Arthur Goldwag, the author of the SPLC’s recent report on hatred in the Men’s Rights movement, has now responded to some of the hysteria his article provoked amongst MRAs. As Goldwag notes, contrary to what most MRAs seemed to conclude from the report,
the SPLC did not label MRAs as members of a hate movement; nor did our article claim that the grievances they air on their websites – false rape accusations, ruinous divorce settlements and the like – are all without merit. But we didcall out specific examples of misogyny and the threat, overt or implicit, of violence.
Thomas James Ball, for example, who was hailed as a martyr on so many men’s rights forums, called for arson attacks on courthouses and police stations. The Norwegian mass killer Anders Breivik wrote extensively about the evils of feminism. We included as much as we did about Register-Her.com because it is so intimidating to its targets, not all of whom are criminals. When Elam accused Vliet Tiptree, a pseudonymous contributor to RadFem Hub, of “calling for extermination of half the human race; the male half, that is,” he offered a cash reward for her real identity. The names and locations of several candidates were publically aired.
Goldwag also takes a look at some of the radical feminists that have become boogeywomen for so many MRAs, and deals with other MRA complaints.

The Men’s Rights subreddit has already linked to Goldwag’s article, which has provoked not only the predictable SPLC-bashing but also some criticism of A Voice for Men and Paul Elam.

Goldwag’s piece also got some criticism from the STFUfauxminists Tumblr blog for quoting a RadFem known for her transphobia.

fact is, it’s all an exercise in missing the point. Note that the shirt doesn’t say a false accusation will occur, or that it must occur, or anything remotely like that. In fact, the probablity of a false accusation is fairly low. Fairly miniscule, actually. Practically negligible.
Honest, that’s as much context as “Mr. I’ll show you how to think” provides.
He concludes his admission that false rape accusations are not a real problem, miniscule even, with this: But that in no way invalidates the spirit of the message.
And then he goes off on a fantasy where the only reason there aren’t lots of men lynched as a result of these negligible instances of false accusation is… that the belief in trial by jury and presumption of innocence is so strong.
So the core of his argument is that false accusations are rare, and the deeply ingrained presumption of innocence is so strong that it defeats the potential for miscarriage of justice, but that women can totally ruin a man’s life if he’s careless enough to be alone with her.
That is a truly amazing intellect at work.

His first post is Manboobz: mocking facts since 2010
And he’s ignoring the people (Brandon, Antz, Eoghan, MRAL, TS, makomk, Meller, NWO, Keyster, chuckeedee, et alia, ad naseum, ad infinitum.) who come to tell us how wrong we are.
Never mind the r/mr crowd, in Mala Fide, Roissy, Elam, TGMP, etc., who write posts decrying the horror which is Manboobz.
So the premise is built on lies, and the facts are wrong.
Other than that, it’s great.
I mentioned a word of power… thus I have a comment in moderation.

It’s not as if he’s going to get comments (and I’ll wager he is quick to ban).
According to the men’s rights subreddit, they are trying to move away from Elam and some of the more misogynist things said on there (I spend too much time on there). That said, they still tend to downvote things that don’t follow MRA thought.
Pecunium, I meant in the other direction — if he keeps linking here people will click his links and drive up traffic here…though anyone going to his 2 post blog first is almost certainly going to be an annoying troll.
I predict Valpole will go the way of FactFinder–a nasty little flare-up we endure while it quotemines for a no-traffic-having blog.

Wow, those other blogs… are not good. It’s funny how upset you make them, Dave, but they have to come HERE to get the attention they so desperately crave.
Wow… those are unreadable. the one because the layout is awful… floating text over a busy background and crappy contrast, the other… it’s gibberish. The “witty asides” aren’t, and what coherence a structured rebuttal/refutation/foaming at the mouth polemic might have is lost in the cheesy effect of bad marginalia on hand-me-down Cliff’s Notes.
It’s no wonder there aren’t more than 230 pages views of the blog.
At least Anti-Manboobz isn’t hideous to look at. If he can keep up the interest in posting (which can be hard when one has no feeback) he will own the crown of the best of the ContraDave Bloggers.
