I’m in Philly and there is this feeling of doom around here. Right now some rain and wind but nothing serious but we are expected to get absolutely mauled tomorrow and Tuesday. What everybody is worried about is the power lines, cause God only knows how long it will take to get the power back when a few of them go down.

Stay safe, everyone in the Northeast. I can give you all sorts of advice on how to survive an F5, but it probably wouldn’t help much for a hurricane. So my more generalized advice will be to stay strong, follow any evacuation orders, and if possible, buy a NOAA weather radio to get updates from the National Weather Service. Get batteries to back it up, too. If you have a cell phone, download the emergency apps and buy a battery powered phone charger.

Well, Otis, I hope you stay safe even though you are a racist a-hole. I have family and friends in New Haven and on Long Island, which are also projected to get slammed pretty hard.

I have faith that people will be just fine as long as they avoid doing anything stupid. 🙂

I’m not in New Jersey… because we aren’t being allowed to leave. So the singing and the whisky are going round, and we are having a gay old time. The hotel was robbed; no one was hurt at the desk.

And the singing and the whisky are going round.

People are being supportive of each other, and the best is being made of inconvenience and those of us who can’t get home will worry about damage, etc. later.

Because there are friends, and whisky and chocolate and songs.

Im doing Nano this year, but I havent figured out what Im going to write about.
Current ideas are a) two feral children who were saved from their kidnappers by the boogyman have to decide what to do when he comes back.
B) A young trans boy attempts to be stealth at an all boys school, as told by his elder brother.
c) A teenager stuck in bed one summer with mono is looked after by his neighbour – who is discovered to be Lucifer, retired from hell amd teaching violin.

Manboobzers! Which would you want to read?

It’s called NaNoWriMo! (Or, the month people cram-write novels)

No, the name of the thread you started!

@ WeeBoy: I would most likely read C. The mere thought of Lucifer being retired and teaching violin puts a smile on my face. 🙂

@ SBR: Did you find it under the Manboobz forum?

WeeBoy, I vote C. Sounds entertaining.

Thirded, C sounds interesting.

Given I’m getting a 100% vote for C everywhere I ask, I guess I’m doing that one. This will thus be my fourth year of doing Nano novels that involve angels, fallen and otherwise. (The only year I won was 2010, when I wrote about God sending an angel to play fullblack for the All Blacks during the 2011 World Cup.)

The Kittehs' Unpaid Help

Since this is an open thread and the forums have been mentioned – and I hope it’s okay to ask here – how long does it generally take to get a yea or nay to joining the private threads?

Since this is an open thread – does anyone use the chat thingy on the forums?

The Kittehs' Unpaid Help

I haven’t, yet. Is it just me, or are the forums been pretty quiet at the moment? I’ve only recently started looking at them. (But I did the important bit: posted kitty pics!)

@Kim

Ozy in particular used to be around on chattybox every now and then, but basically, no.

@Kittehhelp

I haven’t been let into the private bit yet either. MisOzry! I think the forum’s lack of activity has a lot to do with a lot of the old guard who kept the fora alive leaving in mass exodus over Reasons a couple of months back.

The Kittehs' Unpaid Help

“MisOzry!”

LOL we’ve definitely got to incorporate that word somehow. Like all them furriners having the cheek to be in different time zones (behind the times, except the Kiwis) just to muck us about. 😛

And fancy them having lives to live, I dunno, hard to get good help …

Hopefully this will work, this song has been playing on repeat in my mind a lot recently:
[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fkYd8BKtIpY&w=560&h=315%5D
I think mostly the “it’s hard to dance/with the devil on your back/so shake him off” makes me think of a friend who’s been feeling down for a long time now. It’s also nice to dance to.
