It’s almost impossible to catalogue all the ways men are oppressed by women in contemporary gynocratic society. There are so many! For example, did you know that men are oppressed by female characters in video games? I know, right? The last bastion of red-blooded manliness, invaded by imaginary ladies!
Luckily, the fellows at MGTOWforums.com are on the case, exposing this foul virtual misandry. I Am started off a recent discussion on the subject by asking
WTF is with empowered women in video games now? …
I see a new trend in the video/computer game world and that is the increase in strong playable female characters.
Now, I am no hardcore gamer but I do play computer games often and the recent one I have been playing recently is Shogun 2 total war. Now for those who don’t know what this game is, it is a strategy game based on the military of feudal Japan. I recently bought an upgrade for the game the other day and guess what one of the strongest military units was? Nuns. I shit you not. The nuns had an attack 20% -40% higher than most units in the game. Somehow I doubt that in real life a nun would have swung a sword or used a spear faster and harder than a feudal warlord, and this game was based on history.
Clearly nuns are incapable of manlike swordplay, though it is true that they are capable reenacting famous internet panda sneeze videos. (I have seen video proof of this.) But Shogun 2 does not depict them sneezing like pandas. It depicts them fighting.
This is an outrage because video games are meant to be a perfectly accurate reflection of reality. Obviously there is nothing even slightly unrealistic about any of this:
Most of us dudes are in fact capable of karate-chopping heads in two. We just don’t like to show off all the time.
I think I have the right to ask steam and other gaming companes: WTF with the subliminal brainwashing? What now when I buy or play a game women will be doing all the ass kicking? …
I call bullshit on this subject. Video games are the last place for guys to hang out and now women are taking over. Why not just save us the trouble and instead of eliminating our fantasy world just throw us in work camp to provide for thier bastard children (literally speaking) while they shit all over us…wait they already do that.
I Am is not the only dude who’s noticed this alarming femtrend. Goldenfetus added his observations:
I’ve noticed this too, and it drives me insane. Was co-oping Gears 3 last month and there’s a point where 2nd player has to take over a female character. Almost ruined the game for me. It may seem minor, but once you’re aware of this type of brainwashing it’s impossible to ignore. There’s no way a slim female could keep up with the massive battle-hardened male Gears in that kind of environment. They would be a liability as they are in real life combat.
Exactly! By contrast, the male characters in Gears of War 3 are all completely accurate representations of real-world men.
Goldenfetus continued:
You’ll see the same thing in most stat-based role-playing games as well, where you have the option of a female player character – like Fallout, Elder Scrolls, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, D&D, etc. The women never have any strength or intelligence penalties compared to the males. … They want to give the impression that people of any race, gender, and sexual-orientation are interchangeable – that there are no differences in ability between them, and that only a bigot could think otherwise. I’m sick of it too.
At the very least, female characters should be depicted as carriers of cooties.
Despite the very serious subject matter – video game misandry is never funny! – Xtc tried to lighten the mood with a little humor:
It would be hilarious to portray the female characters realistically. If you chose the female character in your FPS [First Person Shooter] she would have to move very slowly, dragging the gun around. You could build in some extra shake to the crosshairs to represent hopeless accuracy. Every time you needed to reload your gun, instead of just pressing a button, you’d have to find a male character and go through some flirting dialogue options to persuade him to do it for you. One out of every four missions the game would tell you that you were sitting out this one due to ‘women’s issues’.
Calloway, for his part, offered some historical perspective:
This is nothing new. I got heavy into gaming back in the late 90’s and even back then they had Tomb Raider, S.I.N., etc. Even in the original Unreal, you played as a big-breasted female.
I saw a documentary on the making of the original Tomb Raider once. The lead character, Lara Croft, was originally going to be a man. They saw him as an Indiana Jones-type character. Then, one of the designers suggested it be a woman because “if you’re going to be playing a game for hours, you might as well have something good to look at”. …
When you first take the red pill, it’s amazing the things you see. It’s as if you had blinders on before, and all of sudden they’ve been removed, allowing you to actually understand what you’ve been seeing.
