Here’s a preview of the talk I’ll be giving at Northwestern tonight.
Remember, the talk — on “How to hate women and have terrible sex: Misogynistic sex myths, and how they ruin sex for everyone” – will be at 8 PM in Room G02 of Annenberg Hall on the Northwestern Campus in Evanston.
(Here’s a map.)
See you there!
Oh, and also, The Spearhead has discovered that I will be giving a talk. W. F. Price writes about it with his usual objectivity, by which I mean that his piece is filled with lies and weird projection.
EDITED TO ADD: And now the Men’s Rights Subreddit gets in on the fun! Apparently they are also very concerned about my weight.
Oh, fuck you.
Yes, let’s tell people with depression and anxiety that what they should really be considering in all of their ideation is how they would be cheating and ripping off “honest policyholders.”
(The video is rather broad in the issues it addresses. I’m mostly posting it for the refrain.)
I wasn’t sure if that was a joke or he was just trolling for the loling.
Male feminists who boast about fathering children and shuffling their responsibilities onto some duped cuckold
Wait, male feminists are now Alpha Bad Boys? I thought they were supposed to be white knighting manginas.
@Bonvoyage
WTF? Please check your mail for that big, hearty FUCK YOU that I just sent
Well, it seems that they don’t work, right?
But that’s no surprise, we all know that they are just expensive sugar pills, not more effective than the placebo. The only ones that significantly work better are the MAOIs, but that’s just because you constantly have to think about what you’re still allowed to eat (a cheeseburger could kill you on MAOIs) and that distracts from your depression. Of course you can get the same distracting antidepressant effect by going vegan.
@Bonvoyage I have just one thing to communicate to you…
Oh, go away. “You should feel guilty for being depressed!” is one of the most completely stupid, boring, inane attacks imaginable. You should feel guilty for saying something so idiotic.
Does someone have the how-to on this? I know some lesbians who would love to start a small business.
Ooh, do we have another Pretend Doctor troll in the house? Tell us how all the other doctors are totally wrong about basic neurochemistry, unlike you, o wise one. Where’d you get your MD?
I’m pretty sure the MD he has came right out of the crackerjack box.
He has insider knowledge pollywog!….
or he “just knows” he is right XD
My recommendation to BonVoyage
I couldn’t even read that Spearhead article for content, just thought it was hilarious that our little troll Nick was there, looking for love. I assume the crack about “malign[ing] their fellow men for a crack at college girls” was a dig at David.
I suppose it doesn’t occur to any of the “you’se a leech” fuckwits that it is possible for a college grad to have a job (two even!) and still need to live at home in order to make ends meet.
I suppose that’s my own damn fault for having had “soft” majors, but seriously, the assertion that I didn’t work hard because I had to live in my parent’s apartment and take care of my grandparents in between jobs merits you a resounding chorus of “fuck yous”. And really, I was one of the lucky ones who could actually GET two crappy, minimum wage jobs and actually had a car so I could drive myself to them. I can’t believe this is something so many Americans seem to forget about, but when you live in rural America, you CAN NOT WORK if you don’t have a car. It literally cannot happen because you can’t GET THERE.
I can’t imagine how much harder it would have been for me had I not had any one of my many privileges (middle class family which, while problematic, was generally supportive, white, college education, car, relatively stable mental health, no major physical disabilities).
So if you’ve got enough leisure time to sit around and think about how you’re sooooooo much better than us “leeches” maybe instead just go fuck yourself. Because your self righteous attitude isn’t doing anyone any favors.
p.s. Doctors whose source for their medical advice is “we all know that …” generally end up with large malpractice suits.
I’m a depressed vegan! WHAT NOW BITCHES.
It’s weird he just calls them placebos instead of saying that they don’t do what they intend to do (which is more reasonable to say at least). I am not on antidepressants but I know people that are on it and while they don’t always have the best effects or the right ones they do but most have some effects at least. But no in his mind they are all sugar pills!! conspiracyyy!
bonvoyage, do I wish you a bon voyage? No. Bon passage, perhaps, if the boat has left, just hop in the water, another will be along shortly.
Polliwog, (ancillarially to falconer) Have you access to an OT? Adapting to things like becoming wheelchair bound is what they do.
OMG, is this new troll a scientologist? I can’t wait to hear how mental illnesses aren’t really real, and they should be cured by multivitamins! And how modern psychiatry is a total trick by Xenu and your thetans engrams… hubbard! Keep your sciencefictionwritersavior-religion anti-medical ideas to yourself, k?
Dude. Insult me, I dare you. TELL me about how I’m raising your taxes (college health care plus mom has be-health-insurance-d job from the government) with the cost of my treatment. Tell me about how it’s all in my head when I can’t sleep in my own bed because it’s too scary, or can’t leave the room because the idea of being seen by anyone except my partners reduces me to tears. Tell me that if I had enough positive thinking I wouldn’t ever curl on my bed and wish that I’d have a heart attack so that I could be dead and the people I love wouldn’t be traumatized by my suicide. Tell me that because I’m depressed and suicidal I don’t contribute anything meaningful to the world.
My self-esteem these days runs entirely on spite. Honestly, I want to live because it would piss you off.
#1 handy link to that ginormous issue our snobby friend was ignoring: RENT. “In no state can a minimum wage worker afford a 2 bedroom apartment working a 40 hour work week”
http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m0xre7jmTK1qzetleo1_500.jpg
Granted, a studio or 1 bedroom would cost less, but rents have gone up a lot nationally ( http://money.cnn.com/2011/03/15/real_estate/rent_rise_housing/index.htm ) because the vacancy is so low and the real estate market is so bad. So arguing that people who move in with a relative are just lazy is bullshit.
#2 dear bonvoyage – fuck you. The average motorcycle rider or bungee fanatic does way more harm to my insurance premiums than a person with any sort of chronic illness, and regardless of that, I don’t give a shit about what people do or what illnesses they may have that mean they actually get health care and thus require someone to pay for it. Health care is a human right for everyone and nobody should be shamed for needing it (we’re all gonna at some point).
Oops, sorry, source of the chart in my first link and background info is here: http://icaruscalling.tumblr.com/post/19356645627/okay-i-found-the-source-for-this-map-its-from
@Polliwog:
Why so much faith in the scientific establishment? Do you believe what comes out of evolutionary psychology departments so easily, too? Read Irving Kirsch’s study about SSRIs.
It’s interesting, from what most of you say here there exist two fundamentally different mental conditions, type A where you are a victim of your brain and deserve all our compassion (like contemplating to stab yourself in the spine to make yourself dependent) and type B where you are completely responsible and guilty for what you think and deserve all our ridicule and mockery. Could you explain this to me?
Why so much faith in the scientific establishment?
Yeah, the correct solution is obviously to just make shit up.
Well how do you know you are right then? Do you “just know”?
