No Godwin’s Law here. This Men’s Rights Activist really IS a Nazi.

Great. Another Hitler baby.
Great. Another Hitler baby.

Well, now you’ve gone and done it, you evil feminists: you’ve turned 0bvious_Atheist into a Nazi!

We first met the Men’s Rights subreddit regular the other day, when in a fit of ingenuity he blamed the Newtown school shootings on, er, Title IX. Well, his strange political journey has continued, and on his blog, on Boxing Day, the Canadian MRA officially announced his conversion to neo-Nazism. Literally. Let’s let him explain:

I have grown impatient

I have lost my desire for conventional activism. We live in an era where men like Warren Farrell are run off campus by mobs of Femistasi, men like Keenan Midgley get maligned for trying to start Men’s Centres, JohnTheOther gets harassed in the streets and others like him get assaulted, Mr. Heimbach a white students advocate in the United States, is constantly maligned by the media and the intellectual establishment, and Jared Taylor, a meek and mild Yale graduate, is harassed at every turn by the establishment.

Huh. I have to admit I’m not completely up-to-date on all the examples of anti-white, anti-male oppression he lists here, but I would like to point out that Warren Farrell did not, in fact, get run off the University of Toronto campus. A number of students protested his visit, some of them quite rudely, but the police interceded on his behalf, clearing away protesters so he could go ahead and make his speech.

I also looked up that vague reference to “Mr. Heinbach,” and discovered that Matthew Heimbach is a student at Maryland’s Towson University who wants to start a White Student Union there. As part of his campaign for tolerance on behalf of America’s beleaguered white majority, he recently posed in front of Martin Luther King Jr.’s church in Montgomery holding a Confederate flag.

Gosh, how terribly unfair it is that some people might have criticized him for this.

Mr. Atheist continues:

I’m a young man. I don’t have the patience to go around asking for permission to exercise my inalienable, natural right to freedom of association. As Harold Covington said, Whites feel they need a permission slip from quote “the Jews” unquote to advocate for them. I feel the same thing can be said of Men’s Rights Activism. We feel that we need permission from Feminists, the intellectual establishment, and the state to self-advocate. Our entire movement has become a quest for permission from the left to self-advocate.

I’m pretty sure that not even a single molecule of that is even remotely true. What color is the sky in Imaginary Backwards Land?

We want a Men’s Ministry in the government. We want Men’s organizations on campus. We want White student unions. All of those things are politically toxic to the establishment and out of reach, and furthermore, if you look at what the “Men’s Ministries” in the Northern European welfare states have done you will remain unimpressed, and perhaps even alarmed, at how little they have mitigated the total alienation of young men from the respective societies of those countries.

Of course, the young men who are most alienated from society in the Northern (and Southern) European welfare states today are the immigrants who are so despised by Mr. Atheist and his fellow White “Nationalist” racist assholes. And these young male immigrants aren’t feeling alienated because of a lack of White Student Unions or the unimpressive actions of Men’s Ministries; they’re feeling alienated because of racism and a lack of jobs.

With this in mind we must recognize that productive organizations simply are not going to become a reality. If you doubt me, you can go look at what they did to Dr Warren Farrell when he tried to speak at the University of Toronto. I have absolutely no desire to be screamed at, spit on, expelled, fired, ostracized, and made into a pariah for simply asking to exercise my right to freedom of association.

So the fact that a couple of dozen students protested against a speaker on a college campus, delaying his talk for half an hour or so, means that normal political activity on behalf of your ass-backwards faux “civil rights movement” is impossible? Mr. Atheist, do you have any fucking idea what real civil rights advocates went through in order to get the same basic rights as everyone else, like the right to fucking vote? Do you think that feminists weren’t ever “screamed at, spit on, expelled, fired, ostracized, and made into … pariah(s)?”

What sort of strange entitled bubble do you live in that you think political activism should be painless?  Or that your political opponents should simply roll over once you express your opinions?

Congratulations intellectual establishment. After around 14 years of politically correct education at politically correct institutions run by politically correct professors you have alienated me, first as a White, and secondly as a male. I have got absolutely no patience for your goddamn processes, your forms, your organizational quotas and quorums required to get approval from the UVSS. I’m fed up, and I’m going elsewhere else to self-advocate.

If you’re really serious about going “elsewhere else,” might I suggest another planet?

