Tom Martin is doubling down on his own reprehensibleness. You may recall the utterly repellant things the prominent British Men’s Rights Activist – he’s the guy who sued the London School for Economics for “misandry” and got his case thrown out – has been saying in the comments here about child prostitutes, and which I highlighted in a recent post.
Now he has returned with some even worse comments. Here’s his “solution” to the problem of child prostitution. (Emphasis mine.)
Pedophiles should be removed from society and given compassionate treatment for their illness.
Child prostitutes should be put back in school, or if repeat offenders, prosecuted for attempting to profit by preying on the mentally ill pedo population.
Pedos have an incentive not to re-offend – to keep their liberty, and avoid a secure treatment unit.
Child prostitutes should face a choice between their freedom (apart from when at school), or, if they continue avoiding school to go whoring, then incarceration and school.
In another comment, Martin suggests that child prostitutes are economic free agents just maximizing their profit potential:
The child prostitutes say they’re not victims.
And the fact they take money off a punter for sex, says it’s not really rape.
Pimps are not controllers, they are in truth merely agents for the prostitute, so don’t blame them exclusively either.
I’m calling manboobzers human whores. A trait shared with animals, but one humans have the cognitive powers, awaredness, and choice to transcend.
If your 10 year old doesn’t know what a whore is, but is one, then something’s wrong with that kid’s education. Perhaps they’ve been reading manboobz articles and taking Cuntrelle literally in between poundings.
Tom Martin: Worst person in the world?
(Note: Tom Martin has confirmed that this is indeed him posting comments here on Man Boobz by sending an email from the account associated with his website Sexismbusters.org. Also, he’s retweeted quotes from his comments here. Contact him via his web site if you are skeptical.)
@thebewilderness, that is unreal. Truly incomprehensible but to him I’m sure it sounded perfectly reasonable. In this I agree with TM: Remove them from society.
Brain bleach I shot myself:
Enjoy ‘dat duck.
It would be even better if we could automatically replace every incidence of “prostitution” with “baking”. Have you renounced baking in all its forms?
Owl based brain bleach.
Also, sloths.

Sloths!

The unbearable lightness of squeeing.
Speaking of Tom’s potty mouth, and the (APPLAUDS) action David took: reminds me of all the post-Avengers fandom buzz over Liki’s use of “quim” (which is Elizabethan word for sort of well that word) to get past movie ratings boards (we all speculated).
And there was a lot of criticism of Whedon with regard to that as well….
Honestly, there are so, so many words for sex worker we couldn’t possibly hope to ban them all. It is just that most of them don’t have the vitriol that wh*res does, or are ridiculously old fashioned, so Tom can’t get the pleasure of (attempting to) insult people with them. I’m a fan of strumpet myself, just because it sounds like some kind of baked treat.
Here’s an Alternet article arguing that sex work in the 18th and early 19th century was actually often a very good deal for the women, who earned a lot more money than they could otherwise and had more independence than a married woman:

Here’s another book about 19th century prostitution, specifically about Helen Jewett, who was murdered, probably by one of her long-time clients:

She also probably went into the trade for the money and independence she couldn’t earn elsewhere.

