The votes are in and the winner of the highly coveted Man Boobz Troll of the Year Award for 2012 is … MRAL!
Wait, you say, he wasn’t even on the ballot?
Well, no. The troll that got the most votes from you, my dear readers, was the verbose anti-Man Boobz crusader known as Steele — also known as Mikhael Varpole and, briefly, as Torvus Butthorn. Indeed, Steele cruised to victory, getting 47% of the vote, as compared with the 33% received by Tom Martin, his only real competitor. (Dr. Pell came in third, with a mere 6% of the total.)
But as it turns out we’ve been played, big time. The troll we know and love as Steele turns out to have been MRAL all along.
Yes, that MRAL – the long banned commenter who cannot seem to walk away from this blog. We’ve uncovered and banned many of his previous sockpuppets, but somehow he managed to slip his boldest sockpuppet right by us.
Oh, sure. I and others here often wondered if Steele was for real; it seemed pretty clear to me that he couldn’t possibly believe everything he said. But it wasn’t until I went back to some of “Steele’s” earliest comments here, in preparation for this post, that I discovered how justified these suspicions had been. Turns out that one of “Mikhael Varpole’s” IP addresses matched one used by an earlier troll, Scooby Doo on Zombie Island, who had been outed as MRAL a couple of months earlier.
D’OH!
“Torvus Butthorn” really should have been a dead giveaway. But otherwise the highly dedicated MRAL did a masterful job of keeping his troll character consistently ridiculous yet plausible enough to not be an obvious phony, and of hiding his particular obsessions in such a way that he didn’t give himself away.
So, congrats, MRAL, and you’re banned again.
After this, the rest of the results are a bit of an anticlimax.
Sunshine Mary wins the Special-est Snowflake award for Female MRA Trolls, with 52% of the vote. Driversuz comes in second with 32%.
Tom Martin easily wins the Worst Human Being award with a stunning 73% to David K Meller’s 22%.
Some Guy Bored With Your Schtick wins Most Tiresome with 58% of the vote; Diogenes is a distant second with 24%.
And JudgyBitch wins Most Pathetic Vote Beggar.
I hope they’re not all MRAL too.
On tea: if you aren’t sold on tea, and need something stronger, then go for a cinnamon tea.
I’m not kidding. I’m serious. Please stop laughing. Oh, all right, laugh if you must. But apple cinnamon tea is awesome power.
@hrovitnir
I have some with the flower-opening that I got as a gift and am finally going to use now that my sis is visiting. Thanks for reminding me!
NatFantastic that’s all the explaining that I have the energy to do. And I’m only doing it because Evito is a recovering MRA and because she seems willing to learn.
As for tea, I only drink one kind of tea and that is English Breakfast with milk no sugar.
See me, I hate, with a loathing strong and deep, Earl Grey, and all it’s ilk.
I’m a tea purist. herbal teas, mostly crap. Flavored teas, mostly crap.
Green teas, white tease, oolongs and black teas, yummy.
Masala Chai is a different beast, because of it’s being steeped in milk. Make them up plain, and add milk… utter crap.
🙂
I do like some bark infusions as well, but those aren’t the sort of thing to drink every day, nor in quantity, no matter what Eull Gibbons had to say about the pine tree.
I’m a teapot and loose leaf person (teabags? Peh! You know they put all the floor sweepings into teabags?*) but usually English Breakfast or Ceylon. With milk but no sugar, thanks. Possibly with brandy in times of stress 😉
*Not really but how would you know when you can’t see the actual leaves?
*makes notes on tea*
Cheers guys 🙂
white tease
It looks like white tea, but when you put it in water it turns out to be something totally different!
(Don’t mind me, I’m just…teasing…)
“I’m not kidding. I’m serious. Please stop laughing. Oh, all right, laugh if you must. But apple cinnamon tea is awesome power.”
Lol, I will always associate that stuff with a bad ‘shroom trip — it is excellent for covering the ‘shroom flavor though (it’s very cinnamon-y in other words)
…and anyone debating th ‘shroom thing, let the tea cool a bit first XD
timetravellingfool: I think It’s coming close to a decade now. 😉
Actually, I think I’ll commit to an OkCupid ad this year. Single life is starting to suck, and I’m finally feeling comfortable enough to say “This is who I am, this is what I can give”. My introversion has damaged a couple relationships in the past, and coming to terms with that is helping me to understand the sort of relationship that would work, and that others might find appealing.
