Many of those in the manosphere wear their misogyny like a badge of honor. Others like to present themselves as fierce opponents of bigotry, and angrily deny the charges of misogyny thrown their way. When the Southern Poverty Law Center ran an article noting the misogyny often found on A Voice for Men, for example, site founder Paul Elam responded with great indignation in an open letter to the group:
Yesterday I received the unfortunate news that your organization … listed my website, avoiceformen.com, among others, as misogynistic, or “woman-hating. … Contrary to what readers of your site may be led to believe, the goals of SPLC and AVfM are quite similar: We both work to identify groups who seek to oppress others, and inform the public of the inequities they would perpetuate.
This seems a strange argument for the man whose handle on YouTube is “The Happy Misogynist,” and who regularly writes posts filled with hair-curling hatred of women. It seems even stranger when you consider AVFM’s support of a site that frankly peddles hate – against women, “manginas,” gay men, lesbian, and trans folk.
I’m talking about the misleadingly named Artistry Against Misandry site. AAM and AVFM seem almost joined at the hip. AAM’s founder, musician Jade Michael, wrote and performed the theme song currently used on AVFM’s internet “radio show.” AVFM has returned the favor, promoting the site and helping raise money for it. Indeed, several days ago Elam himself proudly announced that he’d sent along $100 of his own money to help Michael fund an upcoming event.
The site describes itself as follows:
Welcome to the first pro-male artist activist network. Within these pages you will find music, poetry, prose, graphics, cartoons and additional links, all of which are here to bring attention to and counter misandry in Western society.
In practice, this means saying the worst shit about women you can possibly imagine. Oh, the “artists” also say terrible things about men who don’t hate women with fervor — you may recall the ridiculous caricature of me as a self-flagellating, woman-worshipping “mangina” at the end of this post from a couple of days ago.
But the “artists” whose work is featured on the site focus most of their venom on women. Let’s take a look at several graphics from Reality, one of the site’s most prolific contributors.
Yep, that’s right: “western women” are “the new tapeworm parasites.” Here are a couple more.
There are (literally) forty more where those came from, and they’re pretty much all as nasty and hateful as the ones I’ve featured here. I suggest you visit AAM’s graphic art page and scroll through the rest of Reality’s wares.
If you don’t have the patience for that, and since the app they use on AAM to display Reality’s artwork is a piece of crap, I’m just going to highlight some more of his clever anti-misandry slogans here in text form:
Women actually expect you to act like a traditional male. While they live like psychotic whores. Keep dreaming, bitch!
Guys, do you really want to know what she’s thinking? 100% pure shit.
[Picture of women pointing at the camera.] We get everything and do nothing for it. Now get back to work slave.. we can put you in jail or bankrupt you with just a pointed finger.
Remember, when a woman tells you she’s tired it’s the only time she’s actually telling you the truth because…being a raging petty psychotic bitch…while being virtually retarded…while having endless banal thoughts she considers “genius…” while making insane and constant ultimatums…IS absolutely EXHAUSTING!!
Meanwhile, an artist calling himself “Andy Man” declares in a graphic of his own:
This is the sort of “artistry” that A Voice for Men is actively supporting.
And they wonder why some might consider them part of a hate movement?
Artistry Against Misandry also features music, videos, and even poetry, all of it awful, in every sense of the word. I will take a look at some of this in future posts.
EDIT: I added one more Reality graphic and a bunch of his slogans in text form.
Unbelievable! It’s like they want to be able to fuck women, but if they get pregnant they’re evil for getting an abortion and they’re evil for sticking them with fatherhood. What do they expect?! Sheesh!
I always wonder who would marry these men, but then I remember I know more than a few women whose beliefs aren’t too far off from theirs… Depressing really
I think there are 3 possible scenarios that explain how these guys can be in a relationship with a woman:
1. They’re all talk on the Internet, but actually respect their woman when there’s no other men looking. They might even keep their nefarious Internet activities secret.
2. They justify being with their woman because she is one of the .009% that is still good. But on the Internet, NAWALT is still
struck down.
3. They are in abusive relationships, where they are the abusers, of course, but the see their relationship as normal and healthy.
Fembot – Yeah, that’s what I figure too. I always get a little paranoid about #1, because it makes me worry there’s a guy in my life who seems totally nice and normal and then secretly goes off to rant about “gonorrhea-breath” on the Internet. 🙁
The possibility of #3 upsets me and I really don’t like to think about it.
I guess there’s a #4, though: They’re in abusive relationships, where they are the abusers, and see the relationship as stressful and miserable, but believe it’s entirely the fault of their victim. (Note the image of the evil woman egging on some poor innocent man to hit her…) In my experience most abusers aren’t super happy with their relationships; they’re aware that they have a lot of fights and tension. They just figure it’s all due to their victim’s terrible flaws leaving them no choice but to start more fights.
