US Army Brig. General charged with rape. Who’s to blame? According to The Spearhead, it’s women.

NOTE: Man Boobz Pledge Week Continues! Big giant thanks to everyone who has donated!

If you haven’t yet, and want to, here’s the button you’re looking for:

A Brigadier General in the US Army has been charged with rape. Well, actually, Brig. General Jeffrey Sinclair has been charged with a veritable laundry list of offenses, as set forth in an Army press  release, among them

forcible sodomy, wrongful sexual conduct, attempted violation of an order, violations of regulations by wrongfully engaging in inappropriate relationships and misusing a government travel charge card, violating general orders by possessing alcohol and pornography while deployed, maltreatment of subordinates, filing fraudulent claims, engaging in conduct unbecoming an officer and a gentleman and engaging in conduct prejudicial to good order and discipline, or of a nature to bring discredit upon the armed forces.

While details are still sketchy, the charges apparently involve misconduct with several female subordinates.

Over on The Spearhead, W.F. Price bravely takes on the real villain here: women. Apparently their mere presence in the Armed Forces is enough to provoke male soldiers and generals alike to rape them and, while they’re at it, to buy booze and porn, mistreat their subordinates and rack up unauthorized purchases on government issued charge cards.  In a post with the title “How’s that Women in the Military Thing Going Now?” Price gets right to the heart of the matter:

I suspect that the more combat-oriented environment an environment is in the military, the more likely these problems with women are to come about. For one thing, fighting men are more passionate by nature, and then there’s the fact that these men also turn women on more.

Yes, because when male soldiers rape female soldiers, the problem lies with woman in uniform getting “turned on” by men in uniform.

A forward base in hostile territory is not likely to have the same atmosphere as an assignment stateside. The sense of danger actually tends to make people more sexually charged, or so I’ve heard from those who survived battles and sieges on the Eastern Front in WWII, where female-operated AA batteries behind the front lines became de-facto brothels.

Of course, male soldiers are also known to rape civilian women, so by Price’s logic women should neither serve in the military, nor not serve in the military. In times of war, they should just do all us dudes a favor and cease to exist at all.

If not, well, women just need to face up to the danger of “hanky panky” that their mere existence creates:

[O]ur personnel are serving in a remote Muslim country with no access to local females to speak of, and things are bound to happen. As to whether Sinclair “forced” anything on anybody, we don’t know at this point, and it seems unlikely, but it isn’t surprising at all that some forbidden hanky-panky may have occurred.

At this point, virtually all we know about the alleged crimes here is contained in that laundry list of charges I posted above. Yet someone Price is able to deduce that Sinclair is likely to be innocent here. Evidently Price is convinced that anyone who is a “real combat general” and who has “earned a number of awards related to combat arms and parachuting” is someone who is to be implicitly trusted.

In the comments, the Spearhead regulars offer their own unique takes on the issues of women in the military.

Keyster seems to dream of a day when women can not only be kicked out of the military but also out of pretty much everything else as well, except presumably the kitchen:

It’s not safe to work or serve with women.

The potential for trouble is way too high.

Once they invaded the workplace the last vestige of male only space was the military. Now even this is no longer true. I don’t know where men can go and work with other men without female interference anymore. Even if you own your own business, the government forces you to hire them…and invest in all manner of special female accommodations, like breast pumping stations and tampon dispensors.

Ironically the safest “male only” space is a Gay Bar. And even then curious women wander in to meddle and cause disruption.

Numnut drops some biotruths on us all:

Appears women are very horny once a month and will have sex with the most aggressive male available to them at that time. This re-enforces the “thinking with the vagina” theme that a women herself espoused.

Now that the lawz have given wymyn free pass to act out their base animals nature,no man is safe from the Whiplash regret post-sex.(ref to OT)

No doubt these milfem cursors were ovulating and thinking with the gash when they asked to be screwed.

The proper thing for the law to do is recognize this animal instinct and either regulate wymyns behaviors of legalize male sexuality again.

Women want it both ways,a rough man for sex,and prison for rough men.

Jean Valjean hopes that this case will help to expose women for being the filthy sluts they really are:

The question on my mind is will this man fight the charges and reveal the sexual nature of many women in the military or will he go meekly to his fate?

A commenter with the highly ironic name Reality offers up this bit of secondhand shitthatneverhappened.txt.

There was a guy who had been in the military who told me that in actual warfare when the bombs start dropping & the gunfire starts coming at them in an actual combat situation, women just throw down their guns and start running screaming like they would do any other situation.

We’re doomed. All so we can pretend ‘women are just the same as women’ [sic] – that’s more important to all these idiots that run this country & half the idiot population than the security of the country. It’s that way in any situation in life- this political correctness & diversity shit is becomes more important than success, life or death- you name it. In that sense it’s like drugs or alcohol addiction – you throw away your whole life for this one stupid, trivial thing.

Equality: Stupid and Trivial.

I learn new things every time I read The Spearhead.

For some actual facts on the epidemic of rape in the military see:

Lol, those medals are handed out by the PC police who run the army.

Lol, the U.S. Army is run by the PC police. That’s rich.

