[TW: Rape]
Have you ever said to yourself, “my life won’t be complete until I see a reprehensible rage comic in which a ‘nice guy’ decides to solve his ‘friendzone’ problem by violently raping women?”
If so, it’s your lucky day! I found this lovely comic on the Tumblrverse; the dude who put it up has since taken it, and his Tumblr, down. Be warned: this really is the worst rage comic I’ve ever seen. Click here to see it. Or don’t click; that might be the better choice.
This is why “nice guys” can’t have nice things. BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT REALLY NICE.
Below, something of a palate cleanser. No trigger warning for this one. Just some lovely schadenfreude. (Thanks to blitzgal for posting this in the comments.)
EDITED TO ADD: I just noticed this lovely discussion in the Men’s Rights subreddit about my post. You may notice that many statements in the discussion are not what you might call “true.” Also, they deliberately misspell my name in a most hilarious manner! (If you are 5 years old.)
No no, you’re supposed to blame it on their natural lack of empathy! I mean their so logical and objective and able to distance themselves from issues so they are perfect problem solvers!!
Yeah, totally unrealistic, uh huh. I know I’m not the only woman who comments here who actually was raped by someone she considered a friend.
Your scenario is more offensive because it’s more likely to happen to Shade. 😉
Female sexual predators are very rare. Men who think their gender isn’t responsible for most sexual assults are lying to themselves.
Maybe I should have said: because Shade is able to empathise with the victim, not just the rapist.
(studiously ignoring troll)
On the topic of Nice Guys(tm), I read a paranormal romance novel (Midnight Reckoning–I had to look it up. I wish pnr had less generic titles) where the reveal was that the heroine’s best friend turns out to be one of these–to the point of violent sociopathy. He gets his ass kicked, though, and he is definitely not sympathetic. But I read that and I was like, “He’s a werewolf nice guy(tm). Huh. That’s actually pretty clever.” I’m almost surprised that it doesn’t show up in fiction more often because it makes a good explanation for revealing that characters are evil. I can’t help but suspect its because they are more often played as sympathetic or as protagonists.
Can you guys think of more fictional Nice Guys(tm), and how were they treated?
Lenir from Babalon Five
Shane in Walking Dead. Not exactly a Nice Guy, but so many common points.
Way to go Shade. Its all “rape isn’t offensive much” until you realize you’re about to get your ass handed to you and then its “hey look at the lesbians!” While disappearing?
Lenir callously left the captain to die, thought better of it and without explaining why exiled himself. Turns out he left because he couldn’t bear to watch delann sully her soul with a mere human. Made him look like just a sweet but foolish romantic
Shade: It’s tasteless and semi-offensive, but there’s nothing so horribly offensive about it, and I don’t think the comment was offensive, but it was offensive, IMO.
Pick one, Dude.
In the meantime, I feel like we should be having a nice long discussion on why rape jokes wherein the punchline is “hahah, that bitch got what she deserved” are not, in fact, black humor. Teeth? Black humor. Jennifer’s Body? Black humor. Nobel Son? Black humor. Dead baby jokes? Mostly black humor. Rape jokes? Not so much.
Sneaky sneaky! “Shade47” seems to be posting from the same German forest that Goku/MRAL was posting from! (though using a different IP)
So either Shade47 and MRAL are sitting around a campfire in Germany (presumably trying to figure out Lady Gaga’s German gibberish), or ….
Banned, again.
So now the question is whether MRAL decided to borrow the name of someone I wrote about here, or whether he;s been diligently trolling MGTOWforums for more than a year. I’m guessing the first, because the real Shade47 has posted 700+ comments there and seems to be well-liked by the regulars.
Wow mral get a life.
Jesus Christ, MRAL. You may be doing htis for the lulz, but you are so fucking pathetic.
You should really talk to your therapist about your lack of boundaries. When someone tells you to GTFO, you GTFO. To come back time and again after being asked not to shows that you think your pissant needs are greater than anyone else’s.
Newsflash, kid: they’re not.
Huh. I’m actually surprised, he didn’t really read like MRAL. There’s no way that they’re both using the same IP-masking device? *Is terrible at computer things.*
Fredrick Zoller of Inglorious Basterds. German war hero who just can’t imagine why Shoshanna wouldn’t be totally in love with him, because he’s obviously such a catch, what with killing so many Allied soldiers and all, and starring in a Nazi propaganda film.
Hey David, I know I posted this in another thread, but I wanted to make sure you saw it.

It’d be fun if that’s what trolls were using to keep posting from different IP addresses.
Why am I not surprised at the revelation of Shade47’s identity? I’ve only recently started commenting, but I love the Manboobz comments, and the pure dismissal that women might experience any kind of suffering or harassment harkens back to some of MRAL’s earliest threads, (I’m recalling the one where he denied other commenter’s stories of sexual harassment were (a) true or (b) traumatizing despite having complained of a woman’s tone of voice when she said hello earlier.)
I can’t help but suspect that “the majority of sexual assaults are committed by women” relates to the study that came out earlier this year that claimed that because of the high rate of prison rape and the sheer number of American men in prison more men were being raped every year than women–but the rapists would still be overwhelmingly male, though I’m sure there are some rapists among the female guards.
Of course, if you had functioning empathy, the results of the study were (a) women’s chances of being raped are way too high (b) men’s chances of being raped in prison are way too high and (c) too many people are in prison.
The little grommit was pretending to be a sexual health counsellor (!) over at Slacktivist. 🙁
kirby, I’m sure it must be something like that.
On the prison rape thing, the studies I’ve seen suggest that the # of prison rapes (of men and women, but something like 90% men), while considerable, are still quite a bit less than rapes of women outside prison. I think the MRAs are mixing and matching studies to get the result they want.
The 65% thing might refer to sexual misconduct (not necessarily rapes) committed by prison guards; a lot of those involve female prison guards. It’s absolutely not the case that most prison rapes are committed by women; that’s absurd.
magpie, wat?
@blitzgal- I know, that part of the movie is a brilliant deconstruction of the “dashing enemy/love interest.”
Fictional Nice Guy who may actually be their king, because he did get the girl: Lloyd Dobler.
The Internet: Not your locker room.
@David:
So you’re saying that MRAs are trying to expand the definition of rape to get the high statistics they want?
Excuse me while I foam at the mouth for a little bit.
lol, you’d think he’d learn from how easily spotted he is
@ jumbofish
i assumed he was talking about either typhonblue or girlcantwrite