As market Anarchists and Libertarians constantly must remind you crypto-Marxists, if you ban something the buyer will go elsewhere in the market to get it. That’s exactly what I plan to do. Rather than grovelling at the feet of professors, academics, pseudo-intellectual social justice warriors, and Femistasi, I’m just going to go join the Western Front, a quasi-Neo-Nazi, semi-illegal White Nationalist political organization that accepts me for what I am and understands my problems. You have driven a relatively well off, intelligent, middle class, White male, who used to vote NDP, into the arms of the very people you taught me to despise for the totality of my formative years.

Great. I guess the one upside of all this is that Mr. Atheist won’t be calling feminists “feminazis” from now on. Not that “femistasi” is much of an improvement.

Oh, and in case anyone needs visual evidence of how much of a racist fuck 0bvious_Atheist really is — not that there’s much doubt — here’s a link to a cartoon he stuck onto the end of one of his recent YouTube videos. But first, a TRIGGER WARNING for really really racist rape imagery. Link.

(Note: There doesn’t seem to be any information online about a neo-Nazi group called Western Front, at least not in Canada. There was evidently one by that name in Los Angeles at one point. Does this group, like the anti-white-male oppression he talks about, exist only in 0bvious_Atheist’s head? EDITED TO ADD: There is a group called Northwest Front; presumably that’s what he meant.)

RE: cloudiah

Really appreciating some of the things you said about society changing over time. I swear, it’s like people think that humanity doesn’t change.

RE: Melissa

My point in that bit of the discussion was that that rapists don’t want to change the situation…”

So what? Slaveowners didn’t want to change the situation. They had changed forced upon them as societal mores changed. It doesn’t even require a majority of the population being in agreement (and I’m pretty sure the majority of the population aren’t rapists). The bosses didn’t want to give 8-hour work weeks or safe working conditions either; they had it forced upon them by strike and changing societal mores. (Nowadays, people would get pissed if you tried to justify children under the age of ten working; it wasn’t all that unusual a century ago.) I see no reason why rapists are just so fucking badass they can’t be subjected to the same changes in attitudes and opinions as everyone else.

You seem resigned to this goal’s failure when the laws and ideas surrounding rape have been steadily changing for years. Countries have been illegalizing marital rape since the 70s. (Yes, that’s painfully late, but still, IT IS HAPPENING.) Things are changing.

I believe things can continue changing until rape is seen just as barbaric and reprehensible as child labor.

My late cat had a tumour pressing on her bowel which required shrinking with steroids, and I was supposed to crush the tablets in a little water and syringe them into her. I didn’t even try because I like having hands. Luckily, crushing them into a small amount of Whiskas Cat Milk actually made her eat them enthusiastically. It was like some sort of kitty miracle.

I only found out a couple of years into this that it was actually a long shot and most cats wouldn’t have responded. As it was, she got an extra three years plus, and not only that but three years where I didn’t have to wrestle steroids into her every day. I don’t know what kitty crack they put in that Cat Milk, but it worked.

Happy 2013 y’all!

We have 7 hours to go here. In the meantime, I’m cooking up a storm – I made brownies, and I’m about to make some queso dip and later I’m going to make toasted ravioli, or try to sweet talk my kid into making it. I also made one of those hash brown breakfast casseroles to bake tomorrow, except mine is made with tofu instead of eggs. Someone gave my husband a bottle of Crown Royal at work which we’ll break into later and I have a bottle of Prosecco chilling.

Also, has everyone seen katz’s new Pierre,/a> cartoon? Forgive me if someone linked to it already – I’ve just now seen it.

Good morning from 2013, everyone!

Ithiliana – I lol’d about Luthien and Arwen. My Katie (who crossed over in ’09) was the same. Small, lightly built, cuddly … UNTIL TEH PILLS. Then it was claws everywhere, and she was remarkably strong for her size. One time she had to stay at the vet, so they said they’d do it. When we went back to get her our vet – macho hairy vet – stood there, arms folded, and said in his best macho voice, “You can’t tablet this cat!” It was years later that one of the guys there managed it. Whether his having really long arms helped, I don’t know, but he managed to scruff her and sneak a pill in with a pill-popper without getting savaged. We heard later from the nurses that he’d been bragging all over the place about being the only person to pill her!

Kitteh, your Katie sounds like our Jasmine. When she needed antibiotics, I made sure that she got a shot at the vets and not pills to take home, because most of the pill would have ended up rubbed into the clothes of whoever was pilling her. She became very ill in late 2009 and I knew she was feeling better when we couldn’t get her pills in her anymore.

It looks uncommonly like the past! Porridge for breakfast and Fribs indignant about being pilled. Yup, doesn’t seem very exciting. I’m asking for my money back.

Sounds like Katie and Jasmine (and Luthien and Arwen for that matter) are sisters under the fur!

