Things I learned from Reddit: Feminists can’t be atheists. Also, they shouldn’t ever try to translate ancient Greek.

Things I learned on Reddit today.

1) From a_weed_wizard in the Men’s Rights subreddit, I learned that feminists cannot be atheists:

GirlWritesWhat agrees:

I’m not sure where those downvotes came from, since everything GirlWritesWhat says is by definition true.

2) From AskHistorians, I learned that feminists trying to correctly translate ancient Greek are evil man-hating monsters. Check out the downvotes on EggyMc!

Obviously, she’s retranslating with malice aforethought!

In this case, it’s easy to tell where at least some of the downvotes are coming from:  A link on the Men’s Rights subreddit.

MRAs: protecting ancient Greek history from MISANDRY since 2012!

So despite heavily documented evidence of women’s historical legal and social inequalities, despite laws being changed to rectify these inequalities, despite the huge changes in society over the past 60 years to fully integrate women in the workforce (besides nurse, secretary and salesgirl) and despite the fact that academia and most of society accept the history of women’s oppression, according to these bozos its just feminists who believe in things that don’t exist.

Well for something that doesn’t exist us silly ladies sure did a number on society didnt we?

“Religion is in most cases becoming far less patriarchal and even identifying with feminist dogma in many cases:”
You realize that that article was pretty firmly drubbed down just here, right? It’s hilariously wrong.

Thanks, Rutee, I knew I had seen that dreck somewhere recently, and just wasn’t immediately recalling where it was that I had encountered it.

@CassandraSays
It doesn’t seem to me that nwoslave actually thinks its an excellent thing, It seems more that he views it as the normal thing, and people who are trying to change things just don’t understand that that’s the way things are and so what if people are miserable because of it, that’s just normal. It would explain why he never appears happy.

Hmm, I suppose if NWO thought of anything as excellent he might be a bit more chipper.

…to allow women to devolve down to their base animal instinct of acting like animals in heat at their leisure in public.

Where does this happen, because I seem to have missed the show.

I am wearing short shorts. I am devolving down to base animal instinct as I’m typing this.

I’m wearing jeans, and a v-neck shirt with elbow sleeves, but you can see cleavage if I bend forward? I mean, I’m working from home so the only person who can see it is the cat, and she’s a lady cat, but I did go out for coffee earlier so I guess I might have tempted the dude at Peet’s with my animalistic sexuality.

I’m in Texas where it’s really fucking hot and there are people of all sexes walking around in shorts, and some of the men are topless. MISANDRY!

Yeah, remember when the Soviet Union went from being pioneers of legalised abortion to entirely banning it because of all that religious influence on politics?

I remember Russian women immediately gained a shitload of rights, including abortion, once all the religious influence was removed from politics. And yes, Stalin was not motivated by organized religion when he outlawed abortion, which would be a rebuttal if I had said that no atheist ever infringed on women’s rights. What I actually said was that secularism correlates with support for women’s rights and the worst instances of the curtailing of women’s rights (today, currently) are based on religious justification.

“Sexism would go down if people followed non-sexist religious practices” is just as legitimate an alternative as “sexism would go down if people were all atheists.”

Mmmm, maybe. I’m just uncomfortable with the concept of believing in something despite a total lack of evidence of its existence, it seems too open to abuse to me. But I guess that’s the distinction you’re making – to reduce sexism you need to think critically about sex/gender, and that doesn’t necessarily mean identifying as an atheist.

I will maintain that religion should be kept out of politics and any similarly powerful organizations, though. If you’re going to be making decisions that affect other people you have to be able to support those decisions with facts.

Is it just me or is GWW on the cusp of showcasing a Ray Comfort level of stupidity with this one?

@CassandraSays
“It’s like it doesn’t even occur to him that he’s depicting men in an extremely negative light.”

But I am. Men devolved down to the animalistic state of women is an insult. Look how well behaved men are compared to women. Women act like the little brat teasing the dog on a chain. Women do it because they know they’re safe, they have protectors.

Imagine a world with no governments. Womens behavior in that world wouldn’t be tolerated. So the reason women behave they way they do is because they can without being accountable for ther actions.

Would you bring a female dog in heat to a male dog and beat him down for attempting to mate? Would you do that to all dogs every day? That’d be pretty darn cruel considering every animal has two instincts, survival and reproduction. Yup, that be a most vile thing to do.

I have a problem, y’all. I want to also describe the misandric things that I’m wearing, but I’m afraid that if I do so, I am creating mental images for nwo and other dudes reading this blog and thus tempting them with my animalistic sexuality, therefore MISANDRY. But if I *don’t* describe what I am wearing, I am leaving it up to their imaginations whether I am wearing anything at all, thus animalistic sexuality thus MISANDRY.

And honestly, he wouldn’t be far off, except it is underpants and a tank top. I was wearing pajama pants earlier, but y’know, 89F.

I actually didn’t realize the idea that women are human beings and deserve equal treatment was some kind of religious statement. Apparently I’ve been lying to myself for decades.

I phoned my mom to let her know that according to some morons on the internet I’m not an atheist after all, but when I explained why, she cried and cried and told me not to call her again unless I got pregnant. Thanks for ruining my relationship with my mother, reddit.

Working from home is also misandry, since all men work in the salt mines.

Whence probably came the salt that is on these pumpkin seeds I’m eating, while working at home in my animalistic underwear. I’m like a one-woman misandry factory. I should be ashamed.

Holy shit did a MRA just admit that some things are actually or used to be patriarchal? I think that might be a first.

I remember back in the 00s typhonblue used to say that there were real patriarchies like Ancient Greece and present-day Saudi Arabia, and they celebrated male beauty and male friendship, and men didn’t even like touching women in those societies, whereas the modern West was the opposite of patriarchy: Men were disgusted at the sight of male bodies, male friendship/affection was repressed, and men were expected to find lesbianism the hottest thing ever.

Porn? Since arousing men and then not immediately offering them sex is the most misandric thing ever.