Mewling quim translates to “whining c*nt” which is far more offensive that “wh*re”. I missed that in the movie somehow, but it really makes Loki look like a total misogynist. WTF. He was a bad enough character to begin with, now he has to be a woman hater, too?
Hmm. My understanding was that quim is… an anatomical term, not one for a profession, though given the part of the anatomy it refers to I could imagine it being used as a slightly figurative term for such a profession.
So to speak.
Really guys? I have been kinda uncomfortable with the constant flinging around of the term myself because its an obvious slur against sex workers. Now you are gonna play the lets avoid the filter game? Uhhh you do realize its an offensive term right? -_- *facepalm*
In other news, on Ustream the kittens are having a snack.
After reading Mr Martin’s comments about child prostitution (admittedly on here & not his website) I have major concerns as to his real sexual proclivities.
Sorry my comment isn’t more insightful. But I can’t find the words to express it better.
@indifferentsky
I’d just like to go over the paragraph you supplied from the americanciminallawreview, whatever the hell that is. It’s really just an opinion piece is all it is.
The paragraph you provided starts out with… “Most states have laws making sexual contact with minors illegal, as minors are unable to legally consent to sexual activity. For example, minors under the age of sixteen cannot consent in the state of New York.”
If that’s the case, isn’t any sexual activity by a minor, even with other minors against the law and she/he is subject to some type of punishment? A minor can’t consent to drink and if they do they’re punished. They can’t consent to drive a car and are punished if they do that as well. There’s a load of things a minor can’t do that an adult can and if they do them they’re punished in some way.
————
The paragraph you provided goes on to say… ” Despite their inability to consent, prostitution laws do not exempt minors from prosecution and district attorneys are not shy about prosecuting minors under these laws.”
“not shy about prosecuting minors?” The opposite is factual. Minor’s are given far greater leniency for any criminal activety they commit.”
————-
The paragraph go on to further state… “Additionally, most of the American children in the sex trade were wards of the state, which first failed to protect them from the clutches of pimps and then prosecutes them for crimes to which they cannot legally consent.”
Is this an actual fact that most children in the sex trade were wards of the state? Doesn’t the words sex trade sound so much more ominous than prostitution? Especially when the following sentence informs us of needed protection from the, “clutches of pimps.” Are there really clutches of pimps preying on wards of the State? Does a 15 year old girl/boy not know the difference between right or wrong but magically aware of right and wrong on their 16th birthday?
————-
Let’s move on to the next paragraph from the americanciminallawreview to find out whose to blame. Shall we? The opening sentence is … “Many of these children find themselves in prostitution after being lured away from foster case by an older male who is willing to shower them with gifts and affection, which he later withholds unless the children agree to engage in prostitution.”
Shockingly enough, it’s an older male. Well according to this woman anyway. Why not other prostitutes flaunting the wealth they’ve made? Why not those same prostitutes luring them into the trade? Why not an older female? Is there any statistical proof of this? Of course not, it’s simply pixels on a screen based on what ever this woman wants to say, backed by nothing.
————
What it really comes down to is, is prostitution right or wrong? If it’s wrong for adults, it’s wrong for minor’s as well. A 15 year old knows stealing is wrong, they know drinking underage is wrong, does the right and wrong of selling sex for profit somehow elude them? So the feminist dillema is that of denying a woman the right to be a prostitute would be trampling on a woman’s precious sexual agency. Her lived experiences and all that happy horseshit. If feminists say prostitution is a womans choice, the laughable term of sex trafficking has no meaning since it’s a woman choice. Her body, her choice, yip yip yap yap, and that nonsense.
————
Since you’re all the good and moral feminists you decide what’s right or wrong and let us neanderthal men in on what you decide.
If prostitution is acceptable for adult women, it should be licensed in some way as in any other business. If there’s an age limit than any one engaging in prostitution without a license should be punished. A 15 year old can’t drive without a license, they’ll be puished if they do. It sould be the same for prostitution.
If prostitution is unacceptable for anyone of any age, then an adult should be punished for being a prostitute and a minor should also be punished allbeit to a lesser degree, which is how minor’s are punished for every other crime they commit. What’s your decision?
You’re not alone, I promise.
I think it’s safe to say everyone’s at least wondering about that, at this point. The guy has, at the very least, a serious hard-on for punishment of children forced into prostitution.
@ Dracula
As unpleasant as I find pedophiles, I think that the idea that Tom might not actually be one and might just be supporting child prostitution because it’s convenient in terms of his overall narrative is even more nauseating. He seems to be cheerleading for the rape of children not because he wants to rape children, but because it’s convenient for him politically. Which is a level of amoral that’s rather startling, even for a con artist.
And yes, Tom is a parade of shit.
It takes a hell of a lot of privilege to think not being able to say whatever the hell you want at absolutely any time and place equals censorship. Just because your offensive ideas are not allowed to dominate all discourse doesn’t make you oppressed, dude. You have plenty of space and waaaaay more press than you deserve for your bigoted crap.
Strumpets do sound like something to be served with tea. Or at teatime? Tea and strumpets with butter and honey!
Okay, the concept of posing as a child raper because it’s “convenient for him politically” just finally broke my brain.
