antifeminism internal debate misogyny MRA reddit the c-word

The Men’s Rights subreddit works on its image problem — by reaffirming MRA’s sacred right to call women the c-word

What’s the best way forward for the Men’s Rights movement today? About the only thing I’ve been able to conclude from this discussion in the Men’s Rights subreddit is that it will more than likely involve heavy use of the word “cunt.” Men’s Rights redditors sure do love the word “cunt.” (See here for the rest of this particular discussion.)

This next bit follows directly from the above:

Yep, you heard it right:

To be classified as a hate group by such a large organization is the first step to gaining wider recognition.

If that’s the case, Men’s Rights Redditors, why are you so mad at the SPLC? Why aren’t you sending it thank-you notes?

Also, just a point of fact: The SPLC report didn’t actually classify the Men’s Rights subreddit as a hate group. It just pointed out that r/mensrights is full of misogynists. But apparently a lot of Men’s Rights Redditors want to take that whole hate group thing and run with it. You go, boys (and sometimes, oddly, girls)!

It sure is surprising that the daily slop served up by a web site dedicated to satire is so obviously inferior to the amateur first attempt of a psychologist who has no experience or interest in satirical writing. Must hurt.

I notice the guy in the thread also has a problem understanding the difference between “you shouldn’t use that language because it’ll make you look stupid and hateful” and “you aren’t allowed to use that language because I said so.”

Which seems to be the same problem MRAs have with things like Schroedinger’s Rapist–understanding the difference between “that behavior will probably not make people like you, FYI” and “that behavior is forbidden by the Feminist Police under Feminist Law!”

Zarat, you are so far removed from reality that I have a feeling you are already VR.

We’re dedicated to mocking, Zarat. There’s a difference.

Maybe your FOREIGN BRIDE can explain it to you.

Also, AntZ – The actual MRA quotes on this site are hilarious. David doesn’t need to make them up.

@Timid Atheist

I think the US MRM is pretty much mostly, if not like 98%, White. I have come across some Indian MRAs, and I seem to recall someone mentioning some East Asian MRAs as well.

If she has no interest in satire then why did she try?
I would suggest Dr. Tara stick to her day job but she doesn’t seem too good at that either.

Well, to be fair, just because one dude has a love affair with the word “cunt” does not a hate movement make.

That’d be the 1k bounties on dox and the sites to register ‘bigots’ after encouraging their attack.

It would explain a lot, though. Just saying.

You know what just passed out of committee and will likely pass the House in Kansas? A bill that exempts a doctor from malpractice suits if he lies to a woman about her health risks during pregnancy.

A friend of mine points out that while this is intended to hurt & control women, it also potentially hurts actual babies. It is precisely because her doctor told her during her pregnancy that her child would be born with a particular condition that she knew enough to relocate to an area where specialists would be immediately available to treat that condition once the baby was born. If that information had been withheld from her, treatment would not have been available and the baby would have died. More proof that this is NOT about saving babies.

MRM attempts at parodying feminism are my FAVORITE THING. My partners and I have been saying “ciiiiiisss privileeeeeeege” at each other for days.

…Wait, wait, wait. The MRM is AGAINST the FBI’s expanded definition of rape? Um. Abuser’s lobby much?

FUCK YOU!! You know what just passed out of committee and will likely pass the House in Kansas? A bill that exempts a doctor from malpractice suits if he lies to a woman about her health risks during pregnancy. That’s right — if you’re a woman in Kansas, your doctor will be legally allowed to cause direct harm to you by way of injury or death, if he thinks you might get an abortion if he tells you the truth. And there are bills attempting to limit a woman’s access to comprehensive health care in every state of the union. But you complete and utter ASSHOLES keep whining about stupid SHIT like being called creepy or not getting fucked by a supermodel. You can all go fuck yourselves!!

Repeated for truth. I wish I could like this eighty basquillion times.

That’s another excellent point. If parents aren’t armed with the information they need to prepare for a baby with special needs, the baby has that much more potential to suffer after it is born. This includes preparing financially, outfitting the home with the appropriate equipment if necessary, hiring assistance as needed, etc. Also, when it comes to disorders such as ancephaly, where the baby literally does not have a brain, it condemns that child to a terrible amount of pain and suffering before it inevitably dies.

One thing about calling women c**ts is that after you’ve seen it a few times, it loses its edge. Now I would be shocked if someone at work or church called me that or if one of my friends or acquaintances did. But online, no, because it’s such a common tactic against women that it’s “Ho-hum. I’m just shaking in my boots.”

I find it amusing that the MRAs pride themselves on being mostly in STEM fields when what they really need are some decent marketing guys, but they just keep crapping on their brand.

Pecunium, hope you have a great time!

About the MRM and the SPLC: I’ve been under the impression that the MRM llluuuuuurrrves the SPLC (because the SPLC has noticed that the MRM exists, which makes the MRM feel all warm and gooey inside). Is this a mistaken impression? Am I wrong?

They seem divided. Some of the moderate MRAs are aware that attention from the SPLC is bad, and one said that this proves the MRM “has an image problem”. They’re upset because they see this as an attempt to silence them.

But some of the more radical ones are wearing the designation as a badge of honor, as David’s post illustrates.

RE: blitzgal

According to Wiki, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anencephaly anencephaly usually has the baby born with parts of the brain, mainly the brainstem, and they can’t feel pain or gain consciousness.

Still terrifying though.
