Contraceptives make us all passive-aggressive arguers, says passive-aggressive arguer

Not the original caption, alas. Borrowed from The Mangina Monologues. (Click the pic to see the original post.)

Apparently, using contraceptives turns couples into The Lockhorns. Or so this post from CL on Complementarian Loners suggests:

Contraception reduces sex to recreation – ‘fun’ without the deep joy that a mindfully lived life can bring – and thus this percolates through the relationship as a whole. All those little jabs at each other, the passive-aggressive ways of letting the other know that you are hurting, and the hiding are part of this mentality. We’ve all done it, just as most of us have contracepted.

I’m sure many people will think this a stretch, but when we withhold something as central as our fertility from each other, what else do we withhold? Self-censored thought is like contraceptive sex. Married couples are often reluctant to be completely honest with each other and are apt to become defensive with each other, ending up – or even starting out – as adversaries rather than team mates. Since the so-called sexual revolution (think about that term for a moment), women and men have not needed each other the way they used to. Separating sexual intercourse from procreation has also separated us from each other – and from our essential selves – in a real way.

Yeah, it’s probably better for married couples to eschew contraception entirely and have eight gazillion children. And then get a reality show.

I don’t think we’re ALL emotionally vulnerable and mentally disturbed. Just me. 🙂

No, no, we must all be – why else would a man bother talking to us (even online and across a few stray continents and oceans)?

You really have to wonder how they square the idea that God is so horrified by non-procreative sex with the idea that God made humans to enjoy sex regardless of its procreative potential. Why not make us like most female mammals–utterly uninterested in sex except during the fertile phase of our cycle?

Intelligent Design!

@Kittehs’

I do! 😀 But then I have Nightmare Fetishist tendencies.

Eldritch multicockbeasts aren’t included in that though.

I forgot who asked the question, but there have been a couple of Man Boobz meetups — in Toronto, in Boston, and I think another place or two. None in Chicago, though, because I’m a terrible organizer.

Nice! I should try to remember to pay more attention to the forum, because I’d totally try to come to a Boston meetup if another one happened. (I’d come to a Kansas City meetup, too, but there seem to be a lot more Boston-area Manboobzers than KC-area Manboobzers, so that one’s probably less likely to happen.)

CWS – I’ve had a few Lovecraftian fantasies, I admit, but they all depended on subsituting his heroes for one of my own! 😀

Ditto about no eldritch multicockbeasts being included, though.

Which of the Old Ones (?) was it that was a sort of giant jelly bag with lots of eyes? I’m imagining the EM being a sort of penile version of that.

Ewwww.

It’s all the Kittehs’ Unpaid Help’s fault that I am still wandering round the house doing the world’s worst Inigo Montoya impression:

“Guano galore ….. ” clears throat, lowers voice “Guano galore ” (and repeat)

@The Kitteh’s Unpaid Help:

*Do they think killing women and children is actually murder, since they don’t see anyone as white straight men as human?

When I was growing up in the MRA household, I was always firmly taught the difference in the words used:

“A famous person or leader is ‘assassinated’. A man or boy is ‘murdered’. A woman, girl, animal or plant is ‘killed’.”

I had those three sentences indoctrinated into me – and if I EVER made the mistake of saying a man was killed or messing up the three in any way, WOW was I lectured on maintaining the correct distinctions.

So, no, unless the child in question is male, then killing women and children does not count as murder.

Yes, that’s pretty much what I thought it’d be, Rahu. They’re even more shameless about the whole thing than I thought.

I wonder if they think bestiality should be legal? Because, y’know, they like shoving it into women and children and we’re not human.

Our seventh grade teacher taught that dinosaurs never existed, and the dinosaur fossils in museums are actually pig bones.

Well, that didn’t embed so well. It’s a four-second montage of David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor saying “What?” in a variety of interesting ways.

@Kitteh

I’m not familiar with Lovecraft; I have issues with his writing style.

Mine tend to lean towards the possession/body-swapping/transforming into an abomination and Affront To All That Is Right. But, y’know, consensual possession, body-swapping, and horrifying transformations.

These guys have a special place in my… well, ‘heart’ isn’t really the right word here…

Ozy – I bet they make an exception for sticking your dick in crazy if they think they’d manage it. After all sticking your dick in matters more than anything in the history of the universe ever.

After all that, I think a dose of Maru is called for.

And I’m wondering whether there’s a word for having sex with plants.

CWS – I read a fair bit of Lovecraft and some Clark Ashton Smith during my teens. It’s been a long while since I looked at them, and I don’t think I’d be rapt in their styles now, either. My imaginings tended to be lifted straight from the stories – Horrible Death Of Main Character stuff, but substituting generalised 1920s type blokes with long-haired-feminine-1970s type blokes. (Hey, this was when I was a teen!)

Well, CL is apparently unwilling to come back to the thread and explain the whole NFP thing for us, because we’re a tiresome and juvenile lot. So I hope you’re all happy!

PS: David the “eldritch multicockbeast”? Funniest thing I’ve heard today 😀

Hey, long-haired with beautiful eyes is pretty much the closest to me having a ‘type’, physically speaking. Beyond that it’s all personality. And willingness to listen to my fantasies of taking their body for a ride, with or without them in it. 😛

That’s it for me, too! Do you use the Man Boobz forum? (This is a relevant question, believe it or not.)

Whee, we’re tiresome and juvenile according to CL! Cool! 😀

Ahahahaha, that “Men’s Rights Power List” is hilarious. He goes from completely missing the point of Manboobz (Note, Mr. TheAntifeminist, that the header says “Misogyny,” not “MRAs.” You guys aren’t all the misogynists by a long shot.) and complaining that David quotes people who aren’t MRAs to TheAmazingTriggering(Male)RapeVictimsForFunAndProfitAtheist to “Not an MRA, but still” Heartiste to the HyperNeckbeard who wrote this pile of balderdash to Eivind fucking Berge.

Quite a movement you’ve got there, champ.

Oh, and it gets better! He has a post dedicated to defaming David here (TW for an image of what appears to be an aborted fetus); it’s exactly as full of lies and hypocrisy as you’d expect.

It’s strange how acceptable MRAs find lying about a man if he disagrees with their agenda. Could it be……..misandry?
