No thanks, Belvedere vodka. I think I’ll be going with pretty much ANY OTHER BRAND than you the next time I purchase vodka.
After a flurry of complaints online, Belvedere offered this “apology.”
Yeah, pretty sure “sorry if you were offended” does not count as a real apology. Neither does this: Belvedere Vodka, I’m sorry you’re so fucking clueless.
I feel sick.
Proof of the gynocracy’s oppression of men.
Rape culture? What rape culture?
I’m not “offended.” I’m “contemptuous.”
Consumer boycott until they post an actual apology, perhaps?
Between this and the story of the woman who has to pay spousal support to her convicted rapist ex-husband (convicted of raping HER, by the way), my disgust levels are just too high right now. I’m going to take a walk.

It’s not even a good joke. LOL RAPE LOL HILARIOUS is just not funny, you know?
“Consumer boycott until they post an actual apology, perhaps?”
Then boycott forever probably. Has someone who did a non-pology ever apologized in a meaningful way after that? I doubt it, the point of this “I’m sorry you’re so sensible” apologies is to wash your hands and pretend it never happened in the first place.
Good thing their name is easy to remember. I’ll be sure to flip them off next time I’m in the liquor store.
I feel like I need to go back to that thread where we were posting pictures of our pets, but now I can’t remember which thread that was…
Damn, Belvedere, we used to be cool. Now we have to break up and it’s not me, it’s you.
As with most rape jokes, it’s barely even a joke. I guess there’s some vague wordplay in “goes down”? But the real joke is just “Rape! Ha!”
I think they’re trying to court the (sadly large) “well, I think it’s fine because I have a sense of humor, hmmph” market.
So what were we supposed to take away from this ad? If getting her drunk with our vodka doesn’t work there’s always rape?
Were the ad execs drunk when they concluded this was a hilarious ad and gave it the green light?
Looks like portrayals of women in adverts is set to go back to beyond 1970’s standards.how disgusting.
It’s basically the same joke that fuels Viz comic’s long-running “Up the Arse Corner”, but it just doesn’t work in the context of trying to sell alcohol.
Crucially, the surreal absurdity of Viz‘s approach is missing – what they do is take pretty well known images like this still from Casino and… well, that’s all they do: their mere inclusion in the Corner provides the punchline.
cloudiah: I’m pretty sure it’s every thread you want. Here is to fix hurt brains:

Aw! Too much cute!
Oh yuck. I’ve been trying to avoid horrible sexist things like this (and this abject fuckery: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/mar/23/abortion-what-children-schools) because I’m in a really happy, excited mood.
But I guess the world is just conspiring against nice people.
Here is a picture of my old cats. They were in lurrrrve:
Bums. This link should work: http://i787.photobucket.com/albums/yy155/belladonnaanodyne/2011-05-23141000.jpg
Two kitties in love, such a beyootiful thing.
This video makes me laugh so maybe it’s a good brain-washer after that terrible Belvedere tweet:
Belvedere!! Aww man, that used to be my treat :'( It’s never the shitty ones
I don’t even like dogs but a) this is adorable and b) I just saw what Owlyslave posted on the other thread, so I’m definitely team canine today:
Also, you’ve all seen Anti-Oppressive Baby Animals, right?

Anyone have any good vodka recommendations that aren’t this one?
