The cats I am currently catsitting are one of each: one old and mellow, and the other just tried to eat my laptop. The zany one is cuter, but I’m liking the old one better now. XD
Be careful though. I adopted a cat from the Toronto Humane society, and she was quiet and relaxed. As soon as I opened the box to introduce her to her new home, all wild kitty hell ensued.
Kittens and cats are both adorable in their own way. What’s super cute is littermates that grow up together, ’cause then they tend to be all sweet and snuggly with each other, instead of fighting like a lot of cats that meet as adults do.
I love the little purr-machines… Sisters Hazel and Buster were rescued from the engine compartment of my friend’s truck on a very cold morning, no sign of the mother or any littermates. They are inseparable, very purry and affectionate, and have cute leopard-spotted bellies that beg for petting. They are also fairly destructive, but make me laugh a lot. Buster is the lighter one, and Hazel is the darker one.

When I first got my cat she was still a kitten (about 6 months old), and she was the neediest creature that ever did need. Adorable, yes, but she would literally come stand in the doorway and whine at me any time I tried to do anything that wasn’t playing with or cuddling her. There’s a very distinctive cat noise that means “pay attention to me!”, and I heard it a lot for the first few months.
My cat Tesla did that when we first adopted her. She used to just walk around the house yelling until we paid attention to her. Eventually, I guess, she was sufficiently reassured that we would always be there to feed and pet and fuss over her, and she calmed down.
Now she doesn’t have time for us, going out at all hours with her cat friends. Seriously, she’s made a friend. They sit side by side in the back yard and ignore each other. She also gets gentleman callers, but she’s fixed and has no time for their nonsense.
It’s a little troubling that the cat has a more active social life than I do.
I love seeing everyone’s cats!
Mimi is our latest, we rescued her in late June of last year. She was only six weeks old, 2lbs., and full of worms. Now she’s getting out of psycho-kittenhood, and is the sweetest, snuggliest calico baby girl EVER.

My new cat actually likes having her tummy rubbed, and doesn’t attack me when I do it. I can even rub my face in it without any scarring being involved.
If I tried that with my old cat I’d have lost an eye.

Cloudiah, right after that pic was taken, Mimi tried to get all Billy Badass and hiss at Lil, and it was hilarious. Lilly kind of taught her how to be a cat. Now when they’re not chasing each other, they’re snuggled up together.
I know that MRA’s hate the Scandihoovians, but since we (I’m mostly Danish) invented show jumping for bunnies their argument is invalid. LOGIC.