Everybody who has served in either Iraq or Afghanistan can tell you plenty of stories of how useless female soldiers are.

Everybody? You’ve done surveys? Taken polls? Done a census? Seems unlikely. More likely, the sexist culture in which we live decides that one or two instances of incompetent women soldiers must reflect on the whole gender, whereas the incompetent male soldiers are simply deemed bad soldiers without the additional burden of having to stand in for their entire gender.

They can’t even protect themselves from getting raped by guys in their own unit, let alone face an armed enemy.

So being betrayed by your fellow soldiers is evidence of your weakness? Does that mean all those officers who got fragged by their inferiors in Vietnam are evidence that men were just useless soldiers?

Do you understand the concept of a surprise attack at all?

Just last week there was a situation on the Egyptian/Israeli border where one of those supposedly tough female soldiers immediately ran and hid once a firefight broke out, causing a (male, ofcourse) soldier to get killed.

If female soldiers are so universally incompetent, why is that news? Why are they used at all? Note again how you decide that this story reflects on all female soldiers, but the countless stories of male cowardice throughout history somehow don’t count against the gender as a whole.

(I really hope the quoting works…)

Alex:

Let’s not compare MRAs to the mentally ill please? For one thing, douchebaggery can’t just be explained away with mental illness, and for another, I really wouldn’t want MRAs to be in the same as people who already have serious psychological issues. They don’t need MRA bullshit.

You are absolutely right, and I apologize.

My intent was not to say that they were mentally ill, but needed confinement for the good of the rest of humanity. Hence my (mis)quoting of that scene near the beginning of Batman Begins right before Bruce Wayne meets Henry Ducard. I shouldn’t have used the straight jacket.

I was trying to be partly facetious, too.

I’m sorry.

“Let’s not compare MRAs to the mentally ill please?”

Ok, we’ll add that to THE LIST OF THINGS YOU CAN’T SAY ON MANBOOBZ:

Don’t suggest MRAs are depressed, or sociopaths, or narcissists, because that is making internet diagnoses and those are bad.

Don’t speculate on anyone’s gender unless they’re a troll Gametime doesn’t like because that is bad.

Don’t suggest MRAs have been victimized by sexual assault because that makes victims of sexual assault look bad.

Don’t suggest men and women have biological differences because that is bad.

Don’t say there aren’t a lot of bisexual virgins because that is THE EXACT SAME THING as saying there are no bisexual virgins and that is bad.

Oh, but it is ok to make fun of Chaz Bono because he once said something bad about women.

I’m really tired of the holier than thou, sanctimonious, self righteous attitudes some of you have. It must be nice being so fucking perfect all of the time. You are all so eager to argue with trolls that you criticize and jump all over anyone who so much as leans over the strict PC line you have running here. Look how you jumped all over Nathan just now. Fortunately he quickly groveled and apologized so maybe you won’t make an outcast of him (like Ruby) just yet. But he better watch his ass. I swear I’ve never had to apologize so much in my life. I mispeak or choose the wrong word and I’ve got the horde breathing down my neck telling me what a shitty person I am.

So I’m not coming here anymore. It’s not fun anymore. I may lurk but I won’t post anymore because I don’t want to be attacked for every fucking thing I say. Some of y’all need to lighten the fuck up.

Wow… I’m glad these guys sorted it out for me! My hip injury didn’t make unsuitable for further military service. It was my fragile feminine psyche and raging lunar cycle lady hormones that did it! Well, if y’all will excuse me, I must go and notify the Department of the Army that some people on the internet said that they incorrectly gave me a medical discharge. Those colonels who conducted my physical evaluations obviously didn’t know shit. And the VA will be glad that they can stop my disability payments, too. Thank goodness this charade will finally be over!

[/sarcasm]

@drst – I didn’t see if anyone answered this one already, but the US Army has very strict policies against fraternization. My now husband was three pay grades above me while I was enlisted, and we decided to wait until I got out before we pursued anything more than a friendship. Neither of us were keen on having the Uniform Code of Military Justice have it’s way with our sorry butts.

Anyone know what this story is Trollypants McTroll is talking about? Is it an actual thing or is it just said troll misunderstanding (possibly willfully) the concept of “taking cover”?

@Fembot,

Uhh…kay. First off, I was the only person who said anything to Nathan, so he wasn’t exactly jumped on. Secondly, I’m pretty sure I said it as non-confrontationally as I could have. Third, there have been times (on other sites) where I’ve been called out for things too; I try to learn something from those times. Fourth, I’ve only seen you get called out once and I usually enjoy your comments, so I’d be sad to see you leave. Finally, I’m sorry for adding to your feeling of commenting not being fun; wasn’t my intention I assure you.

Also Ruby said some pretty disgusting things that she fully meant without any regard for who might be hurt by them. I wouldn’t compare you or Nathan to her based on any of your comments, so I’m confused as to why you would.

They can’t even protect themselves from getting raped by guys in their own unit, let alone face an armed enemy.

Explain to us exactly why it is that women are not only expected to do their jobs they also have the added duty of protecting themselves from the people who are expected to have their back during a fight?

