The Men’s Rights subreddit: Fighting imaginary enemies, since 2008

To arms, Men’s Rights Redditors! Evil feminists are running riot on Wikipedia, deleting pages devoted to books by MRA hero Warren Farrell!

Oops. False alarm! Turns out WillToHave doesn’t quite understand how Wikipedia works. As one commenter pointed out several hours after the post went up, no pages about Farrell’s books have actually been deleted. The reason there are no pages about most of his books is … that no one has bothered to put any up yet.

D’oh! MRAs aren’t being oppressed by feminists; they’re being oppressed by their own laziness.

Of course, the only ones who know this are those who’ve bothered to actually read the comments. 15 hours after being totally debunked, the post, with its misleading headline, remains near the top of the Men’s Rights subreddit, with 142 net upvotes.

@Viola, I used to wear skirts on occasion back in my hippie college days. They’re quite comfortable.

The only context I’ve heard someone say that a person has a mangina is when they meant anus. (Which unfortunately frequently comes coupled with fratboy homophobia and/or transphobia.)

“You have an anus” is a pretty weak insult, there.

They are comfy. Also attractive, or at least I personally find long swishy skirts attractive. Sadly, they are also very femme, so I avoid wearing them.

@Kirby,

Yeah…he’s going to need to go ahead and come in on Sunday to do that. We’ve lost some trolls last week, and we need to play catch up.

Let me tell you, after a long day of looting and pillaging, there is no greater city than Gomorrah… except maybe Sodom.

Remember when I said -1 if he doesn’t stick the flounce, make that -2 for another “joke” — 1/10 for that flounce.

I am, at this very moment, at a conference with thousands of librarians, strategizing about how best to share information — including holding discussions of legislation we support and oppose. We’re TERRORISTS!!!!! (cloudiah immediately implements super-secret terrorist cell structure, adopts nom de guerre “buttercup”)

@hellkell:

And he has a very high IQ.

That’s the only thing that could explain how suddenly we’re talking about militant lesbians, despite that not being a reference to anything said earlier in this thread.

Why lesbians? When did we start talking about lesbians? Is this just free-association Paul has with feminists? And where did militancy come in? Who is being militant, for what purpose did he bring this adjective up?

So confused 🙁 🙁 🙁

I’m a feminist, I’m married AND I have two cats! I’d have more, but we don’t have the room!
Anyway, I’m off to share a post-work cold beer and a slice of pizza with my husband before I got to bed. I’ll try not to murder him and blame it on being pre-menstrual, Paul!

PS. In all seriousness, BBC Four are doing a weekend of David Bowie documentaries and we’ve been having pretty heated discussions about what’s the best Bowie album. It’s not, and is highly unlikely to, come to blows however.

Yup. Sure glad it isn’t him. Yup.

Shorty.
