Just a quick update on pledge week, the most important part of which is: THANKS! I’m impressed with your generosity, and grateful for the support. Every donation makes a difference.
If you haven’t yet donated, and want to, or you’ve already donated but suddenly decided that I need even more of your money, here’s the magic button:
Special commendation to the people of Australia for going above and beyond the call of duty. I had no idea I had so many readers down there. Good on ya!
I’m hoping that’s something that people actually say in Australia on a regular basis, not just something that American jackasses like me picked up from Crocodile Dundee.
Oh, and in other news: Pictures of adorable baby animals improve your productivity!
A team of researchers at Hiroshima University recently conducted a study where they showed university students pictures of baby animals before completing various tasks. What they found, in research published today, was that those who saw the baby animal pictures did more productive work after seeing those photographs – even more than those who saw a picture of an adult animal or a pleasant food.
So presumably the following pictures will make you the most productive people on planet earth.
Hmmm.. perhaps xkcd needs to revise their graph? http://xkcd.com/231/
Third picture: Someone genetically engineered a 6-headed hydra-kitty?!
Why were studies like these never being done when I was in college? When I participated in studies it was always more like the Duncan principle.
Getting your kitteh cute in bulk is economical *and* environmentally responsible.
*nodnod*
hey hey hey
hey
I’m eating a fluffernutter sandwich with bunny grahams and premium milk chocolate chunks on a farmer’s market fresh challah roll.
…
It’s awesome.
@inurashii
So jealous :o~~
Well that got borked.
Grumpy cat is adorable:
@Noadi – that graph is perfect! I lol’d. And it gets illustrated every day in my house. “You’re a pussycat, you are.” “You’re a cat. You’re definitely a cat.” Etc …
There’s a real catch to that productivity thing, though. It assumes one looks at pictures of cute baby animals and then stops, and does other stuff. That’s not how it works in my office! 😛
Thanks for the kitties – I need all of them today to do anything productive at work. 🙂 Cause I forgot to take my meds last night. Could youse tell? 😉
Well, even going just by commenter numbers, and I imagine a few Aussies might be put off by timezone differences, we’ve quite a few Aussies commenters here – BigMomma, fenriswolf, kittehhelp, magpie and myself come to mind.
Best of luck with making money and having adorable kitties!
In other cat news: Bored of my catvatar now! Changing back to the other one.
*Activate de-cat mode*
(Technically, in a roundabout way, my D&D one is cat-related.. in that the character Shade had a panther for an animal companion).
BORED by CATS?
I am shocked, shocked! *clutches pearl necklace*