And when did “raping a fellow soldier” ever become a legitimate action by a soldier?

Just last week there was a situation on the Egyptian/Israeli border where one of those supposedly tough female soldiers immediately ran and hid once a firefight broke out, causing a (male, ofcourse) soldier to get killed.

Considering the news reports from the IDF, it appears he was killed because of the fact that terrorists were shooting at him and one of them set off a bomb. Not quite the “oh it was all the ladies that were not standing and fighting’s fault.”

You should probably check thing like the facts before making claims.

Why are they used at all?

Because Israel is even more of a PC shit hole than the US is. It also was founded on a socialist ethos which insist women can serve in combat roles. Haven’t you ever seen those pictures of Israeli girls in uniform walking around with guns looking totally clueless? It’s a huge part of the faux egiltarianism the country tries to project.

If female soldiers are so universally incompetent, why is that news?

Because the commanders of every Western military do everything they can to keep female combat troops out of actual combat. There is a reason that Israel posts their female troops on the border with Egypt: because until last week there was never any fighting there. The last thing they wanted was to see their girl soldiers proven to be a total liability.

So being betrayed by your fellow soldiers is evidence of your weakness?

If you are too weak to defend yourself, then yes. If women are equal to men why can’t they defend themselves from getting raped? How come men never need to worry about getting raped by women?

princessbonbon

Especially since one of the women there actually took out a terrorist before he could set off his bomb.

princessbonbon

There is a reason that Israel posts their female troops on the border with Egypt: because until last week there was never any fighting there.

That is not true. There was an attack on June 18, and one more serious attack in August of 2011.

If women are equal to men why can’t they defend themselves from getting raped?

Why do they have to in the first place? A soldier is suppose to be protecting his or her’s fellow unit members, not attacking them.

<blockquote How come men never need to worry about getting raped by women?

Because society refuses to acknowledge men can be raped by women. Duh.

What type of military action do the MRAs think happens, bayonet charges? http://www.the-spearhead.com/2012/09/27/hows-that-women-in-the-military-thing-going-now/#comment-169113 Or does he think that they’re situated in trenches opposite each other? Even just restricting the ambit of warfare to ground-based, artillery and air firepower, etc, has meant that the concept of “front lines” is out-dated by … 95 years or so. And I’m also ignoring infiltration, just to keep the point relatively simple.

@Otis,

“Because Israel is even more of a PC shit hole than the US is.”

Mention how maybe Israel should let Palestinians have the 20% of historic Palestine they’re asking for and see how “PC” a response you get.

“If women are equal to men why can’t they defend themselves from getting raped?”

Someone doesn’t know how power dynamics work.

“How come men never need to worry about getting raped by women?”

Men do get raped by women, actually.

Oh, you’re melting down now? Awesome, I can stop giving you the benefit of the doubt.

Here’s how it is: You got called out for saying something shitty. Sometimes that sucks! It feels pretty lousy when you get called out for saying shitty things. I should know – it’s certainly happened to me enough times.

Fucking deal with it.

When you go off on whiny, passive-aggressive rants about how haaaard it is that we won’t let people get away with ableist bullshit or gender-policing bullshit or whatever kind of bullshit you feel like peddling, you are choosing to privilege your sense of dignity over the real, measurable oppressions that other people have to deal with every fucking day. You are saying to everyone “I am so important that even criticizing me is worse than anything I might possibly have said.”

And you have the gall to call us sanctimonious? Whatever, duder.

Oh, and please don’t try to drag Nathan into your petulant little crusade. He, unlike you, can apparently take criticism without flipping the fuck out, because he, unlike you, seems like a pretty chill person. Please do try to drag Ruby into it, because I look forward to you furiously backpeddling once you bother to look up the ignorant, hateful shit she’s spewed here in the past.

Hugs and kisses,

I never saw combat, but my husband did tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. He worked in an aviation unit that had about a 60:40 male to female ratio. His base was under fire a few times. He’s not one to mince words, so I’m pretty sure I would have heard stories about almost half the unit collapsing into the vapors the moment the RPG’s started coming across the perimeter. He’s out of town on business, or I’d ask him right now.

(And thanks, Pam – I missed that on the first reading).

Don’t say there aren’t a lot of bisexual virgins because that is THE EXACT SAME THING as saying there are no bisexual virgins and that is bad.

Oh, but it is ok to make fun of Chaz Bono because he once said something bad about women.

1. Well, yeah, suggesting surviving sexual assault turns people into misogynistic dickbags would seem to dispose people toward looking badly on people who have survived sexual assault, and begin waiting for and expecting them to start being misogynistic dickbags. Also? MRAs don’t need another stick to attack women with, and giving them an opening to say, “I’m an MRA, therefore a woman sexually assaulted me!” and play the victim is bad.

2. Who said that? Of course men and women have biological differences. That doesn’t mean a woman who can do a job should be prevented from doing that job because other women can’t, and most men can.

3. Who said that?

4. I missed Chaz Bono. Was that recent?

Also, Ruby has been ostracized for valid reasons. One of them was that she suggested people who commit rape should themselves be raped, and she said she found that hilarious.
