On AskReddit, lostabro33 tells the sad story of how he, er, lost a bro. The tl;dr version:
I lost a really good friend because he didn’t want to believe his wife was a fucking whore bitch slut cunt lying piece of shit.
Here’s the full quote. As you’ll notice, it has 1314 upvotes.
Yeah, that totally happened.
Is Reddit officially the worst place on earth?
(Sadly, I know the answer to that is no. But, damn, Reddit, you really to seem to want to take that number one slot.)
(Thanks to ShitRedditSays for finding this, er, gem.)
EDITED TO ADD: [TW: Child porn]
Speaking of shitty things on Reddit: There was more child porn up on Reddit, this time a post in r/videos with more than 900 upvotes and numerous positive comments, with a link to a video that showed the sexual abuse of a six-year-old boy. The folks in SRS have been talking about it; after numerous complaints from SRSers to the r/videos mods, Reddit admins, YouTube, and the FBI, the video has apparently been removed from YouTube. More details, and a link to the original r/videos thread, in the SRS thread devoted to it. There’s also a lot of discussion of it in the comments to this post here.
I know that if one of my friends sent me naked photos of my partner, my first thought would be to get angry at my partner, because clearly that’s the fucked up part here.
(Actually my first thought would be “yawn, more of those?” but this isn’t about me.)
Reddit is probably the worst place on the internet that honestly believes it’s a force of good. Sites like 4chan are fully aware of their awfulness.
Odds that this guy in fact did hack his friend’s wife’s computer? 97%.
Odds that the story never happened: 97%
Does anyone actually post naked pictures of themselves to r/gonewild showing their faces? Did he recognize his friend’s wife’s by her tits?
Whoops, used my regular wordpress username up there.
I don’t imagine many people put their faces in on Gonewild, particularly considering Reddit’s love of digging up old gonewild posts to use as harassment against the women who post them.
I’d hazard a guess that both sides feel like they are telling the truth and the pictures were uploaded by another 3rd party. It then makes both stories sound realistic.
Does anyone else notice the disconnect between the two acts?
(1) Sends e-mail to ‘friend’ with photos of friend’s wife from a Girls Gone Wild site.
(2) ‘Friend’ threatens with police.
What? Why would the police need to be involved? Doesn’t this imply that the poster’s conduct was a little more extreme?
@ David, OT, but is it true what it says over there on your twitter feed that there’s “footage on reddit of a sexual act involving a 6uo child” up for more than a day? Ugh. Sometimes the world is a very bad place. 🙁
cloudiah, yeah, check out the top post in SRS at the moment; there’s a video that’s been up in r/videos for I think a full day at this point in which, apparently, a 6-year-old boy performs oral sex on a woman. Various people have reported it to the r/video mods, and the reddit admins, but they haven’t taken it down yet. People in r/videos are talking about how “lucky” the boy is.
That is so terrible. I just can’t even…
aussie, the police would be needed if this dood was a cyber criminal hacking computers. Also harassment is illegal, you can call for that.
Boy, file this one under need more information! And his assumption that something is horribly wrong because he finds pictures of the wife doing whatever. Why would it be automatically wrong? What does the husband feel about it, and what’s the story behind it?
So I’m guessing that the GGW subreddit posts porn, and that’s where he saw it? Maybe it’s just GGW by name? I ask this because GGW has not always obtained photos with consent. She could have been at one of their gatherings and been assaulted. It’s happened before. A woman found out Joe Francis, that total bag of shit, was making money off her after she had said no no no no no no, and someone else grabbed her shirt and pulled it up. The jury decided that her BEING THERE was consent. That’s some conservative shaming thinking right there. One never loses consent.
That might have absolutely nothing to do with this. Bottom line is, I don’t get it. What really happened? And my opinion of this guy is that it’s his own problem if he doesn’t like women doing whatever it was he saw that’s up to her husband to decide if this was some sort of betrayal or something he doesn’t want.
What?! Redditors are cheering on the 6-year-old?!
That’s it, I’m never ever getting an account there.
What the ever-loving fuck!!
holy fuck Reddit
indifferentsky, the “gone wild” subreddit is for redditors posting nude pics of themselves. They just borrowed the name from Girls Gone Wild.
I don’t quite get it–does r/ girls gone wild post Porn With A Capital P or just GGW stuff? And I don’t see what the story says she would be lying about. Maybe when he says “the one who hacked” it means they knew there was a hacking? It’s difficult to assess the believability without any corroborating evidence, but I can see this kind of reaction occurring, depending on what he said about the wife, the wife’s personality, and the couple’s relationship.
And the CP thing—good lord, reddit, is there nothing you won’t sink to? That’s fucking atrocious.
Is there a term for when someone posts an explanation right before you ask a question? Like the opposite of ninja’d?
Hm. Snorlax’d?
There was one incident not long ago in which a female redditor posted a (completely innocent) pic of herself with a teacher of hers (I think they were both wearing the same t-shirt); some reddit asshole looked through her posting history and found that she had posted nudes to gone wild. A redditor (not sure if it was the same guy) then figured out her identity and sent the nudes to her teacher and maybe school admins. For no reason, just to completely fuck up the life of a young woman.
Between this and the CP thing…more reasons why I am never going to Reddit or getting an account there.
EVER.
Fuck, these people make me sick.
POP QUIZ!
If you saw a picture of a friend naked on the Internet, would your reaction be:
A) “I hope she knows this is out there! I should discreetly check with her.”
B) “Wow, that’s awkward. I’m closing this window and never thinking about this again.”
C) “Gosh, she’s cute naked.”
D) “Maybe her husband took this picture.”
E) “Maybe this picture is from before she got married.”
F) “Fucking whore bitch slut cunt lying piece of shit.”
If you picked “F,” congratulations, that is your grade as a goddamn human being.
David’s last comment explains why I don’t let anyone take pics of me naked. That being said, though, if this is a forum in which users post naked pics of themselves and this dude’s friend’s wife posted herself there, so what? Why all the drama? 97% is too low – this story sounds about 99.999% fake.
This sounds like another episode of This Totally Happened, You Guys!!! on Reddit, which is officially the worst place on Earth.
Shit, fucked up those italics.
Six year old boy. WHAT.
Jesus Christ, the child porn is a new low. How has Reddit not gotten legally burned to the ground by now????