Now, if I can only recover from my caffeine addiction, I can ween myself off sweet coffee onto black Earl Grey tea. 😉
Oooh, or Republic of Tea Blackberry Sage! (If I can find it again)
Lauralot, I had the same problem with coffee. It just tasted like hot bitter water to me.
Many years ago a friend brought me a coffee press and all different coffees from this little shop at the Pike Street Market. Market Spice is a tea that will make you stand up and take notice, by the bye. So we tasted various coffees with different combinations of cream and sugar till I discovered a delicious one. It has been downhill ever since.
I can taste coffee, but it’s so bitter I prefer not to.
I do like iced green tea, and I’ll drink it hot when I’m sick. Never had white, and I don’t seem to taste black teas at all, which is a shame because they smell nice.
“As for tea, I only drink one kind of tea and that is English Breakfast with milk no sugar.”
English Breakfast, lots of sugar, milk optional. I also drink anything tasting of mint.
Anyone else a huge rooibos fan? Lauralot, you might add rooibos to your to-drink list. It’s quite rich and flavorful.
Assam, Yunnan and Keemun for me. Brewed strong, with a bit of milk and no sugar.
Coffee. Black. Bitter. Turn your innards inside out black and bitter. No cream, no sugar, just like FSM created it. Curls your hair, put hair on your chest (ladies, be warned!), wakes you the fuck up in the morning.
And everything else is uphill from there, so it’s all good.
I’m not sure, but I think Steele/ Mr. Al can also take credit for “laughage.” Which is easily my favorite non-word so far.
@ Leftwing- I’ve been on okcupid for a couple of months now, and it’s great!! Lots of nice fellas and everyone is quite pleasant and polite. However I’m discovering I’m too chicken to actually start the dating process- I keep getting to the planning stages and talking myself out of it. Not this week, though- I am biting the bullet, putting on my fanciest jeggings, and going into public and meeting people. Wish me luck!
TTF, good luck. Go in with confidence and self-esteem, and let things go as they go.
FSM made coffee green and waxy. Man made it dark and flavorsome.
Some Gal, awesome. Hope you like it.
I am so not surprised you’re a purist, pecunium. 😉 I can’t help wanting to be a tea snob but I’m just not made out for it. I like it with milk and sugar and I drink a hell of a lot more shitty instant coffee than any tea. lol
English Breakfast is definitely a winner though. Haven’t tried cinnamon… must remember that one. Chai is definitely awesome, I recommend that for sure if you like sweet/spicy/milky. Mmm.
I’m… never quite sure what I think of rooibos. It just doesn’t quite do it for me but it is kinda nice. My friend loves it though, and I love buying people tea so it works out. 😀
@lauralot – my only interest in tea is using ginger tea for my digestive issues. I drink lemon or mint herbal tea occasionally as well, mostly to keep warm. But since I cannot have caffeine, sugar or milk in my beverages, I don’t forsee becoming a tea fanatic any time soon. (I do recommend ginger tea, though, if you have indigestion or heartburn or especially nausea. Ginger is a strong natural anti-nausea medicine, so either in tea or ginger ale form – real ginger ale, though – it can be quite helpful.)
I don’t drink coffee at all. Water drinkers unite!
Mr. aL (hope I don’t get moderated) was before my time but I’ve read a little in the archives. He seemed like he could be a good guy, except for some issues. I’m actually a little sad to see that he’s Steele, whom I was going to vote for. At least Steele was funny. He pulled off an awesome sock, but why? That’s a lot of time and energy to…what? Guy, really, put this much into real life and see how that goes. Give the world a shot.
I always drink ginger ale when I’m sick but I didn’t know that! I was just taught as a kid that carbonated drinks are good when you’re sick.
Woah, busy time on Manboobz! Must also chime in on ginger tea being tasty. Oh and peppermint. When I’m trying to drink water (sorry drst and drs everywhere, I really hate straight water) and less caffeine, I drink a shitload of peppermint, ginger and rosehip teas.
Good luck TTF! I’m sure you’ll have some fun times. ^_^
Here in NZ it’s 10.47am. My boss has opened this mini cat-only clinic, operates like a GPs office with a bit of stock, any surgery etc we’ll take to the other clinic. But basically I’m stuck here doing nothing (I’m allowed to piss about on the internet all day, that’s how dead it is) aaaaaall daaaaay. AND my partner’s on holiday! Bah humbug.
But anyway, a random cat wandered by this morning and I invited him in. Now he’s curled up on our beds (for sale). So cute! 😀
