Tom Martin, a former gender studies student at the London School of Economics, recently became a minor celebrity amongst Men’s Rights activists and other angry men when he sued his alma mater for alleged sexism against men.
He’s now had his case thrown out of court. Let’s go to the Camden New Journal for details:
Tom Martin, 39, who lives in Covent Garden, claimed he suffered “anti-male discrimination” while studying for a master’s degree in gender, media and culture at the world-famous university in Holborn.
Representing himself at his application for a trial at the Central London County Court on Tuesday, Mr Martin complained of a lack of men-only sessions in the university’s gym and the preponderance of posters in the corridors advertising services for women without the presence of similar materials geared towards men.
Mr Martin, who describes himself as a feminist, said “hard” chairs in the library were uncomfortable for men and that a “male blaming culture” was evident in course materials, which “ignored men’s issues” and focused on wrongs done by them.
Damn those misandrist chairs and their man-hating hardness!
The judge didn’t buy it, saying Martin’s case had essentially no chance of success. He threw out the case and ordered Martin to pay LSE’s legal costs.
Martin, welcome to reality.
On Twitter, Martin responded to the news by calling his critics “whores.” One of many examples:
But I was really discriminated against, you whores!
And, yes, his Twitter handle is indeed Sexismbusters.org.
EDITED TO ADD: Actual headline today on What Men are Saying About Women:
EDITED AGAIN TO ADD: Tom Martin has replied to this post in the comments. Some highlights:
My legal complaint did NOT involve a complaint about the seating. You have been misled by the press – The Times and the West End Extra/Camden New Journal both mysteriously got it wrong.
One year prior to joining the university, when visiting its library, I did complain, that the seating being hard created a greater disadvantage for men than for women, as men have considerably smaller weight-bearing buttock pads than women, and men are heavier too – so for men, on average heavier than women, have more weight bearing down onto a pad which is approximately four times smaller than women’s on average – according to a BBC documentary on the subject.
He then details his attempts to fight this grave injustice. Also, there’s this:
[S]everal comments here are confusing ‘whore’ with ‘slut’. A slut has sex freely, which I am all for. Freedom of association is the ultimate in humanity. A whore charges for sex. Even if a woman is a virgin, but is waiting for Mr Right to buy her something, she’s a whore.
It’s counter-intuitive, but a lot of professional feminists are whores. They expect the government and men to do them special favours. They make up stories to convince men and government to believe that we all owe women something.
But really, if someone were keeping a tab, then…
Women owe men five years pension.
Women owe men some National Service.
Women owe men some inventions.
Women owe men positive discrimination in university curricula.
Women owe men some child access.
It’s women’s round at the bar too.
For the whole thing, see here.

@Tom: seating discrimination against men in Saudi
IF this is even true (citation needed), I would imagine that these regulations? rules? (laws???) are passed by an all-male authority–and exist primarily because women are not allowed to drive and now allowed to be within a certain distance of non-familial males, and, oh, well, even if this rule is a problem for men in a country in which women are discriminated against at every turn and in every way, do you REALLY think that:
1) Saudi men need YOUR help, oh pale western man from a country with a colonial exploitative past?
2) Your suit against a London graduate program had the potential to do anything to redress discrimination against men in any other country?
You’re in this for money, you whore.
Million to one chances do happen nine times outta ten! When you’re playing Heros Unlimited or D and D!
Or if you live on the Disc.
This.. is the GREATEST personal anecdote I have ever read!!!
In many ways, Saudi Arabian men are probably the most discriminated against men in the world.
Firstly, it costs more for a Saudi Arabian men to marry than for any for other men in the world on average (in relative to national average earnings).
Secondly, Saudi Arabian women are the laziest whores in the world, with just 22% of them in even a part-time job (and that 22% figure bolstered by the foreign women shipped in to do certain work).
Thirdly, Islamic law says what a man earns, he must share, but what his wife earns, she can keep.
Women in Saudi Arabia nevertheless DO face certain obstacles to work, we all agree.
In the UK, where I’m sure we all agree there are less obstacles to Muslim women getting a job, still, only 26% of Muslim women have as much as a part-time job.
Let’s say they face some obstacles too though. Great.
But, getting real, 34% of blind people in the UK have a job. Do they face more obstacles to employment than muslim women in the UK? They face many more obstacles, but they want to work, unlike most muslim women.
So on balance, given Saudi men are doing all the hard work, not only should Saudi women be giving up their seats to Saudi men if anything, victim-feminists should be ashamed of themselves for portraying Saudi women as the uniquely oppressed class. Far from it.
Saudi Arabia is an advanced country, where the female population is highly educated. Saudi scientists are among the best in the world. Saudi doctors successfully separated conjoined twins at the head – both twins living – but that same scientific community has so far been unable to separate Saudi Arabian women’s enormous asses from their couches. There is a way though. When Saudi men learn to stop giving women money and gifts, the women will have no choice but to rise up, get a job, demand driving licenses, etc.
