Advocating violence is allegedly against the rules in the Men’s Rights subreddit. Just don’t tell it to these guys! (Or the people upvoting them.)
As I’ve noted before, Demonspawn is fairly regular violator of this particular rule — as evidenced here, here, and, oh yeah, here. (And check the archives for even more Demonspawn terribleness that stops short of advocacy of murder.)
When I asked the r/mensrights mods some months back why they didn’t just ban him for his repeated violations, you may recall, this happened:
Hey, Mens Rightsers, if you don’t want to be associated with violence, perhaps you should, you know, disassociate yourself from those who advocate violence — seriously, repeatedly, and definitely not as a joke.
If you’re referring to books, I’m a little upset that Emilie Autumn’s is full glossy pages, it still doesn’t smell like a proper book (and I’m really wary what I’ll think when I finally get to open my iPad). I mean, I see your point about mass production of literature and the correlation to literacy rates, but sometimes you just want a book that smells like a book *sniffs the Hobbit*
Yeah, I’m weird, but you knew that 🙂
Thinks: must check those ridiculously expensive commercial shipping reference books at work tomorrow. For that money I’d want stitching! 😀
Speaking of books and their odours, I had one once that stank like … gah, some sort of bad cheese or something. It reeked. I’m presuming it was the glue. I ended up turfing it. No loss, it was a horrible thing to read anyway – a Freudian with an empathy fail writing 17th century biography ::shudder:: .
Thankfully I’ve never had a book that smelt bad, and for the cost of reference books you don’t want stitching, it’s far more fragile.
Curious – I’ve never had stitched books fall to bits, but glued ones, plenty.
Dinner, be back soon!
Well, my books only fall apart when I abuse them, so it doesn’t happen much (and it’s always the cheapest ones, thankfully)
Enjoy dinner!
Argenti: Books that aren’t stitched are, “perfect bound” (why yes, my family has owned a bookstore since 1984)
“why yes, my family has owned a bookstore since 1984” — some part of my brain is going “you knew that dummy”
Why then is it that perfect bound book sometimes decide to spit out whole glued sections? I mean, I’ve only had this happen when I break the spine at the beginning/end of one such section, but still, doesn’t seem terribly “perfect” to me! (Or is this more perfect as in “Latin has a plu-perfect tense”?)
Or imperfect bound when the pages fall out! 😛
I’m really curious to have a look at the making of the commercial shipping books now. We’re talking $450 a hit here.
Ninja’d!
I should go back to my ninja avatar, then you’d have been ninja’ed by a ninja 😀
‘Cept I like being the Cheshire Cat.
Ninjas squared! 😀
I really like the kitty avatars, though I always got yours and Dracula’s mixed up. Mine’s Miss Mads with her smug face on.
Smug kitteh is most kittehs…and where is Dracula these days anyways?
True about the kittehs!
I don’t know where Dracula is, he hasn’t been on site for ages.
Maybe he’s like beetlejuice —
Dracula! Dracula! Dracula! *sits and waits*
Well that burned off a coupla calories – chasing “catch me if you can” cat.
Hi, Tony! I knew that the MRM would end up melding with Timecube eventually.
I just Googled Timecube. The RationalWiki article on it is priceless, especially the Crackpot Overdose section. Defnitely an MRM parallel! 😀
I…what….o.O?!? *hed esplodes*
Just when you think you’ve heard every illogical theory out there, someone comes along and makes a timecube. (Oh gods, I am so saving that line, it’s too perfect…right up there with my brother’s “every time I walk in the room you have the microwave set on high!”)
Microwave set on high? Whut?
I don’t know if my duct tape can take tha…
::clunk::
Lol, I have no idea where he got it from, but it’s his favorite thing to say when my father and I are screaming at each other (well, raised voice on my part, when I scream everyone within a hundred yards can hear it)
LOL well it kind of makes sense as a metaphor!
Uncyclopedia did a decent parody. Needs more blinking gifs, though.