Yep. And what you’ve been seeing is Lara Croft’s ass. Lara Croft’s ass oppresses men! The red pill tells me so!
Now we come to the clincher.
When you try to get romantic with the imaginary ladies in video games, they don’t act like Roissy and those dudes say ladies act. I mean, you can’t even neg them! As Dave sadly pointed out:
I remember about 12 years ago playing the Baldur’s Gate rpg series and there were some romance dialog paths between your character and some of the women who could join your group but you had to treat them very nice. You couldn’t give them any attitude or make fun of them otherwise it would be over.
Basically you have to be a total mangina towards women in most games if you want to bed them.
Even imaginary ladies are stuck up bitches!
The horror!
I had a
Oh, and I had a FEMALE My Little Pony with a pony-sized ASTRONAUT suit! It was awesome!
BAHAHAHAHAHA!!
Blasphemous Females!!! Treacherous Shrews!! Nagging Harridans!! Holyhead Harpies!!! You dare defend yourselves! A man, I say, a man is speaking!!
His explanation of why women collect dolls is a jumbled mess, but I think he thinks it’s the result of feminism:
Masculine ladies collect dolls to make up for their lack of femininity. It follows that a) feminine ladies never collect dolls, and b) no one collected dolls before the advent of Evil Feminism.
@Holly: minor note from years of cat rescue, including ferals: you don’t need to convince a cat to meow
Actually, one way to tell a feral from a stray is that ferals do not meow: cats don’t meow to communicate with each other. They’ve apparently learned it works better with us stoopid hoomanz. If a kitten is not socialized to humans, esp. between key weeks of say 4-8 after birth, they may never learn to meow because they don’t see their mothers meowing at hoomanz.
We have a feral we took in about 15 years ago (he was only about four months old, greedy as hell so we managed to convince him to hang around by shoving an open tin of food at him every time he showed up, and eventually–after several months on a cold rainy night, got him inside). He didn’t meow until years later–he apparently learned by watching the other cats MEOW and get food. He (Ginger) loves food, so he learned. But in the first year or two, it was hilarious to watch: he’d sort of brace himself, and let out this rusty squeaky noise. He’s gotten better!
DKM: You don’t know much about little girls do you?
Or, if it comes to that, feminism.
And all you say is so much bullshit in the wind.
And I repeat: I could condition until the cows came home and would never be able to convince anybody to stop.breathing.
Plus, I grew up on and loved Doris Day, Lucille Ball, Burns and Allen (did you know Lucy owned the studio ahahaha with Desi! She had to fight to get him on because RACISM), and all those great movies (KATHERING HEPBURN) of the earlier decades. You dumbshit, I am 56 years old, so I was born and raised in a small town in Idaho very much PRE second wave feminism.
And I didn’t like what I saw “wives” having to do and I said fuckit and moved out of Idaho.
Do you realize this doesn’t make any sense, Meller?
Different communities and cultures have had vastly differing views of gender, in many cases one culture holds one value that is directly opposed to the values of another culture: In some cultures, men paint themselves to look good while women are forbidden to; in some cultures women are the pursuers in romantic relationships, while men are the pursued; in some cultures there is polyandry, which is when one woman has several husbands.
The only thing you’re saying with that paragraph is that you don’t like it when women are equal to men. Well, why should women change to please you? If it bothers you so much, why don’t you change the way YOU act? That way women won’t act like you anymore, problem solved!
@DKM: Please click link which leads to “girls’ toys” and “images” via GOogle and tell me again how there are no pinky girly girl toys for poor little protofminist girlz to play with!

I’m pretty sure few if any women put perfume on dolls and then masturbate to them, so the problem may already be solved.
But yeah, DKM, if the problem is you don’t want men and women to act exactly the same, stop acting masculine and act feminine. It’s just as good of a way to behave, right?
I change my mind. I want my manboobz title to be “Superbitch”, but only if the job lets me have x-ray vision and the ability to fly. DKM, keep coming up with funny stuff like ‘superbitch’ and you could win the troll of the year next year. NWO, you’re going to need to step up your game if you want to hold onto your title.
By the way, his comment had eight exclamation points even without his sign off ‘Peace and Freedom!!!!’