Saudi women just laugh at patriarchy theory. They know they’re lazy whores pulling all strings. Saudi men on the other hand, have never had their issues addressed, and are very receptive to change.
Islamic states are whoriarchies – which neither men or women would want to be associated with, once they’ve had it properly explained.
Martin you lazy whore, quit copy pasting your prewritten shit here.
By lily white, non-islamic you, of course. Tell me, what passages of the Quran do you quote as your great examples of this “Islamic whoriarchy”?
Also, have you ever actually met any Islamic men? And listened to what each individual man actually thinks? Or were you just listening to your own voice?
And you do know that Saudi women (and the men in their families!yay!) Have been demonstrating and protesting so that women can have licenses? And that women caught driving, even with her father or husband in the car are thrown in prison?
The. men. in. Saudi. are. oppressed. By. the. women.
Really.
Tom, if we were to accept this inversion as truth, what then? What plan have you got for restructuring society?
(I have this feeling it involves all the men and women living separately on opposite sides of the Mississippi, and houses of prostitution, all voluntary, of course.)
I love the way you try to built a logical-looking argument, but you can’t stop to use the word whore twice a sentence.
You know why it’s expensive for a man to get married? Because he basically has to buy a wife!
And you’re really a hypocritical one: you admit that they do face ‘certain obstacles’ (that’s a huge euphemism) but if they don’t have a paid job, they’re lazy whores! And I say pay, because if you look at this thing called reality, you’ll realize most women in Saudi Arabia don’t spend their days napping and watching love story movies. They work, it’s called housework.
Well, it is true that generally, women have more substantial asses…But (no pun intended), I don’t think that talking about chairs is going to be helpful in a conversation about whether the women’s studies department and the LSE is discriminatory against men.
Saudi women sentenced to ten lashes with a whip for driving.

Martin, may I suggest that, instead of whoring yourself out for donations, you travel to Saudi Arabia and enlighten the male population there. Just explain that Purdah has made them all the victimized Johns of their lazy, whorish women and that you’ve come to liberate them from that tyranny.
In fact, you should document your travels and experiences. If the men are, as you claim, “…very receptive to change.” you could single-handedly end centuries of religiously, politically, and culturally enforced sexual segregation.
Go for it.
But let’s suppose you’re right, and it’s all a big injustice. Do you know who make the rules, who write the laws, who do the police and the judge, in the whoriarchy of SA? Not the whores, not the good women, not the feminists. Men.
(obvious disclaimer: not all men, but (almost?? Not my field of experstise) only men)
Just curious Tom – is it okay for a woman to get/want a present from a man if it’s her birthday? How about Christmas? Valentine’s Day? Love Day? Kwanzaa?
Where do wedding presents given by third parties fit in? Are they okay because theyre “paying” for both parties to be having sex?
How about if a woman asks a man to call her? I mean, technically she doesn’t get the money he’s paying for the call, but he’s still out of pocket.
Really? Nothing to say about the constant vitriol lobbed at sex-workers, both real and imaginary?
And what if she get a birthday present, but offer one (let’s say around the same value) for his birthday. Still a whore?
What if you accept a gift from a man with whom you’ve already had purely egalitarian sex? Are you still a whore?
The key passage of the Whoran, is the one that says men provide for women, because God made ‘one sex the stronger’ – notice how it does not specify which sex is the stronger.
Even then, men would be much more likely to die from most diseases than women (pregnancy aside), so men the weaker sex in that sense, so it would have been a deliberately ambiguous statement, open to interpretation.
It can be interpreted, as meaning ‘men are weak, which is why they should pay’.
Or it can be interpreted as “The Whoran says women are weak, which gives women an excuse to whore it instead of get a job.”
Whatever way, Muslim women are by far the least economically active women compared to any other major religion.
If you want to know whether men or women are more oppressed in Islam, I will tell you, but first, I want you to bring me your week’s wages. Hand them over and we’ll talk about it. Oh, and keep doing that every week.
Tom: You have a great future as a comedy writer.
Your skills at citation are clearly not limited to academic literature.
“…Really? Nothing to say about the constant vitriol lobbed at sex-workers, both real and imaginary?”
Having done sex work, I don’t take it personally.
And just FYI, it’s spelled Quran (or about a zillion other transliterations). Look it up.
If you want to know whether men or women are more oppressed in Islam, I will tell you, but first, I want you to bring me your week’s wages.
All right, done. I haven’t any. So what now?
Um yeah whoremaster…like women are going to send the weaker vessals out on a battlefield to fight for them, knowing full well the weaker vessel must necessarily fail.
You do understand that the Koran is a continuation and clarification of principles from the old testament right? And women were defined by god as the weaker vessel?
