outfit. Of the three females characters, exactly zero do to have cleavage (one has a cutout in bodysuit just for cleavage)

I think it’s absolutely hilarious to do an upside down rotation, decapitate multiple nazis, and then land with boob jiggle. I will chop your head off, but my boobs might fall out at any moment! *dies of laughter*

The butcheress’s cleavage is definitely tacked on because boobs! but she’s hard enough to beat that it becomes trivial background noise. Is a bit silly to have the female Mengele in such an absurd outfit though.

Strewth, were they superglued into their costumes?

On the subject of hairs in the mouth – is this why MRAs seem to hate cats so much? It’s not because they’re marked as feminine/liked by women, it’s because HAIRS!

That other female character — http://www.myfconline.com/character_avatars/47749_114976.jpg

Predictably, the men are in perfectly sensible uniforms (or absurd ones that are all “look at my giant biceps!”)

Very intense Hollywood taping?

I always find blatant fanservice hilarious. I also suspect that mockery may be a more effective way to curb it than anger in the long run.

The Kittehs' Unpaid Help

Oh this is a laugh – on the Lords of their Dingalings thread, Abnoy’s on about having enjoyed comics “since he became sentient”.

Always thought he was a robot.

CassandraSays

I saw that, and was tempted to reply that I’m not so convinced about the sentient part.

The Kittehs' Unpaid Help

I was thinking much the same thing – or a “When did that happen? I missed it” response.

Yes! To both points. I like decapitating zombie nazis, I’m not going to get angry that they do fan service, I am, however, going to laugh my ass off when Rayne opens a door and her boobs bounce because boobs do not work that way.

Is Abnoy another sock puppet from MRAL? Ever more could be a give away.

Also, could I please have some examples of things that have been illegally banned by governments? Illegal = against the law, banned = requires legislation or regulation, so how can something be illegally banned by a government? Logic, you fail at it.

Also some fanservice is less problematic than others. Over the top zombie bits flying everywhere isn’t so much a problem because there are no actual zombies that can be hurt by the idea that it’s cool to splode zombies. With gendered stuff it gets more complicated.

The issue of who already has social capital is part of the picture too. There’s tons of fanservice in visual kei, and in its spiritual twin bishounen manga/anime, but I don’t think that’s harmful in the same way because there isn’t any pre-existing idea that men are ambulatory fucktoys to negatively reinforce.

*zombie nazis, so even when they aren’t zombies, it’s not exactly bad to kill them. There’s a certain satisfication to “oh, they’re literal third reich nazis, I have no sympathy” (actually, I won’t kill the cowering plebe level nazis, doesn’t really seem right)

Yaoi can be questionable with reinforcing negative views of GLBT people, but no, visual kei and bishounen don’t really have that problem. If anything, men in make up and fancy dress is rather count to traditional gender roles. *is entirely biased as I want men in heels and make up to be acceptable*

CassandraSays

Yaoi does tend to duplicate some of the more questionable ideas about consent and the appropriateness of sex with underage people that turns up in dude-focused anime and manga, too. Also the bad habit of saying that a character is legally of age but drawing them to look like they’re 10 or 12.

Totally OT but this is one of the most interesting things I’ve seen in a long time – there’s a theory going around that the uptick and subsequent decline in violent crime that happened starting in the 70s might have been a result of exposure to lead via paint and leaded gasoline. I know it initially sounds wacky, but seriously, check it out.

No, no, it’s the flouride in the water! The Big Book of Learnin’ says so!

I thought fluoride made kids dumb not violent? That lead hypothesis makes almost too much sense — it’s been frikken’ obvious that there had to be some missing viable in crime statistics, why all variables only seemed to partial explain it. Lead almost seems to simple…of course, I’m sure that was said about why mercury in cosmetics might be a bad idea…

Crime has largely been studied from a sociological perspective, which, of course, found poverty, single parenthood, etc, to be large factors. But that article’s right, they’re also the factors that increase the odds of lead exposure.

If I had a beard, I’d be stroking it in thought right now. It does make sense, and while I’d like to see the studies, it does sound like they’d pass meta-analysis muster…could well be lead…

CassandraSays

The fact that it tracks with when different areas started and finished allowing leaded products is particularly interesting. If this turns out to have been the missing piece of the puzzle the religious folks who want to claim that the crime wave was all about the sluts will be so mad, and the MRAs will start to look for a theory about how feminism causes lead to be added to products.

For instance, OZ banned flat-chested pornstars, UK banned BDSM, US banned child super models, Canada banned lolicon and shotacon, etc. Pedo Panic in the Anglosphere indeed!

Oh and feminists are always hassling men over the “objectification” of women in porn and elsewhere , which is why male nerds can’t have nice things anymore… BTW, I was never MRAL in a past cyberlife online .

I’m weirdly reminded about that bit in The Handmaid’s Tale: “They have no outlets now besides themselves, and that’s a crime.” The narrator is talking about how the soldiers aren’t allowed to masturbate.

Re: “all hetero sex is rape”, I’m not sure if this idea comes from Dworkin or someone else, but I’ve also seen feminists raise the question of how meaningful women’s consent is in a patriarchal culture. Not just because so many men will go ahead with or without it, but because there’s so much pressure on us to want sex, with men, in ways that men enjoy – men created and control the framework of sex in our culture, so that even when women do have their own desires and their own voices, it’s only within the confines of that male-dominated framework.

Does that make any sense? I’m not always good at explaining things.
