Tom Martin’s “anti-male discrimination” case against the London School of Economics dismissed; he responds by calling his critics “whores.”

Hard wooden chairs: Enemy of men?

Tom Martin, a former gender studies student at the London School of Economics, recently became a minor celebrity amongst Men’s Rights activists and other angry men when he sued his alma mater for alleged sexism against men.

He’s now had his case thrown out of court. Let’s go to the Camden New Journal for details:

Tom Martin, 39, who lives in Covent Garden, claimed he suffered “anti-male discrimination” while studying for a master’s degree in gender, media and culture at the world-famous university in Holborn.

Representing himself at his application for a trial at the Central London County Court on Tuesday, Mr Martin complained of a lack of men-only sessions in the university’s gym and the preponderance of posters in the corridors advertising services for women without the presence of similar materials geared towards men.

Mr Martin, who describes himself as a feminist, said “hard” chairs in the library were uncomfortable for men and that a “male blaming culture” was evident in course materials, which “ignored men’s issues” and focused on wrongs done by them.

Damn those misandrist chairs and their man-hating hardness!

The judge didn’t buy it, saying Martin’s case had essentially no chance of success. He threw out the case and ordered Martin to pay LSE’s legal costs.

Martin, welcome to reality.

On Twitter, Martin responded to the news by calling his critics “whores.” One of many examples:

But I was really discriminated against, you whores!

More examples here, and here.

And, yes, his Twitter handle is indeed Sexismbusters.org.

EDITED TO ADD: Actual headline today on What Men are Saying About Women:

Tom Martin Faces Slut-Feminist Judge, Motion Denied..

EDITED AGAIN TO ADD: Tom Martin has replied to this post in the comments. Some highlights:

My legal complaint did NOT involve a complaint about the seating. You have been misled by the press – The Times and the West End Extra/Camden New Journal both mysteriously got it wrong.

One year prior to joining the university, when visiting its library, I did complain, that the seating being hard created a greater disadvantage for men than for women, as men have considerably smaller weight-bearing buttock pads than women, and men are heavier too – so for men, on average heavier than women, have more weight bearing down onto a pad which is approximately four times smaller than women’s on average – according to a BBC documentary on the subject.

He then details his attempts to fight this grave injustice. Also, there’s this:

[S]everal comments here are confusing ‘whore’ with ‘slut’. A slut has sex freely, which I am all for. Freedom of association is the ultimate in humanity. A whore charges for sex. Even if a woman is a virgin, but is waiting for Mr Right to buy her something, she’s a whore.

It’s counter-intuitive, but a lot of professional feminists are whores. They expect the government and men to do them special favours. They make up stories to convince men and government to believe that we all owe women something.

But really, if someone were keeping a tab, then…

Women owe men five years pension.
Women owe men some National Service.
Women owe men some inventions.
Women owe men positive discrimination in university curricula.
Women owe men some child access.
It’s women’s round at the bar too.

For the whole thing, see here.

Wow. I’ve been checking whoreboys comments on other blogs. Shit man, I hope you can do better than using whore every other word in your arguments..

On the other hand, its also been rather amusing if one has a strong stomach for abuse/rape apologia and tedious circular aruguments.

Even if there were a compelling reason to outlaw all sex work, I’m still going to receive things from men and from society on occasion (since I also give to them), and in Tom’s book that makes me a WHORE.

Fortunately I can make up for it by providing free access to my vagina for those in need?

Um, yay. I think I’ll stay a WHORE. (While still not being a sex worker of any kind…)

Okay, there are serious questions here. Like, if I buy my boyfriend a pack of Mountain Dew, does that make him a WHORE? If my girlfriend buys me french fries, am I a WHORE now? Or is it only when men buy things for women that the women become whores? What if someone buys my girlfriend a drink she doesn’t actually want? Is she still a whore?

Yeah, but Tom, no one’s going to fuck a charmer like you for free.

As far as you’re concerned Hellkell, I’m taken.

– you were trying to use the ‘pink whip’ anti-male shaming tactic:

http://exposingfeminism.wordpress.com/shaming-tactics/

Anti-male shaming tactics are always used at the point of losing an argument, Hellkell.

When someone asks me “What sort of woman would go out with a men’s rights activist?” I reply “the sort of woman who isn’t a whore.”

Thanks though hellkell. Exhibit W.

