antifeminism kitties manginas men who should not ever be with women ever misogyny MRA neckbeard rights oppressed men penises reddit vaginas

The Men”s Rights subreddit weighs in on the “Why is Reddit So Anti-Woman?” debate.

Over on AskReddit, someone called 478nist has asked a question that has been puzzling a lot of us for some time: “Why is Reddit so anti-women? (outside of r/gonewild anyway).”

I used to think it was just because the large majority of users are men, but it’s not pro-men it’s becoming more and more anti-women.

Outside of the friendzoned crap, any comment that leans towards any kind of talk of womens issues, equal rights etc gets downvoted to hell so it’s not even capable of being discussed. It seems like it’s an US vs THEM mentality more and more. Was it always like this?

The thread that followed is nearly 2000 comments long, so far, and has gotten written up on TheAtlanticWire. The discussion is surprisingly … good? Not perfect — after all, this is Reddit we’re talking about here — but not terrible.

So naturally our friends in the Men’s Rights subreddit are complaining about it.

The legendary AnthonyZarat offers this thought:

MauraLoona, meanwhile, challenges the premise of 478nist’s question, and thereby challenges reality itself:

Legitimateusername also has a problem with Reddit’s alleged surplus of manginas.

Fuckrpolitics_again just goes with some plain old-fashioned misogyny:

The Men’s Rights subreddit, such a reliable generator of self-righteous poop.

David can edit existing posts right? I think that’s probably the only way this will get fixed.

Notice how Steele avoided narrowly dealing with anything substantive I’ve said!

you say that like it’s something new, you vile crypto-marxist slanderer.

Steele, I am going to explain something to you. And as it’s rather key to understanding the conversation (for lack of a better term) that we Manboobzers have been having with you on this thread, I want you to pay attention.

NONE OF US THINK THAT MEN SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR EVERYTHING WHEN THEY GO ON A DATE WITH A WOMAN.

NONE OF US THINK THAT THE SOCIETAL PRESSURE FOR MEN TO PAY FOR DATES IS A GOOD THING.

I’m sorry to go all Caps Lock of Doom like that, but I seriously don’t know how else to get this through to you.

Excuse me? Cliff was justifying the misandrous practice that forces MEN to subsidize their partners. Try again, sir.

What kind of dates do you go on that paying for them is a serious chunk of a serious expense, like rent?

And I must get back to my job now; wish you all could say the same.

Which lets us know that in addition to being a racist and misogynist, Steelepole is also against the poor. Quelle surprise. You do realize there are indeed poor men, even though the poor are disproportionately women, right?

NONE OF US THINK THAT THE SOCIETAL PRESSURE FOR MEN TO PAY FOR DATES IS A GOOD THING.

I think it’s neutral, while men on average make more and spend less in preparation for the date itself.

Also, ‘power lunch’ is almost as hilariously pretentious as ‘cash reserves’. Dude, there’s a reason you aren’t a writer, and misandry it ain’t.

On my power break, I just want to get in on the boldness explosion. Nothing to add.

Also, I laugh in the general direction of Steele for deliberately ignoring everything anyone says that proves he’s wrong, and then spouting on about how we’re all vile evil disgusting misandrist feminists because no one listens to hiiiiiiiiim 🙁

“fun fact, keeping up with what internet misogynists want to do to women is actually an important part of my job.” -Sharculese

!!! o.0
That sounds awesome/profit??/exciting. Hopefully you’ll never need to put your knowledge to use in the wake of some tragedy.

So Sharculese, what IS your job, that such a task is considered part of it?

Maybe some sort of law enforcement, which I’m wanting to be nosey about, but S. didn’t offer at this point. I’m curious to know who is taking interest, hopefully the FBI, and it’s nice to know there are such sharp witty people with that outfit if so. They do great profiling for murderers, I know that. S. might be like, “darn I opened that can now”… heh. Sorry.

pecunium — ah, a speed demon and imp of “I know what I was writing” — that explains everything! (glad you got the joke, I seem to have just been a wealth of bad jokes last night >.<)

howardbann1ster — oh great, you broke the page. Good news is kirbywarp did this once already, and the next page of comments wasn’t broken, so we just need to get onto a new page and it should go away. (Breaking the whole page is the worst manifestation of the usually harmless typo faerie btw)

Argenti–you mean for once in my life my policy of ‘just keep talking, it’ll get better’ MIGHT ACTUALLY WORK??

Well, that? THAT? That I can do. 😛

right now im doing reproductive rights/justice work with a social media component. keeping track of how internet spaces treat women isn’t exactly central (okay, ‘important part’ was an exaggeration), but a lot of it is relevant. (and in particular im interested in making places like reddit more female friendly)

it also means i have to read lifenews every day, which.. is not fun, but very useful

I didn’t have a power lunch. I had a cafeteria taco. It was exceptionally un-food-like. Honestly it was more of a disempower lunch.

Even though my boyfriend bought me dinner two weeks ago, the cafeteria charged me for it! And my boyfriend doesn’t even give me an allowance so I had to pay with money from my job! The NERVE! So of course I threw my taco in the cashier’s face and walked right out. LIKE A BOSS.

Perhaps we should all point out that misandry isn’t a thing so that Steele will ignore all of us! Although somehow, I think that only works for teh menz.

S. that sounds like thorough reproductive rights work, which we really need desperately as you know. I’m going to be moving to South Dakota the first week of October. You might now of their laws and RR record. Disgraceful. My hat is off to you and if you need any help, IDK what really but who knows… let me know.

Steele, Cliff said that it can be normal that the richest person pays more things to the other. You said the same fucking thing. You have literally zero reason to be mad.

You should realize that we take you less seriously each time you use ‘vile’ or ‘disgusting’. And we weren’t starting high either. i know you can’t write because a woman told you boys can’t write, but please learn to use a synonym dictionary. And stop the full-rage mode, reading you feel like reading an all-caps text and or text where each sentence ends with a ‘!’. People stop caring about your yelling after a while, and it sounds fake because if you were half as mad as you’re pretending to be you would be long gone.

While my dad was dying of cancer (died quickly last week) local women swooped in and took care of him for months and personally paid to have the house remolded including a new floor for the entire house, appliances, etc. My dad’s nephew had lived with him for a long while and ruined the place, they took pictures in case he contests the will etc, and they were telling me that they are sure what he did contributed to my father’s demise.

These were all WOMEN that dumped a wheelbarrow full of money and resources on some guy they hardly knew. So Steele how in the world does that fit in to your idealogue mind? Reality must be like a gulp of castor oil to you.

These misandrist women were mean to this poor mean! (Reality is not a problem that really bother MRAs. They just try to avoid to think about it)