And there is a #5 where they aren’t in a relationship at all and are just liars.
A LOT of manosphere people have admitted to behavior that anyone with the vaguest knowledge of the subject would see as rape or abuse, although of course they just see it as “doing what turns women on.” So I’d put my money mostly on them being abusers.
Admittedly, I mostly lurk on the Roissyite end of the manosphere, not the Elamian end; the Elamians may be making their relationships up.
I’ve noticed that ManWomanMyth (of youtube fame) is married with children. Though he hasn’t admitted to having a daughter, he claims to have one son, and since children is plural, I would assume he also has one or more daughters. I can’t imagine the hell they and their poor mother endure, knowing their father thinks they are about as valuable as shower scum. But, you know, MRAs make great dads, and are good at nurturing and shit.
And that slideshow is a massive piece of shit that doesn’t even work. A woman must have made it (sniff).
Some of the laziest “art” I’ve seen, and I’ve taken Intro to Art (for non-art majors).
Manbooberz, I’m an artist and a feminist (you can look at my work via my link up there), and the laziness and misogyny of this shite is just insulting to me on multiple fronts. These jokers are just talentless hacks. Quick, someone pitch me a few ideas for pro-feminist subjects and I’ll whip them up
I find the one about Chaz Bono particularly disgusting and cruel. He never hurt anyone. He just wants to live his life and be happy. What’s wrong with that?
I’m thinking Save the Children (http://www.savethechildren.org) might be just a little unhappy with picture number 3. Using the name of a real charity that acutally helps children on the bottom of some fake press release bashing women? That’s got to be a new low.
They had a chaz bono one? I didn’t see that. O_o
Since that app for viewing Reality’s, er, artwork on the site is so crappy, I added another graphic of his and some of his clever slogans in text form to the OP.
Yeah, the Chas Bono thing is pretty nasty. I’ll deal with that and some other MRA homo/transphobia in another post tomorrow.
Maybe its best if I didn’t see it, no need to bring down my mood. -_-“
@delurking
just for fun i searched save the children’s site for ‘family planning’ and the first link was to a test program in malawi that teaches young men to be more involved in responsible contraceptive use.

at first glance it looks pretty cool, but there isn’t an mra site out there that wouldnt call it misandry
That reality guy used to post on that menarebetterthanwomen.com forum, and I think he got banned eventually. He made a new thread for every shitty poster and bumper sticker he designed, and they were all so poorly done – detailed photos on things intended to be bumper stickers, dark text over a dark background, etc., and he got made at anyone who pointed out these flaws even if the person didn’t say anything about his message.
One thing I find a bit funny is how one of their big things is “We men don’t want women (or Western women)!! You aren’t worthy of us!” Do they really think women want men like them? I mean, so a dedicated misogynist doesn’t want to marry me… is that supposed to be bad news to me?
Chaz Bono’s actually made some pretty problematic comments about women, but somehow I don’t think the MRAs are posting measured disagreement with his views while respecting his personal life.
yeah, owlslave, if you work hard enough at it maybe the disney channel will entertain your pitch for dexter: the teenage years. i mean, you’d have to do something to make it happen, instead of just complaining on the internet, but i believe in you.
I don’t actually care if NWO calls me Holly, but I love his insistence on repeatedly doing so.
Which is silly considering “Holly” is just another Internet alias. This isn’t even an “I’ll call you by your real name” thing. This is just sort of random defiance.
Also it’s cute when NWO pretends to be offended by statutory rape.
The racist British National Party made a very expensive mistake along similar lines, and by all accounts the fallout nearly bankrupted them.
But I doubt these people are worth suing.
Um, what is with their obsession with dildos?
It’s a shame that Save The Children, unlike Marmite, don’t really have the extra money lying around to sue people for hurting their brand by associating it with rampant assholery,
The second piece of “art” made the hair on the back of my neck stand up, because I think that may well be a literal depiction of how these guys interpret conversations between men and women. Ie, they honestly do see anything a female partner says that isn’t “whatever you say, honey” as her trying to goad them into violence. It’s like someone took Meller’s view of the world and rendered it as a graphic, but without the dolls.
OK, chaps, I did walk a mile in your shoes. (Well, boys’ shoes; men’s are too big). Surprise! They’re loads comfier than women’s shoes because of being shaped like human feet.
There must be one of those Greek rhetoric terms to describe the situation where you use such a stupid metaphor that the opposite of it is literally true.
Oh, and Wetherby, thanks for that reminder to make myself some Marmite sandwiches for lunch tomorrow! It tastes even better when associated with the likely demise of the wretched BNP.