One of you made a brilliant comment the other day about the way we women all come up with serious reasons to justify why we have to walk at night – coming home from work, going to school, whatever. And how it is a form of internalised misogyny. Because why do we need a reason? Men don’t justify being out after dark. They just do it.

This made me think of what Kavita Krishnan said recently, although she didn’t comment it here, of course. She said:

I believe even if women walk out on the streets alone, even if it is late at night, why should justifications need to be provided for this, like ‘she has to work late hours’ or ‘she was coming home from a BPO job or a media job’? If she simply wants to go out at night, if she wants to go out and buy a cigarette or go for a walk on the road — is this a crime for women? We do not want to hear this defensive argument that women only leave their homes for work, poor things, what can they do, they are compelled to go out. We believe that regardless of whether she is indoors or outside, whether it is day or night, for whatever reason, however, she may be dressed — women have a right to freedom. And that freedom without fear is what we need to protect, to guard and respect.

It’s a good speech.

Nathan: I can’t theorize about your friend, who I don’t know and about whom I know no specifics — so I’ll talk about myself. As a rape victim, I am overly cautious, fear going outside at night, sometimes fear going outside at all. I look over my shoulder when I’m walking the dogs at night, even though I live in a safe neighborhood, rarely go very far from my house, and try especially not to leave my yard if it’s after duck and my boyfriend’s not at home.

I know that probably none of this will keep me safe from rape (and it wouldn’t have kept me safe from rape back when I was raped), but I do it anyway because it’s an irrational symptom of being traumatized. Trauma can have strange effects on the brain. In my case, at least, cynicism and lack of faith of humanity don’t enter into it.

That and the bullshit about how it is everyone else responsibility to understand what M means instead of what M says. There is more, but I am so repulsed by the manipulative shit M has brought that I will leave it at that.

Preach. It’s the manipulative bullshit (I’m going to cry, etc.), that really turns my stomach.

@the kitteh, I know, I would vastly prefer Penny Wong for pm. Can’t believe our pm can’t screw her courage to the post and pass gay marriage. I do like the fact we have a live in unwed bloke at the lodge who is a hairdresser tho.

The bonus about Penny Wong for PM would be that Bill Heffernan’s head might finally explode!

The not passing gay marriage thing is what totally pisses me off, too. I just want to ask her WHY. If it’s her genuine belief, why? She can’t claim it on religious grounds, and I can’t fathom that she can’t see the injustice of removing the choice and attendant benefits from LGBT people that she herself enjoys. And if it’s just pandering to the right-wing religious nuts, ferchrissakes, the majority of Australians support it!

@ Nathan

No. Also, your comments here are getting pretty close to the point where my tone is going to change from friendly and helpful to fuck-off, partially because this is not your first time at the but-what-if rodeo and I have serious doubts as to whether the female friends that you keep quoting actually exist or if they’re just a socially acceptable way of making arguments that you want to make yourself but think will be shot down immediately if you do.

I will attempt a polite summary of the problem with your argument, but only once. Those “helpful” comments come from a place of assuming that men’s behavior cannot and will not be controlled, and therefore women must adapt to accommodate it, no matter how awful it gets. That’s sexism (towards both sexes actually, but women are getting the sharp end of it). It’s an argument designed to place women’s behavior under the control of the part of society that wants us quiet, compliant, and close to home at all time, living very limited lives. Where those arguments and that logic leads is to the situation that exists in Saudi Arabia. You are tacitly supporting that logic (again). Either you knock it off, or the tone in which many people respond to you here is going to get a lot less friendly really fast.

(Everyone else – sorry if I sound testy, but I am all out of patience with the faux-naive but maybe this isn’t actually sexism it’s just … arguments, especially coming from commenters who’ve been treading on thin ground over and over again.)

Thanks kitteh, hellkat, etc 🙂 . I can’t believe our pm bends to the troglodytes on gay marriage, they are never going to vote for her anyway. I don’t know if you remember, it was before even my voting time, but in south aus we had a left wing premier called don dunstan. He stated very clearly that sometimes the role of govt is to educate the people about what is right and fair, not waiting for public opinion. Which is why south aus had some of the most progressive laws on homosexuality and drug use is aus for many years. Guess what the sky didn’t fall!

Also, what Bee said (more politely than me), and what Some Gal said. Those tips? They completely ignore the fact that most women are raped not by strangers, but by people they know. Part of the purpose of the tips is to politely shift social attention away from that uncomfortable fact. Which is part of the reason I do not have the patience to be polite about this.