“Any and all complaints about this matter should be addressed to the Man upstairs, if you know what I mean!”
Currently, that would Boyfriend, whom I pretty sure agree with my stated goal of being an electronic engineer.
You know what’s not natural? Education. Science. Religion. The computer you’re using to speak about about nature.
Real Quick – There’s been an attempt to forget I Love Lucy?? Lucy is one of the least down the memory hole pop culture characters there is.
And it’s likely that with our recording heavy and “collect whole seasons of tv shows” world, we’re much more likely to keep track of what was “hot” before us. Older things are not deliberately stuffed down the memory hole, unless by memory hole you mean Nick At Night.
A horrific amount of old film and television was simply destroyed or taped over because it was assumed posterity didn’t care – Turns out we did, and now we can’t have it.
Time Travelling Memory Hole Feminists?
@zhinxy
Don’t be silly, time travel has been set back decades by feminism!!
@Shadow – Damn, that’s right.
*think*

I used to feel guilty for killing my Sims. Even when I would make copies of people I was mad at.
One of the most horrifying fifteen minutes of my life was sitting at an academic conference, at a gaming panel, hearing what all the academics in attendance, many of them women, did to their SIMS.
I was scarred for life….
Meller: Normally, women would think that there may even be something to my suggestion, and leave it at that, but I think that my suggestions generated almost as much hostility from the manboobzettes as my rant against Sharon Osborne did!
That would be the rant where you were saying how much you enjoyed the thought of women dying in agony?
I can’t imagine why women, and people who like them, should have greeted that with scorn and derision. We aren’t hostile to the idea of your collecting dolls, we are hostile to the way you use that hobby to pathologise your hatred of women.
I’ll take Ado Annie, who knows what she wants, and understands that what people are telling her she ought to do is unfair, to the lobotomised versions of women you want to keep as pets/toys/slaves.
I have some very feminine partners (hard as you will find that to believe) who are (even harder for you to believe) are feminists. They like garter belts, and dresses. They cook, and do crochet. They love kittens (so much that they play with them despite being allergic).
And they are my equals. Not dependent on me. Not subservient to me (unless we agree to that; with limits). Equals.
And I like it. Because it’s morally right, and more fun. We go out and do things (the collection of instruments at the Met, Concerts, Singalongs, Walks to look at birds, photography, motorcycle rides (one of them rides, others like rides, some tell me to go have fun, they never want to get on such a deathtrap). We ride horses, walk dogs, breed snakes*
Sometimes they tell me what they are going to do. Sometimes they are going to do it without me. Sometimes I am asked if I want to come along. Sometimes they are hoping to do it with me; if I can’t come they won’t go).
When I come home, sometimes dinner is on the stove, sometimes I am expected to do the cooking. If I cook, I don’t have to do the dishes, and vice versa. I sharpen the knives, because I know how. If someone wants to learn, I’ll teach them Same is true of the things I don’t know how to do (like run our entertainment system. It was here before I was, and I’ve not learned it. When I need to, I’ll figure it out).
It’s called a partnership. You might want to try one, they are more fun than keeping an infantilised pet. The sex is great too.
*This is a conflation of past and present lovers; everything is in the present tense even though; for example, I no longer have dogs or horses
@Holly
I wonder if in The Past(tm) Gloria Steinem was actually sent back in time by our feminist overlords of the future to sabotage Man’s technological advances, and instead make sure that these advances only remain in the hands of Feminist Templars
@Shadow: The FEMINISTATOR!
I love it.
@DKM:
I’ve got a degree in physics and an advanced degree in pure mathematics. In each case I finished near the top of a challenging program from a top-tier school. There is no convincing evidence that women or men are hardwired for mathematics as such. There’s more to pure math than arithmetic. In fact, the higher up you go in mathematics, the more it resembles learning a complex language, e.g., the relationship between abstractions and applications. And all those scienterrific studies claim the ladies are better at language, right?
Note also that no one pushed me into the sciences. I had planned to go into economics until I read Richard Feynman’s gorgeous book, QED.
