Yep, that’s right, the “clopping” sound of high heels are a form of “street harassment.” I found the screenshot above on a promising new blog you can find at MensRightsActivism.com. Yep, that’s right. Evidently it never occurred to anyone in the Men’s Rights movement to lock down that domain name.
Oh, this little Reddit screenshot is good too:
How exactly does saying “consent is sexy” mean that male consent is taken for granted? How is it that 59 people thought that comment deserved an upvote?
I can’t answer either question, but there’s lots more hilarious and appalling stuff where that came from, mostly from the Men’s Rights subreddit. It’s going in the “antidotes to boobery” blog roll.
“Ok… I understand what’s being said, and I agree with that aspect of it. But the plural of anecdote is data. It’s the collating/analysing which makes the difference, but all that data is lots of anecdotes being refined.”
You missed the part about the anecdotes being collected with a proper methodology — you can ask as many people as you like, unless it’s an actual random sample (or a population where that’d be impossible or exceedingly difficult) it isn’t data. Or at least, it isn’t data worth a damn.
In context, even if 100% of prisoners at the prison his son in law works for are raped, that says nothing about prisoners at other prisons — you need a random sample of all prisons.
Re: Steele/Varpole — I’d rather drink every time Rutee says “Meriken” than every time Varpole says Rutee, the latter would likely cause alcohol poisoning.
Hmm. I honestly can’t think of an occasion to donate that wouldn’t end up bankrupting anyone who isn’t Bill Gates. These guys are not only offensive, they’re repetitive too.
“MERIKAN MERIKAN MERIKAN MERIKAN MERIKAN”
Tiny sips? I mean, I’m enjoying my mango juice and vodka, but really, alcohol poisoning is bad (not that there are even 5 shots worth of vodka in my glass currently….but I’m not draining it, I just refilled it!)
And yes, being drunk makes Steele funnier, idk if him being drunk would help any though. (I don’t do drinking games, last time I tried that it was drinking to dalek stupidly during the bad wolf episode, yeah, that ended badly)
Cassandra — every time NWO admits he was wrong? I’ve seen that happen once.
Cliff- Oh, believe me I know. Both of my folks have been Scout leaders for a combined 30 years. I was a girl scout; my mother runs one of the city’s largest cookie depots. It’s just that -and I can’t speak to how it is in other parts of the country- while girl scouting in the city still works very hard to maintain membership and everything… There are just so many more volunteers; so many more women willing to volunteer their time and resources.
I don’t know why but it’s not the same for the urban scouting for boys. Before my father took over this troop it was about to be disbanded because the man who’d been running it died. He was 75 years old at the time with, maybe, five boys enrolled and no additional leaders. That was over 15 years ago; my dad is turning sixty-four this year. The program has grown, definitely. I’d say there’s been a real resurgence in scouting -in the city- in the last decade. But there remains a real shortage of volunteers. Especially in the poorer communities.
Anyway, my dad and I are talking about this.
It’s not really a good Friday night discussion. Not when there’s drunkenness, birthdays wishes, and that Steele idiot.
That would leave me unfortunately sober most of the time, and that would be sad. Maybe every time a thread passes 100 comments?
CassandraSays: OOPS, I misunderstood your comment! I think–you were referring to the “let’s all use Merikan” one? (I should go to bed I think).
I guess….I put his claim about drinking in the same category as all the other lies he’s spewed here, but you’re right–that sort of thing is probably not a good idea to joke about.
“Maybe every time a thread passes 100 comments?”
But only once per thread? That could work. Even once per 100 comments could work, except when Steele/Varpole’s around, that could still end in the ER if we have another “800 comments in one night” thread.
A toast to people with medication/alcohol interactions!
Of, like, lemonade, of course.
(Mine is for a genetic condition for which my grandfather, both parents, and my sister have all tested negative. Lucky me?)
What in the world is a schmogasborg? A cyborg feast?
It’s a yiddish word, I can only assume he’s doing his antisemitic thing again.
Well, he spelled it wrong of course. Maybe it’s a kind of feminist-borg buffet?
But… I’m a man and I have a pair of shoes that make that clip-clop sound…
What now?
I was rather amused to discover that spiked trainers make a pretty similar sound to stilleto heels. I can imagine it now.
*clip clop clip clop*
“Oh, those sexy bitches, being all sexually harrassing with their sexy slut shoes, grr!”
*Misogynist looks around*
“GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASP! It’s Wayne Rooney!” *squeeing, sparkles*
OK, was I the only one who read that as Merkin?
Oops.
Popcorn… Hee.
Yes in prison, men can and are raped. ON sexual harassment, the law is gender neutral, in reality it is mostly women who are harassed. And although most women may never file charges, men filing charges would be dismissed by their employer. So for the very few men who are sexually harassed, only a small fraction file charges and are not taken seriously. I speak from over 44 years in the work force.
” I just said this, but let me repeat myself — the plural of anecdote is not data.”
Fine. But I prefer to hear from people who were there not a bunch of bean counters using a system only they understand. And you sir are welcome to trust whom ever you chose.
So the source of gramps’s intimate understanding of prison rape is that he … has a job?
“No, it is not impossible nor is it hilarious.”
I never stated it was hilarious. Men can be sexually harassed but it is rarely if ever reported and if it were, it would not get the attention of that of a woman who complained. That’s the reality.
wow… 44 years in the work force. I’m impressed.
An appeal to authority, and you are the authority. How many jobs? How many industries? How many states (assuming, arguendo; from internal evidence, that you are american)? How many management positions (managing how many employees)?
What is your basis for the idea that a man who complains of sexual harassment is more likely than a woman to be dismissed? If complaining is likely to lead to dismissal, on what basis do you make the claim that it’s, “very few men” who are harassed (since one reasonably assumes that someone who knows he will be fired won’t tell anyone; and so the problem’s scope will be harder to assess)?
I am not arguing that the majority of harassment is directed at female employees. I am arguing that dismissing the harassment of males in the workplace is stupid, and wrong, and that you’ve neither supported your claim, nor justified it.
I’m also saying your, “44 years in the work force [sic]” don’t mean shit to this discussion.
Getting a blow job does not meet the legal requirements of rape. And it’s happened a few times over the years to me where I was awoken by a good blow job and loved it.
Fuckin’ magnets, HOW DO THEY WORK
If being a straight man who loves women, I’m guilty
Fine. But I prefer to hear from people who were there not a bunch of bean counters using a system only they understand. And you sir are welcome to trust whom ever you chose.
Right, and what argenti said was you aren’t a trustworthy source.
At this point, based on the supporting evidence, that is the correct conclusion.
Mind you the, “bean counters” you don’t trust are doing surveys of much larger populations than you are. You have two sources, of a questionable validity: really, your brother, is either lying, or a horrible person; since you say he knows [not thinks, knows] of thousands of rapes. What has he done to stop it? I’ll wager it’s nothing. The other, the guy who was inside… how does he know that 100 percent of prisoners are raped? Did he share the details of his rape [he’s one of the 100 percent, right?].
So your sources aren’t, on their face, at all credible, and the way you use them supports the use of rape to control the wider culture.