What does the W stand for Tom?

Feminism should be about encouraging women they can and should do anything (apart from prostitution). With this system, there is no need to blame men for anything, just give up and renounce all forms of prostitution – then get an interesting job, and make everyone’s life a bit better with your endevours.

Welcome to humanity!

Shorter Tom: Welcome to society, you’re on your own.

(This also happens to be the mantra of the selfish jackwagons who call themselves libertarians.)

Everyone can of course do whatever you like, but my opinion as a professional victim-feminist is that “Why is prostitution inherently wrong?” is the wrong tack to take, because it’s a reasonable question and non-wingnuts can reasonably argue for either side.

Way better to focus on “these accomplished professors are whores!” or “You have to stop me from buying something by giving it to me free!” or, of course “I’m being discriminated against because these chairs hurt my butt!”

Oh, I read over at the Butterflies Blog, and somebody linked to program information, including very specific links to courses:

http://www2.lse.ac.uk/study/graduate/taughtProgrammes2012/MScGenderMediaAndCulture.aspx

So it’s very easy to see what in fact the course he was blathering about involved at least in 2012 (I assume he was enrolled in 2011, but don’t really give a flying fuck).

I’m planning to make my honey dinner tomorrow, which means that I will be paying for the ingredients. OMG, he is such a whore!

@ Falconer

I tend to prefer metal that’s classical based rather than blues based. It’s kind of saddening to me how few metal fans even realize how much of their favored genre actually is based on classical music, structurally speaking.

When someone asks me “What sort of woman would go out with a men’s rights activist?” I reply “the sort of woman who isn’t a whore.”

When combining this with the standard “all women are whores” meme that the MRM is famous for… life just gets a little bit more awesome

“Anti-male shaming tactics are always used at the point of losing an argument, Hellkell.”

This, in combination with Tom’s tendency to scream WHORE any time he disagress with anything a woman says or does, is the funniest thing posted on Manboobz in a long time.

When someone asks me “What sort of woman would go out with a men’s rights activist?” I reply “the sort of woman who isn’t a whore.”

So, uh, “Go out with me or you’re a whore”?

…Yeah, this is definitely some serious frat-party logic.

I think, all things considered, that I’d like to be a whore. (Not that I have sex for money. But clearly that has nothing to do with it.) I get to play a part in society, have a mutual relationship with my boyfriend, and not date this guy.

What exactly is the downside to whoredom again?

Because calling women whores is totally the way to prove you have a legitimate arguments.

For all the screeching MRAs do about shaming language, they do enjoy using derogatory slurs like whore and cunt towards women.

This is kind of a serious question:

Why do so many guys like Tom use “whore” as a synonym for “parasite”? A whore isn’t a parasite at all! She’s someone who provides a service for market price. And if you don’t agree with her price you don’t have to hire her.

What’s parasitic about that?

Folks, I really love the band Cake and I think it’s primarily because they have a trumpet in their lineup. I adore any pop/rock song with orchestral instruments in it.

A-fucking-men! That’s why I love ska, too, and bands like Chicago. (Also because I’m a beginning trumpeter who would love to be in a rock band.) Cake are also, IMO, the best lyricists in the business. Period.

@Holly

I wonder my Tom doesn’t attack the men who hire prostitutes with “shaming language” if there was no market for prostitution, it wouldn’t exist. Obviously many men are hiring them so how about going after them? how about calling them creeps? why is it all the fault of the prostitutes?

It’s EXHIBIT WHORE.

I always figured the kind of woman who would go out with an MRA either has low self-esteem or an untreated head injury.

Tom, you do know that only a complete jackass would color code what he regards as shaming tactics? It’s the internet equivalent of a giant ball of rubber bands.

Okay, I know I said I was going to ignore him, but I guess I lied. Does that make me a whore? Do I have to be a gigolo instead because I’m a guy?

Anti-male shaming tactics are always used at the point of losing an argument, Hellkell.

And if you don’t realize you’re losing, if, in fact, you think you’re winning, Mr. Martin will be happy to tell you that you are, in fact, losing!

When someone asks me “What sort of woman would go out with a men’s rights activist?” I reply “the sort of woman who isn’t a whore.”

You certainly know plenty about shaming techniques, there, Mr. Knobby Arse. It’s a shame you can’t refrain from employing them yourself. Because shaming women is perfectly okay.