@Ithiliana
It’s simple:
Take a cup of Terminator, a splash of NWO, a dash of DKM and sprinkle a little Assassin’s Creed. Et voila, you now have more entertaining batshittery!
@Jessonian
You have finally matured from a woman, into a woman(?). Congratulations!!!!!
OVEREDUCATION AND HUMAN THOUGHTS!!!!
Shadow
Meller, you are falsely equating social and legal equality with biological “sameness”.
Despite that you have it absolutely backwards. Women’s rights have done a great deal of good because it often raises the bar for everyone. In India for example. Literacy programs for women led to women who could teach their children to read, thus increasing the economic potential for everyone. (I’m sure that’s true in many places, but for the sake of argument it’s the only one I have direct knowledge of.)
Birth control is another great example. Parents who can control their family size are better able to care for the children they do have. That raises the bar for not only everyone in the family, but reduces the stress on the social safety nets (such as they exist) thus reducing the costs for everyone.
Everyone, Meller. Do you understand what that means?
Further, societies in which women have equal rights are almost infinitely better off. Unless of course you think Afghanistan is some sort of paradise where only the educated girls have had their faces burned off with acid. Thus making them much easier to identify and avoid.
Plus you seem to have something against individual choice. Why do you hate America, Meller?
“This would also explain your otherwise inexplicable hostility toward my revulsion at the thought of modern women wearing slacks, or , in some earlier posts, embracing the Moslem veil as an item of ladies’ headwear. Not thick, heavy veils that she could hardly see through, but light, filmy, feathery veils that would just make do for the needs of modesty in public and enhancing the rest of her apparel.”
… I know that it sounds crazy, but I think a Muslim woman has the right to veil or not veil if she chooses, even if it’s thick and heavy, that veiling is a complex issue the west should really back off on and let muslim women handle themselves, and no matter what, her hijab has nothing to do with “enhancing her apparel” in the eyes of creepy dudes?
Also, pants on women are part of many traditional Muslim societies too… Salwar, anyone? Why do you get to choose whether or not pants are or aren’t feminine to anybody else? Why on earth should anybody care about your personal aesthetic?
Fashion will always happen, and you won’t get to dictate it. Sorry.
Also, thankyou very much for your thoughts on why women collect dolls. Seriously .Beautiful.
As promised, I will wait a while before rubbing your nose in your utter inability to deal with the left-libertarian defense of lockean equality and embrace of Rothbard’s critique of socio-economic egalitarianism, which is only logically possible with a deep commitment to equality of authority. But if you keep on nattering about how all women only got where they are because of the mean statist egalitarian quotas, I will be less forgiving.
Incidentally, “public” state schooling probably set back women’s rights by decades. And poor men’s, and POC of both sexes, all those you like to think are natural inferiors to yourself.
You can’t ignore that the push was to make the white male a factory worker, and the white female a homemaker, (and the non-white a domestic servant or low level laborer) tearing us all up from our potential in self employment, and crushing the wonderful radicalism, both individualist ANDcollectivist that was developing… and act as if the problem only started when they decided we were BOTH their labor fodder. We’re still all dumbed down and set back by what people are now trained to think of as a necessary education, and now more and more we’re forced into a university system merely to get by. None of which is feminism’s fault, believe it or not!
Also, when it comes to merit what on earth WOULD be an “objective” standard? Math test? Grades? Interviewer’s choice? I “objectively realize she has boobs and will distract the men?”
Libertarians often say we believe in a meritocracy, and yet, push come to shove, of COURSE we are unable to explain exactly what merit is, and how we should judge it. (Much less the ways the system may already be rigged by factors other than overt government action, even if statism IS often at the root of much other privelege as well…)
Certainly any number of qualities may lead to success. A person may do well in a position due to personal charm, hard working tenacity, moments of sublime insight, and so on and so forth… Who is to say which person, judged by which standard, should succeed or no! And with the state out of the matter, and no “right” to any position, what is wrong with employer or school pursuing those dreadful “affirmative action” policies if they choose?
Well, in Mellertopia, that would be determined by skin colour and genitalia.
And it’s not like overt government action has ever been needed to enforce that “meritocracy”.
